    Ack sorry for dbl post....

I forgot to add.....if you have a Blockbuster near you, they have a rent program where you can keep 1 game at a time for as long as ya want for like 24 per month. Which is on par with a MMO sub. Just keep renting a new game when you get tired of old, and you never have to worry about being late with returning game.

They also have an option for like 32 per month to hold 2 games at a time.

I tried it out last month to check out Spidey Dimensions, Singularity, and Mafia 2....only to end up just buying them as with DLC it was going to take a while to complete all 3 acheivement wise.

Keep in mind you have to have a gaming system.....so you have initial cost there.

Anyways I hope I helped ya out, as there are a lot of great single player games out there that totally destroy MMOs as far as actual gameplay is concerned.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

I suggest LotrO for all you guys bouncing around.  The graphics are some of the best in MMO's, it has a lot of crap to do, and the money is right.  The item shop is almost completely full of nothing you need to play the game also which is nice.  There are a lot of people in the game now that say things like "I forgot the game was this good" etc.  The low population from before the FtP was it's main problem in my opinion.  With the added ways to pay for the game now it's opened up a lot of different options for people to goof around in the world.  You can buy a horse earlier than you used to also which is nice.

I like the skirmishes pretty well because you can either solo or play in a group and they get ridiculously challenging later that makes you want to keep working your character into something that will surpass them.  It gets boring playing games that you can just fly through once you get your characters 3-4 main skills.

I've kind of given up hope on this genre for now. I play SC2 custom maps, and old school SNES games. The last MMO I played was FFXIV, which left me more jaded. I decided instead of playing MMOs for 10-15 hours a week I'd do this fucking retarded workout program called P90X. I leveled up once so far, but the grind is soul-crushing.

I have my eye on TOR and GW2, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

P90X was too freaking hardcore for me. I needed something more casual. :P

Too many titles, too many promises. I liked mmos when there were less to choose from. DCU and TOR should bring everybody back together. Until then get some sleep lol.

It's not just MMOs; I cannot find a single spg either atm! It's unbelievable, as I know I like games but just find nothing out there... so have decided making games is more fun than playing them so that is where the time-sink is directed until things change.

I seem to be having an issue finding a game that I actually enjoy and want to play longer than just a few days.

I am constantly buying/downloading the latest and newest mmo. Be it a p2p or f2p. Makes no difference to me. I am just looking for something that will hold my interest. I played EQ1 for about 3 years. DAOC for about 1 year. WoW for about 2 years. A multitude of other games for a few months.. and now... nothing longer than a few weeks at best.

I seem to be bouncing around, game to game, coming back to old ones to see what has changed. Then a few days later I find another game or go back to a different game.

Anyone else doing this or am I losing my mind?

Same here.. I just keep looking and trying new games but they all just seem to be WoW types nothing new or fun. Almost went back to UO and still looking for a great FFA MMO like UO. Maybe I'll go back to DF since they are switching it up a bit.. blah!

Some of the better F2P games can keep me interested for a few months. I don't expect to get long term enjoyment out of an MMO but if happens then that would be great. Over the past 2-3 years I've played Atlantica, Shot Online, Project Powder, Kingdom Heroes, Aika, etc. and they've kept me busy here and there. Bloodline Champions (not MMO) has been a blast and Vindictus is interesting but I haven't had time for it. I can slowly AFK level in KH so I run it in the background when I'm working on my computer.

I'll be trying out LOTRO a bit more in depth soon. I remember the PvE being way too easy from the P2P days but skirmishes sound like an appealing addition.

Why not return to one of your favorite old games? 1997 - 2004 was really the life of the party for computer gaming. A lot of games have great graphics and some have good gameplay, but don't have the magic to the games of that era, nor the attitude.

I play Thief: Deadly Shadows now and then and I'm often having loads of fun playing Age of Empires II

I guess misery loves company-good to see others having the same problems.

For me the only games I can really play at the moment are LOTRO and EQ2  (I even re-started in AO but nobody playing at all at the lower levels so it seemed kind of pointless to invest time in it).  The games that have come out in the last 3 or so years are an absolute cesspool (Aion, Conan, Warhammer, FF XiV) even 2nd tier stuff like POTBS, Runes of Magic the superhero games etc just dont show any creatvity or innovation.  Hard to figure out what happened to a genre that brought us eq1, UO, WoW, EVE, AO, AC, DAOC-its not just nostalgia speaking-those games had interesting content, good crafting, good dungeon crawls, good mix of questing and sandbox etc.

I am holding out my hopes for Scott Harttsman's next project -he was my former guild leader in eq1 and lead eq2's remarkable turnaround with several highly regarded expansions and now is leading Rifts of Telera.  Other than that perhaps Jumpgate when/if it ever releases

In the meantime ill be dabbling lightly in LOTRO, and keeping an eye on the graphics overhaul of AO (if it ever happens) and probably drifitng back to eq2.  I'll re-roll in eq1 if they release a timed progression server!

GW2 when it hits should be pretty innovative

Til then we have classic gaming to fall back on
