I think your point is WoW made a lot of money they matched their goal and what the rest of you think of the game doesnt matter. Which makes me wonder why you would want replies at all.
ok well thanks for sharing that with us, its still a cartoon and I personally would never ever consider 'giving it a try' long enough to even know whats good or bad about it.
And thats ok..
On a message board its not always about getting replies, its about getting a 'message' acrossed. I was trying to contribute to the conversation. I wasn't expecting a response, but was happy to see one.
It may be a cartoon, but its a cartoon more people enjoy than any other MMO. That makes the other MMOs on the market seem pretty bad, which guess what? Every MMO on the market is junk now a days.
I will sit here with the rest of these guys who've been on this message board for 4+ years, hoping that the next MMO released will be a better piece of shit than the last one.
but none of that matters becuase they make tons of money which was their goal and what people who do not like about the game think doesnt matter.
correct?
Just for future reference; Its easier to have a written discussion with another person, if they can distinguish what you're trying to write. .
Re-read what you just wrote.
it was stated to me by either yourself or another poster that what I thought of WoW did not matter becuase wow makes a lot of money which is their stated goal.
Its impossible to make everyone happy. The idea is to make as many people happy as you can. What do the numbers say?
Even though, I'm not one of those people. Does it make any less of a game?
I would, and likely am, labeled as a "WoW hater" because of my criticism of the game.
The reality is, I don't hate WoW. I played WoW for several years, and wouldn't have if I hated it. It does have it's positive points, but it also has a lot of failings as well. Overall I would say WoW does a lot of things to a passable level of quality, but it doesn't do anything particularly well. It's a very mediocre game.
What I do hate however, is the people who act like WoW is such an amazing game, and that it's developer, Blizzard, can do no wrong. It just irks me to no end that so many people who have little to no experience in any other MMO, or much of any other PC games in some cases, are so dead set convinced that WoW is the end all be all of MMO gaming.

I hate WoW. I hate because there is NO skill required to play, no THOUGHT as to TACTICS, and the cartoonish graphics just suck. Not to mention the community is the worst I've ever seen. With all that said the above is absolutely true. People think WoW is so great simply because it is on top sub wise or the players have virtually no experience with other MMOs. Well, why is the game on top? Just look at the first two things I stated. All you have to do is push buttons and you win! Screw learning the game, oh wait, it's WoW there is NOTHING to learn. The only thing Blizzard did right was to make a game that did not require a new rig to run at release. That's it period.
Oh wait! There is one thing the game has done right that I love... they keep all those "every kid gets a trophy" insta-gratification players the hell outta the rest of the games out there that they would infect with crying if it weren't for WoW. Keep up the good work Blizzard, keep the babies paying for your childish POS.

