I know for a fact that Bluehole Studios have been developing Tera with westernization/localization in mind since day 1. I also know that EME has been working in the western Tera client since Q4 2009. The FGT2 client shown in April was supposedly extremely stable, with "finished" translations up till early/midlevels.
According to EME's FGT2 Post-mortem article, the FGT2 generated over 400 forum threads of valuable feedback. Oh, and another interesting article which I can't find mentioned how much of the FGT2 changes had been incorporated into the new client. I'm fairly sure they said it all, or close to all, had been added to the latest client. This was some time ago now.
I followed Aion long before it went live and even CBT, and it feels like EME has a lot of more room and resources than that of NCWest did. Also, since they have been working with the client for almost a year now, I can't imagine that it would take another 12 months for completion. However, I might be wrong. Let's hope I'm not.
Sounds good but if the beta starts in Korea this month it will releases there this spring and in the west next autumn, so it is still a long time to wait unless you learn to speak Korean really fast.
I have to say that the game seems very nice, but so did Aion so I am careful with games from Korea.

Yeah, I would just like to confirm this, since I was in both FGTs. Game ran extremely well. Also, EME has been sendinf their team of writers to Korea on almost a monthly basis for quite some time now. The game may have been designed in Korea, but apparently it has been a team effort writting all of the content.
BH dumped a ton of money into this project, and have been trying to make the game as "Western Friendly" as possible.
Also, everything I have just said (excluding my confirmation of the stability of the last FGT) is basically regurgitated from news and blue posts over on the Tera website.

Welp I hope you guys can forgive the double post (or hopefully this gets merged), but I thought you should know that they plan on releasing the game this year in Korea...supposedly (according to news posts on Tera-fans and the Tera website)

I wouldn't be surprised if the game got released within 2010 in Korea. The game can launch open beta and in the same month go gold. The CB in Korea started early this year if I remember correctly which means the game could go retail within few weeks of the start of OB.
* Currently, Bluehole Studio has over 200 employees, most of whom are members of the development team.
With a team that size, I would say it will get done soon than latter.

Ya I also think it may release in Korea within this year. Open betas dont generally last long anyway.
As for the frog pictures I really liked the real frog in the bunny hat.
You guys are seriously deluded if anyone thinks North American TERA is coming out anytime soon. Just follow how slow the progress on the Korean TERA has been. Six months have past between their CBT and now they just starting on open BETA. The North American CBT is hardly even on the radar yet and then it will be another six months after that before the game actually comes out. By the time TERA releases it will be summer if not fall of next year.

Only thing Americans will be testing is translations
News is coming out about a Korean open beta client being released at the G-Star convention in Tera. Here is a link to the Tera forums, that explains the release of the client, and plans for open beta. Bottom line, the game is getting closer to release!
Yeah it is, but we will probably not see it here for about 12 months after korea releae.
But that I hope Korea OB does not have an IP block
12 months O_o
you be crazy bra, more like 2-3 months.
In most cases 12 months is correct indeed (look at Aion), but since EnMasse started translating about a year ago or so, I think that 2-3 months is more acurate. Though I hope that the release won't be rushed as with most games lately
BTW... Anyone has seen a US pre-order yet? TERA is one of the few games I really want to play for a long time

Unfortunately i'm afraid they probably will black IP, or foreign players may occupy most of their first batch of servers.
I can only hope they release the OBT version on a big number of servers, that may change the situation a little bit positive.
