PW scores own goal and makes MMORPG look like dummies?

So we all felt great getting our keys for beta back in May via MMORPG (thankyou another fantastic giveaway)
Confirmed beta acceptance and extra key for a friend via email woohoo life is good
Time drags by and MMORPG announces the start of CBT 27th Oct and start to rub hands together with glee
16th October get a fresh email confirming beta acceptance and another 2 beta keys for friends via email (strange but thankyou I can invite a couple more friends)
20th October email saying sorry you are not in this phase of CBT .....................WTF?
So basically PW have been taking beta applications via their website, ignoring the so called lucky few who got a key from MMORPG and other gaming sites and just handed out phase 1 cbt to a lucky few (may only have signed up for beta 2 days ago) from the thousands no doubt who had signed up in good faith from their promotional giveaways to gaming sites
The keys from MMORPG are worthless, the keys in this forum posted a few days ago from community in good faith cause they are spare are USELESS.
Thankyou PW we now know your true colours, blatent marketing and in my opinion LIES to MMORPG and to the community

Have you tried contacting the admins here before venting about how you got boned? The admins are pretty good about checking into things for us.
Yea it shows how much of a lame company pwe is, they should have only given keys to who was going to the beta test.Basically this was just a hype promo to bolster the number of registered accounts on their books.
This reminds me of the time Cryptic sold access to STO beta through CO pre-order subscriptions, then promised in writing that those folks would be the first ones in, then completely failed to deliver on that promise and waited until months after the start of closed beta to let in the last of the CO pre-order folks.
When will these companies learn that it's not worth selling out on their most dedicated fans during beta? Sorry to bring up that other situation that has been discussed to death, but I think it is a similar trend of shortsightedness: messing up closed beta access hurts their reputations with their most dedicated fans.
To tell the truth i was one of the first people that got a beta key for FW , i been watching it a year and a half. And i still got the deny letter so its some bs i know.

I'm going to be the devil's advocate here, but it was long known that a beta key won't immidiately grant you access to the beta of FW. It only makes sure you will be in the beta at some point. If someone made a beta application months ago while you only input your key a week ago, it's no surprise he is in from day 1.
Don't spread misinformation.
For starters:
1. CB1 is VERY limited in ammount of players it will have.
2. Closed Beta Keys are not useless. They allow you to get in into one of the phases eventually.
3. Those who did not get into CB1 will most likely get into CB2, which starts 4 weeks from now.
Basically the whole closed beta is separated into phases. In each phase certain amount of additional players FROM THOSE WHO HAVE THE KEYS, is accepted into the game. This has been a public knowledge for at least two months already.

Asheram seems to have got my point, am saying that PW have USED MMORPG and other sites who in good faith have given out these keys, used them to as he says bolster the playerbase only, when in fact the keys were useless as you could sign up via the PWE site and get in (or at least have the same chance as the so called lucky few who got a key from here)
And no if you read my post beta was accepted in May when MMORPG gave out the keys a couple of months before the lottery of phases was mentioned, as for being accepted to phase 2 can you imagine how many are registered now and we all have an equal chance of getting into phase 2 and yes the giveaway keys are useless because by signing up on the FW site you get a key anyway.
But see that isnt how they did it,they gave out keys to 3rd party sites months ago but those that got keys a week had as much of a chance to get picked,yea sure you will get in at some point even if they open the door the day before open beta so they can say you would,but it should have been done the way every beta I have applied for has been-sign up,then they send those who were picked keys to get in not this mass bs they did.

You still need the key to get in. only those who have they keys can and will participate in closed beta phases at some point.
SO yes you need a key, it just does not automatically entitle you to the first cb phase. It does ensure that at some point of cb(most likely CB2), you will get in.

I feel that PWI mislead people. I wanted to use my key and get in too since I thought I was able too, but got the deny letter about having to wait. The way they went about setting up beta phases was just wonky. Then again, this is PWI. Nothing they have done in the years they have been around have been smart. I had high hopes for the game and I kinda still do, but its a PWI game and it will have a cash shop so I expect it to be the same drivel that all the other PWI games are, too.

With my story on here and people moaning on the official website, there are another 4000 keys available here on the home page giveaway today.
If you are applying for 1 of said keys, be aware this will not get you into phase 1 of cbt, rather it will put you in a draw to hopefully get in the next phase.
My name is in that draw also, you better not take my place lol.
Serves people right for being willing to pay a company to access a beta.
I mean really, paying a company so you can play there buggy game, and not even get to keep any of the stuff you find.

I put my code in a long long time ago and didn't get in. Luckily I got games I am into now but I was curious to see this one and kick the tires on it.
MMORPG developers getting dodgy about beta key give-aways and fudging on the actual dates they let contest winners get into a particular phase of beta. Go figure.
Seriously, this is common practice, winning a beta key never guarantees you'll get in first, just that you'll get in someday before launch.
Deceptive, perhaps, but only if you let yourself fall for their BS and don't realize that since you aren't paying for anything at this point you don't really have any rights at all. You are depending on the companies goodwill, which is never a great idea no matter what the industry.

funny thing is one of my accounts got a beta email with a code in it to use to actully get into beta SO im not 100% sure i have 2 account sill try both tommorrow 2 accounts by accendent
This is what I feel also.
Why do you give beta keys in a website when they do not entitle you into gameplay.
Waiting for 4 weeks is a bit too much.

i was looking forward to playing FW. Registered for it a loooong looooong time back, but still was unable to enter phase one.
Upsetting, to say the least, and it is stupid of them to make us wait for long.
Mmorpg.com was not aware of this I guess.

A shady move indeed, I am inclined to give this company a pass based off their questionable promotion tactics alone. I am even more so insulted that MMORPG.com would let this fly.
Never in my 16 years of MMO gaming have I been so mislead about beta access.
And remember, that those of use who did get in to the first beta test with the keys we got still have a chance of not getting in the second phase beta test. Since you didn't get in this time, you have a higher probability of playing in 4 weeks than I do. I do agree it does suck to not get in though.

indeed and been playing mmorpg's since 1999 and usually you get a key from a gaming site your in the beta , no key no beta simple as that .
dont confuse and mislead people .