I quit reading after this statement. You have obviously never been in a raid group fighting some of the tougher boss'. Your troll skills are weak.
He's obviously never played arena above 1800 either.
This is one of many symptoms of a "carebare" someone who hates somethings basically just because they need something to hate.
Your playing MMOs but you hate the MMO that has brought millions of people to the genre and increased MMO gamings popularity by 1200% in the last 6 years. The MMO you are playing now probally wouldnt have 300 thousands players for example if it wasnt for Warcraft introducing atleast 50% of them players to the genre.
They game might not be for you but you should have respect for this game anyhow.
1. It is too popular/succesful (and see Microsoft/Apple/Elvis).
2. You simply played too long. Vanilla WOW lacked a few thousand playing options compared to present day choices.
I can understand both emotions but It leads to fustration and isolation.
Community on mmorpg.com is pretty much isolated at the moment.
They are the only ones rating WOW at 81%, while the "rest of the world" has an average rating of 92.5% and consider it top.
Meaning mmorpg.com has lost touch with MMO's and game design in general
And it gets worse with every new MMO published: DF, ST, FF 14 (average rating of 49% on the web), while you STILL see the same hype levels pushed up on this site for these games.
That's not good for this industry.
Or, you could simply not like it? Like a TV program-you love, you hate, you dislike, you like. I know its kind of hard for some people to handle that some people may not have the same tastes they do..
There is something like common critical acclaim. If everyone else in this game reviewing industry rates WOW as the highest rated MMO ... then you simply have to learn to live with that.
If you then find a site in which they disagree with the complete video game industry as a whole you'll have to ask questions.
If the goal is to support the other people working in this industry, I think it is the wrong way to handle the problem in the long run.
Supporting duds is not good. Not for the paying players, not for the industry in the long run.
If - on the other hand - it is to gather all the unsatisfied and create money out of their discontent in a short term with selling hits on a website, than I can understand the politics. But yourisk creating a nasty cesspool.
In both cases however the MMORPG.com crowd alienate themselves from the complete video game industry.
But as to your point yes this site should have WoW as one of the higher rated mmorpgs- but if you go to any site devoted to platformers it doesn't just feature one it focuses on a large number of them- especially the newest upcoming creative titles. So might want to trek the internet a bit before launching venom.
Well i don't hate wow and i don't see how i could hate it because it's popular! I always considered WoW to be the kind of MMO School for beginners, when you don't know the genre and are interested in it a little, well WoW is the place to go, it makes the community grow bigger. I starrted with WoW, and i still play it, but i tried a bunge of other MMO F2P and P2P because i started with WoW.
Now i agree with a guy that posted and said we shouldnt rage about wow but at all the other compagny who try to make copy of it.
I am what most would call a “WoW Hater”. But there is something I must confess, that I am sure other people that dislike WoW, also share in common. And that is, “The reason I hate WoW is because it’s the top MMORPG in the west.” Yes seems strange to hate a product simply because its (Too) good. But I also hate Nike, Halo1-Reach, Iphone, all for that very same reason. Well you may be stumbled by my logic, but just think about it. All of the most popular products in history also had hatred for similar reasons. It’s an psychological and sociological issue, within the MMORPG community. We play in a genre, which has a history, for bad performance, and major flawed releases. Don’t the you all agree, that it may be time to drop the natural hatred we have for (Too) good MMORPG products like WoW, and began to support such products?
Sorry, I must be missing that bit of DNA. I don't hate anything and I dont dislike something because it is popular or because something or someone does well. I personally am always confused by those who feel this way. I can be critical of something if I don't care for it, though I list what/why I dont like certain aspects of a product. Btw it isn't just among the mmorpg community that one sees this issue.
When I first read the title I thought it said hacker instead of hater. Regardless I don't hate WoW for being on top but I dislike a lot of the community and the negativity the general public attributes to WoW. I felt like the MMO community was different back when I started playing them in 2003, but certain games have good communities. The game itself wasn't special to me.

WoW arena remains far and away the best small group pvp anywhere. Quick reflexes and quick thinking are both required. The incoming changes for Cata reduce emphasis on gear even more. I am looking forward to Cata quite a bit.
WoW, McDonalds and coca cola are so simillar. Now iam about to tell you a very important thing.
McDonalds are known all around the world, the way they threat the animals is horrible and they should be shot for it. They make commercial worth millions,so millions of people will be attracted of their burgers and it's McDonalds fault so many people are fat and miserable, they ruin peoples life and it's not okay. They don't even use their money for good puposes, have you ever heard of McDonalds giving money to the poor or anything?
Coca cola steal water from poor countries like India, the people there have no water to drink and they die because of it. The water instead goes to rich countries which make cola, fanta and sprite and more. People buy this water including sugar and other unnecesarry shit that make people fat,bad teeth and also these people who buy coca colas products support their ideal of stealing water of poor people so they then can die.
WoW has made a game so millions can play,it has a subscription fee which they make millions of and as far i know they haven't really gave any of the money to poor or sick people that need it or something else that is very immportant than to buy a brand new car. People stay home and fuck up their lifes, many close to them get hurt and theirselves also get hurt and then after months/years hopefully understand that playing WoW for 16 hours a day was a waste of time.
Not only these companies are doing wrong things they shouldn't absolutely do,but it is one of the most well known.
As far as i remember, where i live McDonalds made a kind of "manoir" where really sick childrens can spend time with theire family because most often being in hospital they cant be always together. I don't now if coke did something like that.
And if im still right, Blizzard did a big Lunch with developpers of WoW and fans, the profit of this got to the sick children of an hospital in california.

Yes I agree that its time to stop hating things just for the sake of being very good or popular. Besides there are so many better reasons to hate WoW. :P
