Nobody can ever reach Max lvl in Lineage2 in 100 days - only a hardcore bot party can do that, and only a very very very very good working supported one.
Hi, i'm looking for a new MMORPG, due to my last one banned my account for no reason... i actually have emails that say it wasn't my fault that they just screwed up my account and now i can't play anymore... sry... oh btw Rappelz from Gpotato is a great game to play with an expanded lvl cap, interesting quests though that end at lvl 90... so its basically a steady constant grind to 120... graphics are wonderful and game/skills play is great, though the one great draw back to this game if you come to any problems in game play or anything asside from the item shop where money is conserned, the GM's / Support team on this particular game won't really care... I've found in the last 5 and 1/2 years of playing this game that if it doesn't benefit them as a company, but only benefits the players, the support team / Gala-Labs won't care / help you to get you back... But this is just my experiance... but i've heard this from others aswell... Really good game, but bad support team/gm's that don't really care one way or the other... So yeah i'm looking for a new MMORPG... would like to get into one like Aion or Rappelz something to that nature though free to play, with item mall and such if there is such a kool game out there please let me know...
I play WoW, but I'm afraid of playing another only because I may get addicted to it lol. Right now Guild Wars 2 and Rift look good to me. I really want to find an MMo with a lot of character creation selection.
Not sure if this is mentioned before, hadn't the urge to read all the comments.
Why isn't Aion on the list? Since the 2.0 patch it is totally manageble to play, and the 2.5 releasing
in Korea 26th January with alot of awaited changes, besides the ones in 2.0 and 2.1. 2.1 was mainly changing the lootdrop so gg(goldgear) droped more frequently. And stuff used for crafting and such.
However, Lotro should also be moved to f2p with option of sub/itemstore. Also Everquest2 have an f2p version now.
Furthermore, awesome list for users who want to either change game or test mmo in general.
This sticky thread is very informative. Got to check some of the games listed. I'm not a hard core gamer so I guess this is a good way to start to be one.
I wanted to add that RuneScape takes far longer than 100 days to reach the level cap.
In 3 years of major grind on 3 accts, my highest is a level 72.
all of my accts are pures, but i would estimate achieving max combat level 126 at about a 1-year grind.
2 of the 7 combat stats needed to achieve level 126 require tons of in-game money to train to 99, so non-combat stats must also be trained for a realistic shot at max level.
Just my 2 cents as a longtime runescape grindie
Agreed. It took me 3 months of grinding 8-12 hours a day to get one level to maximum. 90 days for one skill cap. And considering there are about 30 skills, and the one I did being one of the easiest (mining), with the hardest taking a whole year of hardcore grind, I'd say move Runescapes grind-to-cap from 100 days to about 50 years (I'm serious). There are more than skills that need to be maxed aswell, to reach the cap. There are very complex quests, each one takes maybe 30 minutes to 2 days to finish, and there are hundred of them.
And after the skill cap comes the XP cap. To max a skill level you need 13,000,000 XP, to max the XP in that skill you'll need 200,000,000 XP.
Guild Wars max level in 2 days, then Dark Age of Camelot in 3 days? DAoC takes way longer than GW, not just one day..
Guildwars max in 2 days is not unlikely as long as he means Factions and Nightfall. Prophesis takes longer, but GW is not about levels anyways.
DaoC in 1 day longer than GW do however take a lot of help with poweleveling from the local guild, if it even is possible.
I don't see the point at all to measure the time it takes to level, either you are having fun or you don't. If I spend a year or 3 days leveling matters little to me as long as I have a good time when I log on my game.
if anyone can help recommend me and MMO's, please let me know! i prefer it to be free at the moment, haha- unless there's a game that's worth spending $ on.
i've tried WoW and requiem... I was extremely addicted to FFXI and quit less than a year ago, after i got my relic/bravura to be exact. i just lost interest in it because abyssea is pure shit... so anything that's like FFXI would be kind of cool i guess. i'm looking forward to tera online though. (:
also, at the moment im downloading guild wars free trial.
It is now free to play, item mall and subscription (all in one). Note that it is very hard to finish the game with free to play, but with less money you still get a lot.
Try DC online, I assure you this is the best game ever. You can grind here and reach high level in no time even if your a casual player. This is the best MMO the year has ever released. If you want me to pick from the list you you posted i suggest that you must try Guild Wars ^____^
Yea, but what is there to do in DCUO at end game besides running a handful of instances over and over again? Is there something to collect? Can I get achievents or titles?
I played the trial and I really liked it, but I want a game that I can enjoy for years. Is DCUO that game?
(This is a work in progress. Feel free to post ideas or corrections, I know I miss things or make a mistakes)
Greetings! I speak to you today as a man who has played literally every MMO out there, and has the honesty and condensing skills to bring you a MMORPG list with all the basic information you need to know. We all can agree that trying to find even the most basic answers about game's is hard because the companies only include the uberdooper features. I aim to keep the list as unopinionated as possible. I am also only including current MMO states. For example, pre-NGE SWG won't be taken into account for it's current game state.
So, here you have it, The Unofficial "What MMO Should I Play?" Thread! Use this to compare features without digging around.
One of the first things an MMO seeker asks if how much of a grind the game is. Below is a basic list of the newer MMOs and the time is takes to reach level cap in a hardcore setting. Casual play will be longer. It gives a comparison of the game's grind status. Keep in mind, these times are hardcore grinding.
PvP is horrid to some, and everything to others. Below is the breakdown based upon PvP rulesets, rewards, and penalties. Sections not listed have no PVP.
Not everyone has a supercomputer. Below is a breakdown into sections of different tiers of system needs. They are ordered from "Very powerful PC needed" to "Weak PC needed." These are all based on graphics settings at "high." This list is also good for showing the graphical quality of a game.
This section deals with the learning curve associated with a game, as well as it's complexity. A complex game will have a lot of information to learn for a newcomer, and will be more difficult to master. A simpler game will be easy to learn and play right off the bat as a newbie.
Section 7: My Personal Recommendations_________________________________________________________________
Sometimes the simple facts arn't enough. This last section is a recommendation list based on typical MMO searchers.
"I'm looking for a game with lots of PvE grouping"
There are no MMOs where people always group no matter what. However, there are games where the players tend to group a lot. Below are games where the chat channels almost always have LFG spam.
Recommendation: Everquest 2, World of Warcraft, FFXI
"I'm looking for an MMO without PKs and gankers all the time. PvP annoys me"
Here are my recommendations for an MMO without open PvP, meaning you can walk around safely if you please.
Recommendation: LOTRO, EQ2 (RP/PvE server), FFXI
"I want a game with crafting that matters, not some sidestep in the game that's ignored."
Many people want a game where people actually need crafted goods. Below is my suggestion for games where crafted goods are widely used as much, if not more than looted items.
Recommendation: EQ2, EVE, UO, VG , FFXI, Pirates of the Burning Sea
"I'm looking for a PvP-based game with set objectives"
Here's my suggestion for PvPers who dislike world PvP, but like the idea of working on objectives.
Recommendation: GW, DAoC, WoW, Fury, Warhammer
"I want total PvP freedom where I can attack anyone when I want"
I will also note the looting rules for my suggestion here.
Recommendation: EVE (Full looting), L2 (no looting), Runescape (Full looting)
"I'm looking for a game that's a total sandbox"
Recommendation: EVE, UO, SWG
"I want direction in my gaming, I don't want to wonder aimlessly through the world"
edit, Netzoko: 10-18-08: long needed update, added newly released, mainstream games
I only have one question. Since when did EQ2 get put in with newer MMOs? Is that just becausae they still keep up with the newer ones even after 12 years running? I thought this was rather interesting that is got put in as newer. It is most definately imo one of the greatest games ever made and if you are burnt and have never tried it I would most definately recommend it. Even if you reach max level in a short time you still have a lot to go back to and do and they have a mentoring system in which I have not seen before, as well as benefits for all even high levels when they mentor. If I had to say there was a game that has included everyone in it it would be this one.

