SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

According to a new announcement on the Perpetuum Online site, players who preorder the sci-fi MMO will have a week's early access to the game. Players will also score four weeks' worth of 'Extension Points'. Perpetuum Online is currently in its open beta phase of development and players interested in trying before buying can get involved at the official site.

We're glad to announce that beginning today, Early Access subscriptions for Perpetuum are available for €8.95/$9.95.

With an Early Access subscription players will be able to start playing one full week before the official launch, and each such account will receive 4 weeks worth of extra Extension Points. Early Access subscriptions, like normal subscriptions will enable 30 days of playtime, additionally to the 7 days of the Early Access period (so 37 days altogether).

They are an Indy Dev team from Hungary with about 10 people. On their sight they are looking to attract a publisher, I assume that since they are so "Indy", Paypal was the best option for them, with other mods of finance becoming available later on.

I have been playing and have had a few conversation with them in game, which is pretty awesome that they respond to the community, and thus far I have the impression that they have plenty of idea's to expand the game if they get the chance.

I hope enough players give them that chance.

Setting up payment methods has nothing to do with the size of a dev team, setting up moneybookers for example takes 10 minutes and doesnt cost them anything and it offers a lot more than paypal as moneybookers is a gateway to just about any form of online payment there is including creditcard, bank transfers, iDEAL and everything else.

Im willing to give them a chance, but it looks like theyre not willing to let anyone who doesnt like paypal to play their game.

At the end of the month its income that makes or break the game, researching different payment options is a small price to pay.

    IMO

I played in CB for about a month or two before I quited it.

The game itself is awesome. Lots of nice options build in, and yes, it has a bit of an EVE feeling. Only reason for me to quit playing is that I don't like to wait over time for my skills to develop (same reason I quited EVE).

I think if you like EVE, you'll like Perpetuum as well!

Actually if they wanted to accept credit cards without beisdes using paypal they would have to set up a payment gateway with a Bank wich Does cost them money..

You can pay via credit card through paypal too. You don't need a paypal account.

I hate paypal too, but unfortunately too many people and companies use it, although there are many more better solutions.
