Ummm your kinda late dude!... but thanks for trying.. ..
yah sorry, got a taste of it, and i'd rather eat stale eggs with dingleberries and fromunda cheese on top.
The fans of the game will start a flame war in posts like this and the mods will lock it anyway because it belongs in the "player review" section. Just goto the vote section of the site for FF14 and tell us what you think there and then write up your thoughts and post it in a new thread in the correct section.
Just a suggestion xD

Where did you even come up with this? Heh.
He who keeps his cool best wins.
Opening post is Personal Opinion - not indicative of everyone who plays or tries FFXIV. Some, will not like this game. Some will. Some, like this opening poster will feel thier opinion is so important that it MUST be placed in public and others should just take heed of it, no matter what. Hopefully those who read his thread will have enough intelligence to figure out for themselves what they like or not like.
Personally, I feel FFXIV is a good game with tons of things to do. I play it daily and enjoy my time in the game. It has great upside potential and the opportunity to become a great MMORPG with sustanable longevity. It is a shame so many close thier eyes to this game after first glace only, a loss on thier part.
MOD - Please close this thread. We do not need another "This game suckz cause I said so!" thread.
(DISCLAIMER - The use of the word YOU in the above post is not directed at any one person in particular, but towards those who fall into the category itself - there is no personal attack here, neither intentional nor implied.)
We dont need more "This game is great cause i said so" threads either. So close them too cause Kaocan and I cant seem to just ignore them. We just have to rspond!!
Personally, I like the game and will continue my subscripton when they start billing.

Okay - I'm confused.
There are a whole bunch of people on this site that say - don't comment on a game until it is released and you can see what it is really like. They don't like idle speculation - some of them even if the speculation is based on some sort of data or info.
Then there are these types of threads, where the game has been released and there are still calls to close the thread - I guess because each player's opinion has no value and we don't need this kind of posting...
So, why do we even have this website? No speculation should be allowed because it is not based on actual gameplay. No opinions should be allowed on games that have been released because each person's view is only their personal opinion.
What are we allowed to post about without getting flamed? I'm curious...
(As a side note, I know nothing about this game and haven't tried it.)
Somebody somehow edited or deleted a post demanding others to provide proof that there are people saying "This game is good cause I said so", after somebody said those should be locked as well. They then called the guy out to provide proof, here you go guys.

Well, the impression I get after reading IGN's review, is that there is nothing more after first glance, only repeated annoyances..
I just find it a bit amusing, FFXI went through the same bs when it first came out in Japan. Game was actually worthless, with not much to do. Then after time it got a lot better, it came out to the western market with Rise of the Zilart and lot more polish. Which l kinda wish they pulled the same stunt with FFXIV. But that was then, and this is now... with a consumer base that's a lot less forgiving, and a lot more fucking spoiled.
I'm not taking SE's side at all, they knew damn well they shouldn't have released a 2nd MMO... in the state it was. Though i will give them the benefit of the doubt they will indeed get things back in order with FFXIV, just because how FFXI was handled. Now there is a chance they won't, but for me until i see they won't make the effort to advance.. then thats when I'll say this game is a sinking ship. However for now, i still think SE will get things turned around with time.
Im waiting for the next update and that is that. I haven't logged in for a few days because I find anything worth my time is gonna be a tedious grind. The poster who really loves this game could be right about long term longevity but it really does make me curious the kind of person who actually says this is enjoyable.
I have a terrible case of OCD, I can camp in one spot til I get what I want for hours and hours, and I am a completionist on top of all that. While I found FF to be a bit romantic of a "Complex" game I need to immerse myself into, and I did, the last few days I just find it simply not worth it. There is nothing to gain, the community is silent, and I feel like there is no progression (hand held or not).
I can deal with the UI and combat system as much as I hate it. I also don't mind the slow switch between menus, but what I can't handle is wasting 6 hours in my day and looking at what I did just to find out, I didn't upgrade my gear, I have no real progression, and I still need to grind another 2 hours to get a level in whatever flavor im working on.
The next update better be a miracle patch is all im saying.
Good points but when SE devoloped FFXIV there focus was to have game that has subscribers base around 2 million not another FFXI. Sure they can fix it and retain a niche subscriber base around 50-100k like FF XI but thats not their goal. For example, they already lowered their revenue projections for next quarter by 10% which goes to show they expect around 1 million+ player base in Q4,
Yeah... IGN's reviewer didn't get very far at all or experience half of what is in the game he is what you would call a noob.
But good on you for doting on the advice of someone who went into the "profession" of video game journalism.

