Hi
I am looking for a MMO hat could give a me a great Pve better if it's a sandbox.
I like PvP too but i would available to sacrifice it for a great sandbox with an excellent PvE.
My favourite background could be middle ages or something more fantasy-based but it doens't really matter, 'cos i also like to play sci-fi games etc.
Thank you for you advice

Vanguard is a great PvE game, but has a dwindling community. You could also try Fallen Earth.
And Minecraft is quite fun, but not really an MMO. Very sandbox-y though.
Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN
Ryzom is an incredibly cool sandboxy game. It's setting is actually sci-fi, but might remind you a lot of fantasy (nano-tech that looks a lot like magic etc). It is mostly PvE but does have guild based PvP. Unfortunately not too many people play. Read the forum for the features.
Fallen Earth is in a post-apoc setting. One caveat, you can avoid PvP for much of the game but in my opinion, end game is mostly PvP. It has a healthy-sized community.
People will flame me for saying this, but Darkfall actually has good PvE and is a little sandboxy. You can get ganked at any time..that's true..but honestly it is not that frequent and you can do something about it.

I am shamed that I forgot to mention Ryzom. I also recommend this game. It's got a bit of a learning curve and a small, but supportive community. It also has the best mob AI I've seen in any MMO I've tried. And seasons. And some of the best crafting. It is the most "alive" MMO I've tried so far. More like a real world, than a themepark.

I'd recommend The Saga of Ryzom as well. I have to admit I've never played it long enough to really get into it, but I decided to download the trial again after playing FFXIV. I realized that everything FFXIV does well (game mechanics wise), Ryzom already does better and in a sandbox setting.
I would say Fallen Earth may be your best bet if yor rig can play it, if not then Ryzom.
Fallen Earth is a fascinating game but people say that it's very easy game. You can do every quests on your own without playing with other. I've never tried it so i cannot say if it's true or not.
Btw, thank you
How is the housing if any ?
Thank you
It does have apartments and guild halls. They are, however, instanced, and from what I've heard not very customizable. I'm sure someone else with more experience with the game can fill you in on the details. Oh, and with the latest patch you can invite others into your apartment. At least that's something.
Don't think Vanguard is sandbox at all. It's the usual themepark with quests, quest-hubs and everything that guides players around... I remember once i asked some guy in VG to go to some area to just kill mobs (for XP) and he replied to me, "no i don't like killing mobs without a reason i need to have a reason like some quest"... LOL.
Ryzom is a PvE sandbox.
You can't do every quest on your own. There are some that have elite mobs than will wtfpwn you. However, most are skippable so people just dont do them. This really is the main reason I've had gaps in my sub, there isn't much reason to group until end game. Part of the reason is that the world is so large and travel is somewhat realisticly slow. That being said, you get in a good guild or work a little harder to group, you can and its quite dynamic since you can have almost any build.

The fact that you equate grinding with sandbox says something; whether it's about you or the "sandbox" idea I'm not sure. Suffice to say that your perception of VG is wrong; the world is massive, the housing appears on the real world and the crafting is intricate and the players have a fair degree of control over what they produce.
RIFT was a *crushing* disappointment; a shallow, loveless, generic MMO the likes of which hasn't been seen in a P2P format since, well, forever.
Eagerly awaiting: World of Darkness, ArcheAge.
if you dont care much about graphics, you can try also some of the following games:
haven and hearth
wurm
a tale in the desert
istaria
SWG
About the games you suggested me which has the best developed economy system?
Ryzome ? Vanguard ? Fallen Earth ? Istaria ? SWA ? Wurm ? etc....
Thank you
Hi all,
any advice about the best developed economy system ?
Thank you
I can also recommend Ryzom
They just added this patch to your home instance:

