Ya - i would give it a try. Not sure if i would start a new guild or try to reach the nation i once had. It would be cool to follow the lore. I would love to fight the deathless empire.
From day one my guild followed the lore. It was fun. But many didnt take to the RPing of why my guild would not allow the elven race in our ranks. Too many players just didnt read the back story. They didnt care. So we had to follow the rest of the server and we took in most of the races and classes.
Ya - I would come back to a lore server and try it out. Im not sure how they would make this work. What would be better is if the game was built to not allow some guild charters to allow other races and classes. Build the game to follow its own lore.

This is exactly the predicament of modern mmo's...it seems too many people are phased by the glitter and glam of the game and forget everything that brought the game together. I was a huge follower of the game for about a year before release, based almost solely on the lore. Ideally, I would love for this idea to take hold, but I doubt very many people would put up with lore restrictions long enough before going back to their games of choice.
PS- Lore is what brings me to games initially, and it's hard to deal with all these games with little to no backstory...I wish Meridian worked for any potential mmo. Also mentioned in another thread in the General Discussion SB Forum...anyone know of any games (out or in development) that have lore at all close to the depth of lore that SB beheld? Thanks for the help-

To save you some potential future grief, if you want to access the new islands that came with the past two expansions you have to pay extra money ($10-20 per expansion). This is done on your Ubi/Shadowbane Account page. If you don't pay to activate those zones for your account you cannot be summoned to those new zones, or travel to them through the runegates.
If Sb makes me come back and play again I am going to be highly upset on going back on my word.

However, a few problems with the game haven't been fixed, and will only become even more glaringly obvious when there are upwards of 1-2K people on the lore server.
First, lag anyone?
Second, with things like TS and Vent, there is nothing to stop a group of people to form three different lore nations grouped just as intended, but fight as a unified force that has no rhyme or reason under the lore.
Tip of the iceberg.
Strongly considering coming back, but I'm not sure SB's biggest problems not related to server pops will be fixed when the lore server comes live 2.5 years too late...

1 month into it and dupes everywhere. This game is not worth it to come back to (unless you dupe). The economy is ruins and its gonna be Wrath server (the last "new" server" all over again and down the towilet in 3 months.
Ubi has never been able to get their act together and fix all the dupes in that game so my suggestion is to stay away from this one.

Err wait a second, a guild figures out a way to copy r8 banes, makes dozens of them, and 2 days later they get all deleted and the people who did it banned (and the xploite fixed), and the economy is in ruins?
Most runes, items, etc, are selling for normal prices. 800k for a 35 int, 1.8 million for a commander, thats all normal prices.
I know a "server up" expliot in WoW thats not fixed that can copy an item, and how many devs are running that show?

I changed my mind.
Dupes and PvP exploits are still all over the place. It's a shame, as this was the only game on the market that has excellent PvP.
SB sadly is the only open PvP game, I wish Darkfall would after all these years come out. Many play SB for lack of any other game like it & I am sad to say I am 1. If WoW would have been a true warcraft game, instead of the candy coded carebare fest it is, I might not have left.

Err, no, dupes are not all over the place. I saw a 40 int sell for 2.5 million the other day, thats CHEAP. Also, some small guild was exploiting at mines (to claim them). They dont have a town anymore.