well yea you notice that too eh :P see the reviews out there on this game d00d's sporting sheepskin armor, which shows how far he really got lol. which sells for about 10,000 gil. I could make that much off a chest spawn now...Professional eh ?
How many weeks of play should you sit at your computer and hum drum through before you finally hit that moment when... you get to do the exact same things you did at lower level only you have a metal breastplate instead of leather? This line of thought is pretty interesting... not really. People who played the betas have plenty more time in the game than the people who just bought it. What you are doing today is what you will be doing in a month from now. Simple as that. Sugar coating the obvious doesn't really do anyone any good.
The reviewers for the game show what the player will see when they initially play the game. Before I buy a game I want to know what I'll have to spend 2-3 weeks doing (or more). Using that as theoretical leverage to justify the craptactular state of the entire game and it's mechanics is insane. There are dozens of reviews on the net that all say the same things to different degrees. You can argue a point or 2 in either direction but the message on each of the systems of the game is crystal clear. All the relevant information on the game has been "let out of the bag" so now people have the tools to make informed decisions on what to spend their money on. That is a good thing.

Back in FFXI's prime they saw nomore then 500K. If it was indeed their goal for 2mill with FFXIV a game that doesn't hold your hand like its elder brother. Then SE just need to hang their head in shame for a very long time. Setting goal's that high in the MMO world now a day's is just as bad as punching yourself in the family jewels for the hell of it. Especially releasing the current state piece of worthlessness, known as FFXIV.
I knew this game had fail written all over it 3 months before beta.
honestly, no pity for those how fell for it, that was a total "asking for it" if I ever saw one. even APB looked good in premise, this one was absolutle crap from a to z and anyone buying this deserved the epic scam.
I remember all these same folks saying this game was gonna kill this game or that game, it was gonna own SWTOR ect. Now people are bailing from this sinking ship faster than they did with STO, WAR ect. I guess gamers have less patience these days.
I think a few of those threads concluded in the OP quitting the game.
He who keeps his cool best wins.
They did. I remember cuz I choked on my tea in mirth.
In some ways I want people to enjoy whatever game they like. In other ways, it's horrible to stick up for something that is clearly subpar. I don't see why you can't like a game and still realize it needs work. People act like it's somehow a betrayel for them to criticise a game they're a fan of, or when someone else criticizes. Squeaky wheel, n' all that, as proven by the recent patch notes being started with "We heard you."
"Forums aren't for intelligent discussion; they're for blow-hards with unwavering opinions."
In another thread people were quibbling over whether the CEO said the current players are paying to Beta the game.
Well they aren't. Its even worse than that. SE ran a beta so incompetently that they did not get anything out of that beta that they should have.
Now you just have a half-baked piece of crap to play.
See if you were paying to Beta it would actually be better. Their might be some chance they had a plan and some idea of what they are doing.
If they could not run and understand the implications of their Beta in which almost all of these issues were exposed over and over, then why would you ever think they were competent enough to "fix" the game. Most of the problems are not even bugs they are just plain stupidity.
They are gonna have to go back to the drawing board. Its not even an alpha or any kind of test at all. It took an entire release and a flaming crash and burn to listen to anyone. There was no "test". This isn't a test now either. Its just trying to dig out of a hole filled with shit.