"Your apartment can now be visited by your friends! Who has not dreamed of organizing a little party in his beloved home on Atys? Inviting others is possible via the WebIG application RyzHome (SHIFT-W in game)."
The Crafting/foraging is very good in Ryzom.
Just wanted to show how you gather materials in the now old game Ryzom. Imho one of the better ways it has ben done. Activating the player and not making it a meaningless timeconsuming boring feature like in so many other games (wow, lotro, AoC etc..)
I do not know more about the ecnomy as I used the 21-day free trial but then was cut short due to travel/work commitments and my laptop seems to have issues running it atm
It had a v good atmosphere and suffers a low population but seems one of the best to try (21-day free trial also)

Well, this is pretty much true, but with a caveat. It all comes down to your build, there are several designed for soloing, and most people use them their first time through. However, as mentioned, end game is very PVP centric and respeccing, while possible, is quite expensive so most people re-roll splitting their character's combat development with more group centric skills or crafting abilities. Following this 2nd path requires more grouping and is generally done within one's clan rather than a PUG situation.
But you did mention that you never tried it, no reason for that, there's a free 10 day trial so you can see much of the game yourself. Be aware, there some limitations to a trial including I think some restrictions on the auction house so you might not get a full piciture on the economy.
FE is either the one of the least sand-boxy of the titles you've been recommended, or one of the more liberal theme park games. You will have to follow the quest paths and stay more or less in your areas until your high enough in level, but there are many ways to develop your character and play within your area.

Darkfall is mostly PVE even though it may be considered the PVP game by many.
Darkfall is one of the only games left that I still enjoy PVE in. I know of many people who love the game and do not like PVP. Pretty far from a PVP only game when PVP can be as rare as once a week for some people. The mobs AI is superior to most games and can be a lot more challenging. I absolutely love the new dungeons, treasure maps, mobs, etc. I used to compare this game to Oblivion because it is similar in many ways but the PVE in Oblivion (as well as all the Elder Scrolls series games) is way too easy for my taste. I have tried playing it with the most difficult settings and it took me about an hour to kill my first zombie but since I was non-stop skilling up, pretty soon I had an over-powered character as usual. Darkfall's PVE is difficult and has risk vs. reward involved so I find it always fun and engaging. It is also very unpredictable whenever I log in. My plans for each gaming session always change since players have so much freedom in this game that everything people do effects other people usually. Pretty soon I think that it will be recognized as one of the best PVE games out there as it is certainly already one of the most unique. I mean . .. mobs gathering together to attack player-made cities, dynamic quests, and epic mobs controlled by GMs??!? I am verry excited to see the future of this game as it has come a long way. The last PVE expansion is awesome and I am loving every minute of it. The world is so huge and content keeps being added before I am finished exploring everything so the sense of exploration has never ended for me. Since the original EQ I do not think that todays MMOs have enough risk vs reward from PVE. With most games that I have played I only would PVE to get to the PVP. I think that this game has the most potential in the current market (even counting the games in beta) to become what I consider the best MMORPG.
Vanguard is a good suggestion as well. People mentioned that it is not a sandbox but in a way it is. The basic definition of a sandbox is being able to explore the world without resctrictions which you can do in this game. It is more like the original EQ than EQ2 is in many ways, including having a huge world with no instances. It is like a chose your own adventure theme park with very fun classes to play. You are not required to do certain quests to unlock zones or other things that are required like most themepark games so it feels like you can pretty much do your own thing. Unfortunately, PVP no longer exists in this game unless you are having a friendly duel with another.
I had no fun fighting mobs in Fallen Earth or Ryzom . .. wayyy too easy for me. In Fallen Earth I hate the mobs AI. In Ryzom I was able to create a macro to build up my character while AFK by cycling through only a couple buttons (pretty sure I would go brain dead from grinding mobs so easily) . ... and you cannot jump in this game! I did like how you can customize your character in Ryzom though. SWG was great for its time but it is a dying game. I have never tried Wurm . .. looks interesting but a little too old for me now, maybe if this was a few years ago.
