Sandbox the next generation

Woot :)

It seems like all the best MMO's that are coming out are sandbox and im a HUGE HUGE sandbox fan. Darkfall//Fallen earth//Mortal Online//Earthrising are all of the sandbox genre, I just hope at least one of these MMO's  get it right cause I know myself and about 60 other people that are willing to spend many years in at least of these hot titles :D.

I'm glad sandbox is the next generation because I LOVE this type of gameplay! if you're interested in it, I would definitely recommend at least checking out Wurm Online. it isn't the graphics that really amazed me but the technology and freedom that it gave: actual terraforming of land, being able to cut down trees and see new ones eventually grow out of the ground, having to build a house or even city from scratch, and of course open pvp :]

MO and DFO both good games in the making for different reasons!

DFO, huge fast-paced FPS PvP scene, a huge world which is handcrafted + slightly cartoony graphics, a decent territory control system. Dedicated dev team who are always focusing on large expansions.

MO, Great slower paced tactical PvP, huge variation in what your character can be/achieve, lots of different places to build your own house, conquest sytem still basic, stunning immersive world, work in progress game with more content coming very soon.

You should really try MO. MO is very unique and is shaping up after the last patches. Soon we will get more content to. Check here how it looks like:

Never played MO so I can't really comment, but EVE and DF are both solid sandbox titles IMO. DF has a solid foundation but certainly isn't perfect atm, but AV have proven themselves devoted to the title and I can see it growing into the game everyone had hoped it would be at launch. When I played it, a few months after launch, all the bugs/exploits/etc that ruined launch were gone far as I could tell. I don't think any sandbox title is going to launch in the state we wish it would, but a good sandbox developer will continue working on the game until it meets or exceeds those original expectations and becomes the virtual world any good sandbox title should be. While launch is critical to the success of any game, and the key features that one can consider 'endgame' for a sandbox(usually territory control) needs to be in place so people can at least play the game, its what a developer does following the games launch that will really determine its future.

This guy has it really, don't expect fully polished sandboxes to come out. Join in the development and growth progress and enjoy them grow.

DFO - free trial, give it a try!

MO - love the concept, help fund the continued development of the game

Both titles will become good sandboxes for different reasons over time.
