General: Transformers MMO a Reality

At the annual Hasbro Investors' Meeting held recently, it was revealed that a Transformers MMO is definitely in the works. Being developed by NetDragon, the MMO will be released initially in China and Korea but will definitely be ported to other nations as well. This was confirmed by Mark Blecher of Digital Gaming Evolution.
Mark Blecher, then came to talk about gaming. Talked about Hub Website Games. Talked about Revenge Of The Fallen game and War For Cybertron (E3 Trailer was playing after that). War For Cybertron 2 coming in 2012. AND the upcoming Transformers Massively Multiplaying Online Game WILL get ported to other countries as well. YAY!!!

I always had a feeling the Transformers were full of lead
But can we be Dinobots? Or part of a constructor robot like Devastator, Bruticus, etc.?
Either way, I grew up with the original Transformers (toys, comics, the whole deal) so the IP has me curious as to how they'd balance the vehicular side with the megaton robotic battle side.

It may be more like the movies rather than the classic Transformers (that I also grew up on with Bumblebee being a yellow VW Bug)
I think you are right. Still, Dinosaur Robots + Michael Bay = stuff blowing up like it always does, but it could be a draw! Maybe.
If Blaster is in the game, I'm going Decepticon just for the chance to blow his contrived jive-talking ass away.

While I love sandbox games. This is one time I will definitely say that its just NOT the way to go.
Transformers is about battles, fighting, and story. In this specific case, a Theme Park MMO is probably the best fit for the IP.

I so so do not like the movie design.... But saddly this will be a small game like free realms or some such with a horrid grind and zero options for custimization... Feel free to dig up this post if it against all odds turns out to be a decent game.

Plus making them look that way in the live action movie made it seem like they were really Techno Organic beings from another world.
Me too, the comment that this will come from the East might make this a grinder we all become accustomed to. Who knows?

Next we'll have a GI Joe MMO after the next movie
I really doubt they'll have multiplayer giant bots. Unless it were something that they worked into the system that every player could do, which would mean that any group of players could form into something, then join another group and form into something with them. Something akin to fellowship manuevers in LotRO.
I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I don't imagine them getting a serious company to make a serious MMO. I'd bet this will be more like the clone wars MMO. But I can only speculate.
Clone Wars isn't bad it's not Super great either but it's not bad
But you also have to keep in mind that the FreeRealms gang @ SOE worked on the Clone Wars too
This Transformers thing is being worked on by Asian slavelords so it'll be eXteel with Transformers! bleh