AMAZING post. I've recently left "the world" of warcraft, and these steps helped me find a new game: D&D online
I play WoW, but I'm afraid of playing another only because I may get addicted to it lol. Right now Guild Wars 2 and Rift look good to me. I really want to find an MMo with a lot of character creation selection.
I'd disagree with this list being helpful, but I've probably played all of the MMOs too, curses.
Why can't there be more MMORPGs so I can spend endless nights playing horrible games and then whining about them on some forum?
-With utmost sincerity, Anigous :-)
"i have a lvl 26 maplestory warrior lvl 9 asda story archer and a adventure quest mage lvl 15 and my xfire is my bro's"
Since when did Guildwars needs a powerful computer? You can run it on a P3 and you could even max it out on my old cheap crap HP laptop.
Besides that, good list OP. The grind time is useful for people looking for something new.
Not sure if this is mentioned before, hadn't the urge to read all the comments.

So yeah. Runescape is for serious Grindles.
The OP was last edited in October of 2008. Aion was released in September of 09.
really? no need for me to upgrade then. I still don't have any budget to upgrade my PC (yup still using a crappy P3)
any more games that don't eat too much resources? cartoony graphics is ok for me (when i say cartoony i dont mean crappy)
Say what?

I'm looking for a game with role playing, maybe where you don't need to level but can go to taverns and visit others, go 'hunting', etc
thank you for this sticky!

Can you update LOTRO?

Hi guys,, just new here.. I jsut saw the current new and top mmo released which is Rift.. how good is this game? anyone already tried it?
I think its a lot of fun.. but its not for everyone
Remember Old School Ultima Online

I'd like to see Eve Online in the "Grind" section, with the result being:
Eve Online (Undetermined -- Nobody has yet reached maximum level after 8 years)
