Title has nothing to do with this but i call it Janetside for some reason.
I used to love this game back in beta and played it till Corecombat came out! After that the game just went downhill with teh crappy content that ruined the game!
- Bfrs
- Oshur going
- new map
- Battle islands
- caverns and corecombat weapons
etcetc
They should have spent more time testing the new content tbh :P Imo they should have added new bases in instead of all the crap! When they took my glowing knife away i just felt like dying
Sporkfire, Smokejumper and T-ray have left that i know of!
Just soo sad this has happened From a game i was sooo close to, to a game i hate soo much!
I was just wondering hows Planetside doing these days?

Hmm used to know a evilohomer on werner server wonder if its you?
I see you been hitting EQ2 and WoW a lot recently though at the same time
BFRs was nail into the coffin.
I agree that they totaly missed the idea of strategy inside this game and im sure most of us who played it expected new bases with new level design and micromanagment etc..
I stil dont belive that Sony can release something like Core Combat. CC is disgrace for this company!
Overall boring repetitive and not exactly chalange at all.
i hear people say how much the game rocked in beta. I was in beta and i rember that there was nothing to do. every one just rain around caping bases with no one to defend them. i played befor they released core combat and yes it was getting better. sory to here that is giong down hill.
I heartily agree about the BFRs--they are annoying as all hell. Something that powerful ought to be extraordinarily rare. I'm sick of seeing them around every corner.
I've played Planetside as recent as two months ago. It's still a good game, as it is still unique (which says something profound about the stagnancy of the genre)--however, I believe it's seen better days. Vehicles seem more common and powerful than I remember, and infantry is reduced to more of an inside role.
I'll never forget that game, though.
well... I got it over the summer last year. I loved it except for the $15 a month.... It was a really good game except for core combat... but I heard the aftershock expansion was good or supposed to be, it was supposed to have mechs in it.
But, I think they need to make another. More maps, more balanced out gameplay, better graphics, no lag, lower the monthly fee, smooth it out a little, and then it'll be the best MMO out there.
I LIKE PIE!!! do you?
I felt the same way as you guys, but I stuck with it and the devs seemed to have ironed out 90% of the bugs/issues/balance. Planetside still isn't PERFECT, but then again, what game is?
The BFRs have been tweaked to the extent that they aren't godly anymore, although they do still kick ass. I do like the fact that they extend the period of land battles with their presence, so that the game is no longer becoming a quick hop and long stalemate inside each base.
The best part about BFRs that you guys probably haven't had the pleasure of experiencing, is soloing one. No word can describe the feeling you get when you hotdrop with a one way ticket over top of a BFR with Decimators blazing. The sheer adrenaline rush that occurs when you unload your arsenal onto a BFR as you dogde it's legs and try to stay under it's nuts are so worth them being there I think. AYeah, they sucked at first, but I believe that BFRs have settled onto the battlefield nicely, although the flying variants will never cease to provide me much unwanted angst.
You can also get a squad together and go BFR hunting when their numbers are high. Either way, BFRs have changed the game in a way that requires players to think more on their feet instead just straight zerging like what the game was becoming before their addition.
Core Combat was the worst expansion ever, but the caverns do look cool! At least the devs learned from that and won't charge us for any expansions again.
Bottomline is that Planetside is much better than it was when Core Combat and the BFRs were introduced. Balancing and other issues are almost no longer an issue, and the devs are constantly giving us new squad based abilities and challenges to spice up the battle field with every patch.
BFRs did it for me. I used to be part of the Enclave armored division on Emerald, and it was the most fun you could possibly have. When the enclave did come back to planetside for a few months, the armored division just wasnt the same. Too many BFRs, and all of us hated them.
Also the AA BFRS, as if it wasnt hard enough to fly already. A dual starfire (Kick in the head for the dev who thought of this one) Jumps form behind a hill, only slightly below your max alt, and blows you to hell. Nuff said lol.
I had 3 Planetside accounts :P
mainly to get me to cr5 easy then i canceled them!
I quit in sept then came back with a new account on Planetside in december 2003 with the char evilohomer and stopped playing in jan and gave my account to my mate :0 So it was me!
I came back a few times and during bfr time and they ruined it!
I spose beta rocked cause it was amazing back then
LOLOL getting CR5 by using alt accounts?? All of a sudden, all those months of wondering why CR5s suck so much makes sense, none of them actually commanded anything! (no offence to you dude)
None taken :P I worked out the easy way to get to CR5 back at release and exploited that :S
Only ever used CR5 for O anyways
After 2 yrs of playing im down with it for now...bfrs are lame i must say but oh well.
Gonig back to Ac2 now.
the game was very nice, but some weeks after release it got ... unbalanced... because of these american-teenie-whiners who can't play but want to rock - SOE made it possible...!
I have only seen my cousin playing the game in Beta and never played it myself, i did play the ten day trail with ended before the end of last year and i enjoyed it big time. Yes the BFR are pretty powerfull espacialy if one team has them and the rest not, but never the less i enjoyed the game and most battles i have seen where without any BFR involved anyway. I'm downloading the game now anyway....:)
