------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MMO game publisher NCSoft released their fiscal 2004 results today and announced their game release plans for fiscal 2005 but the long awaited Richard Garriott created game Tabula Rasa was not mentioned in those plans.

The Korean based developer reported that their overall revenues for fiscal 2004 reached $246 million, an increase of 48 percent over the previous year's numbers. Net profit for the developer/publisher for the year came in at $77 million. For 2005, NCSoft plans to launch Guild Wars, the fantasy multiplayer action-RPG from developer ArenaNet, on April 28 in the US and Europe and in Korea in the first half of the year. City of Villians, the expansion pack to developer Cryptic Studios's super hero MMO City of Heroes, will launch in the US in 2005, according to the press release, as will AutoAssault, the car combat MMO from developer NetDevil. City of Heroes is also scheduled to finally launch in Korean in 2005.

However, the press release did not mention Tabula Rasa at all in NCSoft's 2005 plans. The MMO game from Garriott, the creator of the Ultima series of RPGs that also included Ultima Online, was originally scheduled for release in late 2004 and was shown at E3 last May. However, Garriott posted up word on the game's official web site last September that due to "due to some noteworthy modifications and refinements we intend to make to the game", Tabula Rasa would miss its schedule release date and "likely won't be ready for some months beyond that." The absence of the game in NCSoft's financial press release for 2005 may single that the game won't be released until 2006 at the earliest. When speaking to Computer Games Magazine today, a spokesperson for NCSoft confirmed that Tabula Rasa would likely not be released this year but they do plan to show the game again at E3 this May.

I don't think it'll be cancelled; NCSoft obviously has deep pockets and i think they're just spreading out the release dates for their games.

This game sounds really cool, but multiple delays usually bodes ill in the end (hopefully TR is an exception).

What really bites is that the two games I'm looking forward to the most seem to be stuck in the same mire of development hell (Tabula Rasa and Middle Earth Online).

    Ah well *crosses fingers*

According to their announcement on their webpage, they are in the process of a complete overhaul of the 'look and feel' of the game. I'm looking forward to this game, but I hope this means the changes are for the better and not to make it feel more like other games. I just don't want a futureistic version of WoW.

Im looking forward to this game aswell and it with how many games they have coming out I doubt it will come before christmas :( I wanna play this game so badly it sounds amazing. My only fear is that by the time they iron out all the problems and if they do make a 2006 release the game might feal somewhat outdated.

Not to get off topic but since you mention it early 2006 is the estimated release of the PS game Phantasy Star Universe for ps2 and computer.

Some of the main MMO's I'd watched through developement never got close to their first release date.  SWG was delayed for 6-9 months and that was delayed from their first announced release date.  That's not counting how many times their proposed release was like Winter of XX.

It does suck when the delays hit for the people that are religously following the game's release. :)

I've been following this game for a while now, and from as far as I can recall, the release has always been slated around Feb. 2006.

They just finished up a huge rework, so new delays are to be expected. AutoAssault, another game published by NCSoft, was also pushed back from an August 2005 release to spring 2006 release from what I hear. So, unless two games of their lineup are heading to the dumpster, I'd say we have some hope yet.

Sounds to me like another Richard Garret Fiasco ....  We will probably never see this game hit the market .... OR if we do .... It will be a dumb down version of the game, and Garret will claim he was forced to make it that way, and probably go back into seclusion and pout.

They have had a playable version of that game for over 3 YEARS now ...  and NOW they are making a whole new engine over haul ?  This sounds like The Same wind I have had blown up my Kilt many times before by games that are about to go BELLY UP ....

Over 2 Months without ANY news on the offical Website ??  OH that is never a good thing ....   A company that HAD a end of 2005 Ship Date that NOW can not even begin to Guess WHEN their Game will hit the MARKET ????

HOW CAN THAT BE GOOD ??

Good Bye Tabula Rasa -- and I say Good for us ... That game IF it comes out will be hacked and slashed and Shoved together so baddly to get it out that it will take years for it to be patched into something playable .....

When I see this type of Delays in Games I always find that on Release the game is Patched and "Balanced" for a good Year after it makes Retail --

The Result ??  Your game play is changed so much while you play, That before long you no longer even know your own characters ....

When it happens we all call it NERF - You have seen it before --- EXpect it if this game goes retail ...

Look to the stars to know HE is with us. HE hung them as markers, of times and of seasons.

While this set back is not a good sign, as Stormwind has stated, I still hold a shimmer of hope for it.

The really bad thing is, that at this time there are a half dozen or so Sci Fi / Apocalyptic type games coming out now,  that options will be out there to take a look at.  Making long delays in release a huge obstacle.

Had this game come out relatively on time, or kept us well informed those others would have less of an impact.  Now, it's all up for grabs.

Keep your fingers crossed and hope we see some good news soon.
