They should have released it yesterday. I'm sick and tired of playing Heroes of Newerth now.
My guess, and this is very optimistic is beta in the fall of 2011 and release in november 2011.
And this is when I go optimistic on the verge of being crazy, beta in mars and release in may.
We'll just have to wait and see, but it demoralizes me to play anything right now when I know that when this hits the shells i'm gonna drop everything.
It would be before, I think the end of the callendar is Dec 21 2012.
what do u mean the end of the calendar is 12 / 21 / 2012.... do u really think the world is gonna end that day and we all gonna die?..... LOLing so hard at science right now
Hopefully when its done. Tired of unfinished games coming out because of some release date
Thats true...
Luckilly the footage we've seen so far looks like the game is in a final development stage...
I even read somewhere that all graphics are allready done... and they are now finalising gameplay.... tough cant remember where i read that.
Hmm, based on that, I'd hazard a guess 4th quarter this year. If I were ANet, I'd try and have it out before Cata. Trying to compete head to head just isn't smart, not if you're trying to get new players anyways.
before cata? that would risk the game to be a crappy mmo like all new ones being developed in a rush and then failing.... better wait more for a breathtaking game than wait less for a.... *bleep censor sound*
My wish is to be released before summer 2011 cause it wont release in q1 thats for sure. Late q2 is possible, but im afraid q3,q4 is a date to place a bet on.
No chance it will make it next year, spring 2012 is a much more likely estimate. Half the classes have not been finished and no whipers of beta, a good year or so of work to do I would say.
Hell last 6 months we got 4 professions, PvP controls, dungeoun mechanics, and races out. Next 6 months the last 4 professions, guild controls, more content info, and who knows what else. i can see open beta near the last quarter of 2011 with the pace Arenanet is setting itself.

I'm still crossing my fingers for end of April, 2011 so it can release around the same time as the anniversary of Guild Wars 1.
Personally, I'm guessing the game is much further along than has been officially acknowledged. But because ANet is so careful about releasing information that is as close to 100% accurate as possible, any features that are 99% complete will be kept under wraps. If much of the game is at this point, there's just no way to tell. The only thing I can go by is the polish of the playable demo and the other officially disclosed features.
There's still no certainty, but I'm hoping to spend next May in Tyria.
how can so many ppl be saying things that obviously have no research put into it....the game is going beta at the end of this year...i'm assuming december...with an early q1 full on release
knowledge is power do your research and dont listen to ppl who obviously know nothing about this game, like saying it's going to come out in 2012......obviously these ppl don't know what they are talking about
As much as I want to put on blinders and say, Yeah man, beta by years end...
I wouldn't imagine this game would be put into beta in the next two months (49 or so left in the year?). They haven't even told us what the last 4 classes are, and I would imagine they want us to beta test a near complete product and not a half implemented product. A 2011 release is feasable, but a 2010 beta is extremely unlikely considering the amount of this game that we still have with a big question mark over it.
Think about it, the guild wars preview event had PvP as well as all 6 classes contained within. On top of that, a large portion of the mid game missions were available to trial. I believe somewhere around 7 - 8 out of 25. You can do research to back it up if you want. As this is simply my opinion, but a rational one I believe.

If you did some research you would know that there is no possible way you could know that game is going beta testing at the end of this year. And early q1 full on release? U gotta be joking. They said they will reveal 1 more profession till the end of this year.
They are still testing pvp mechanics and tweaking unrevealed classes. Hell, 3 races are not even ready yet. Plus underwater system is still part of the game that is being hardly worked on. I dont know what kind of research u did, assuming by your statements, i would tell none, except personal guesses.
And judging by archived threads, u can find comments in 2009 saying game will be out next year. Guess what, 2011 is on the door and we dont even have guild system explained nor crafting.
They've stated that they only talk about things that are already in the game, considering how much they have yet to talk about I would say the game has quite a long way to go. The things I think they need to reveal more on prior to release are :
PVP : We have very little on Instanced PvP matches and the mists PvP, GW was originally built around PvP and balanced around it until the skill splits came in. I'm sure they aren't going to waste that inheritance on PvP being just a sideline from PvE in GW2. We only have basic outlines of what's to come.
We have very little idea about resources and crafting, we know resources can't be camped/stolen, we know there is a tailor profession and a few other little bits but nothing in-depth.
Dungeons, again small basic info but no real meat on the subject.
Underwater play - It's reported to be a big part of the game I'm sure they are keen to show us more.
What is end game ?
Lastly those all important four classes, are we sure they've even decided themselves?
There's also a tonne of things they could be showing us - we've only seen one racial starting city and a couple of areas, there's a tonne we'd all like to know more about
Pointless guessing about the date, it could be far off it could be less than far off but I'm pretty sure it's not just around the corner.

Actually there was that entire week that they did nothing but give us info on Dungeons, so they are pretty much finished with that bit of info. The Underwater play was available in the demo at PAX and Gamescom, so there's also no reason to delve further into that. As for end game... why spoil the surprise? They've said there will be PvP, activities & Dungeons available as endgame content for the user. Sure there could be more but they could just leave it for us to find out as we play. Nothing says they have to reveal every little thing, about the game, before release.
Well we all know that they revealed some core features before showing it off in the demo and ANet still has a lot of core features to reveal, before they can go to beta. So until we know about: the crafting mechanics, PvP in detail, the Guild System and the 4 remaining Professions; there will be no beta. So to further reitterate EvilGeek's final thoughts, there's really no point in further speculating on a release date because its definitely not around the corner.
i really hope gw2 will be RELEASED in 2011. i would be very unhappy if only start testing in 2011 just to release it somewhere in 2012. 'it will be released when its ready', gosh i would really like to at least know a year of release -.-
Their plan is obviously to slowly trickle out professions and other gameplay and story details about the game, then follow that up with a long series of closed beta tests, followed by a short open beta and then a launch. My expectation is that the game will be launched around the end of next year. These guys don't rush their products to launch. We saw that with the first Guild Wars.
As far as Beta, I expect them to start around Q2 2011...there's so much content to test that beta testing is going to take a really long time.

Meh... no updates or class revelations also this week. It'll probably be a Spring beta, yes.

They also had it listed for Nov/2010 about a year ago and then after that they had it listed in January 2010

I already stated that the game would be playable as of February 2011.

I was in Gamestop this weekend and they told me that the release date for GW2 was Jan 2011 and they are now taking reservations.
With no info on the last four classes, and no talk of a beta, I don't think a January release is even remotely possible.
