Sniping over heavy weapons

For my TR name I want to master the bolt driver but at the same time, I want to keep my chain gun and decimators. My questions are just that is sniping worth it and can snipers be a good cause on the battlefield?

And yes they are effective but you would need to camp, not be on the battlefield itself.

Err sorry about that, its accually *peers both ways* Oten.... not Chopes, so used to typing that, I have Chopes as a char that I got a feel for the game with, I've moved on to bigger and better things now!

You can always lower your sensitivity to fix that problem, I had to do the same while flying.

Sniping is fairly fun. Its great when you lay a siege to a base to keep troops from coming out of the base, or to clear up bridges from advancing troops. Its even good at chasing BFRs away (snipers destroy BFR systems/items)
Its a bit hard to master, but ive seen people do some realy nice things with a bolt driver.

A good sniper, that knows how to get into good spots can have alot of fun and rack up some good xp, but theres always a downside to sniping. Its just not needed, unless there is a massive amount of troops on the walls of a base, and a massive amount of snipers pinning them down, they dont make much of a difference. If its you alone, chances are you'll kill 3 or 4 guys (6 max if they are stupid) and then someone will catch on and kill you. Unless you are willing to put all your certs (or at least alot) into sniping (Mossy, Av, CE, sniping, Rexo ect.) then you pretty limited and better off using a AV weapon on MA weapon in outdoor battles. A good AV/HA user can rack up much more XP than a sniper. With the intro of BFRs, the time that an outside battle lasts has been lowered and thus making a snipers job harder.
the bolt driver is a great weapons to use, back when i played planetside i used to make 10k exp per day just by sniping, it's not hard to use. it's also pretty fun to use.
the way i used the sniper was for flanking missions (hitting those guys that are healing and hiding behind a tree) it's also very effective when trying to defend the backdoor

Back in the old days (i sould like an old man) sniping used to help alot more. I see much less massive wall fights now than i used to (partly to BFRs) but another thing that made a difference was lag. I know for a fact that back then, at least 1/4 of my kills were from guys who got hit, lagged and died. However, sniping was a ton of fun, and good if you have a low end computer and low FPS. The only sniper i could never kill was Bionic. We would end up fighting for so long that an aircraft of tank or something would get to one of us first.
I tried picking up a sniper last time a played and didnt enjoy it as much, just not alot of skilled snipers left out there...
Btw: Mossie or Atv, CE and Medical are a snipers 3 best friends. Always put a mine and motion sensors behind you, keeps med packs and ammo in the trunk of your ATV, and even if you have medical ALWAYS carry at least 2 med packs. I got so many kills of of snipers that had to go heal themselves with a med device and would leave a foot sticking out or something.
I'm primarily a sniper, I love it. Anyone that says sniping is ineffective in the game now doesn't know everthing a sniper does or can do. We don't just take the grunt out that is spamming green acid from the base walls, or take out that enemy sniper that is racking up the kills and pinning your guys down. Nope, we scout, we take out those nasty spit fires and motion sensors, we cause tanks and maxes to retreat, we help pin down or stop infantry zergs across bridges, we can knock out the shield generator on a BFR with a well placed shot. A good sniper does more than just take out 2 or 3 guys, a good sniper is doing as much damage and creating as much havoc to the enemy as they possibly can.

Snipers not only take down BFR shields (u gotta hit the shield generator which isnt easy with moving BFR) but also destroy items inside BFR. Meaning BFRs will have to go resupply to their base, thus effectively removing that threat for at least several minutes.
Im also wondering what thret sniper rifle is vs tanks - to my knowledge, they are pretty much useless.
