Anyone else really tickled by this?
Threads 2 and 3 on this board are "TERA will have an item shop! OH NO!!", and "TERA won't have an item shop!"
Which is it? And can we please stop panicking long enough to find out?
Important facts:
1. Free to Play games are poorly made.
2. Casuals are not all idiots, but idiots call themselves casuals.
3. Great solo and group content are not mutually exclusive, but they suffer when one is shoved into the mold of the other. The same is true of PvP and PvE.
4. Community is more important than you think.

They said they are considering a vanity items shop. They have not said that they are going to offer an item shop that offers game changing items.
Vanity items like hats and shit like that. Don't listen to the nubs who can't think for themselves and start spouting nonsense.
They rejected the idea of item shop and said there is a possiblity for vanity shop some time after launch.
Heh yeah i got scared for a bit when I was filtering through all of the comments. Having an item shop in a subscription based game is just shooting yourself in the ass. It's the reason i don't play f2p games.
Anyways looking forward to this game finally being released, can't wait for an AAA mmo open world and NO FACTIONS!
Haven't we learned to not trust anything we hear about an MMORPG until we at least play the open beta? There is nothing that can't change.

You must be one of those guys that hate christmas and never give cookies to kids. You are happy when everyone around you is sad, yup I know such a dude. It almost seems like if I tell you the game is not going to be good but I'll enjoy it then you will probably go insane.

Tera is strictly a subscription game, there will be character transfers and name change and such items, but that's about it, nothing that will kill you, all the games have these nowdays.

I am totally this guy (minus the kids and cookies thing)...but I have no opinion of this game. I learned long ago, wait and see.

I'm pretty sure they're going P2P while considering an item shop later on. I don't see them making a switch to F2P in the middle of development especially when they're getting such good press.
En Masse is a new publishing company that will not be handling distributing, billing and customer support. When you sign a contract with a distributing company it is a long term contract (6-8 years mostly).
En Masse had to think long term when desiding who to use as a distributer. Tera will not be the only game En mass will have in their stable so they had to go with a distributor (digital river) that could meet all aspects of future needs.
Naturaly when people found out who the distributer was they over reacted without fully understanding the reason behind the selection.

Yea, I've been watching this game for going on a year and I haven't even gotten the slightest impression that they are going to make this FTP or include a game-changing cash shop. They seem too bent on wanting to make it a good and competitive game to want to turn it into a money farm.
