EVE Online: Incursion to be Delayed

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The latest EVE Online developer blog from CCP Zulu indicates that the Incursion expansion is going to be delayed. The dev team will be releasing what Zulu is calling "a beefy update" later this month, with a first step patch coming November 30th. A 'second step' patch will be released in December and key Incursion features to be released in January 2011.

Zulu presented a list of features that may be included in the November update. This list, as he says, is not limited to but should include most of the items below:

  • 80 new story line courier missions

  • Rocket balancing

  • Tech 2 ammo balancing

  • Adding faction ships to the market

  • Fighter bomber missile visual effects changes

  • Anti-aliasing support

  • Window resizing, camera offset

  • Meta-item indicator icons

  • UI optimization to contract delivery filtering

  • Cargo can now be dragged to hangar by dropping on Neocom

  • Toggling probes in overview

  • POS gunners now receive notifications about control towers under attack

  • Sorting deliveries according to distance in jumps or regional locations

  • Unique icons for Microwarpdrives and Afterburners

"Unique icons for Microwarpdrives and Afterburners" damn 4ish years later lol....that should be a nice update to the game there. Sadly I lost interest in eve long ago when it made all small gang fighting and fleet fights pointless.

We'll see what this new patch is then decide if EVE is going to be an exciting game to be played again.

My hat is off to CCP.  They have responded to the players and are putting out the fixes people have been wanting AND have delayed an expansion until it is ready, demonstrating a commitment to excellence over quantity.  That is a HUGE step in the right direction and takes some major gonads. Kudos CCP. image

Still no walking in stations :(

The rest of it sounds cool though.

With recent expansions, this delay is a welcome sight.

They need to make sure everything is polished up before putting it on tranq. from here on out. Even if it means delays and not living to the 2 expansions per year policy.

Walking-in-stations, or Incarna as it is now officially named, is slated for Summer 2011.  The new character generation coming in this expansion is the prelude to it.

Yeah I just have this sinking feeling that walking in stations will be pushed back again due to this setback.

I got my account resubbed last month because i heard news of incursion and was interested in the new PvE elements.. Spent the whole month updateing skills pretty much.. Did a few missions but they bore me to tears and can't really pvp because my corp is so inactive.. Looks like ill skip the sub this month and check back when ever they get around to actually releaseing incursion.. Glad i read this, saves me $15.

I don't think its going to be pushed back to winter 2011, just maybe pushed to june or agust apart from that it will still be on track for summer.

    This is not a game.

It means players can put faction ships up on sale on market. Its not seeded on market. It works the same way as contracts, but you can't get scammed.

Hopefully this will give them time to also fix Hybrids.

Rails are useless except for being used on bonus ships for PvE reasons. Even then they still suck. It's bad when a Kronos with rails and drones is out dpsed by a Paladin with just guns. And they are both faction fitted.

Personally looking forward to the UI changes, been waiting for them since 2006.

Id love to see rockets useful. Man i love rocket ships. the only small mission ships i fly are rocket ships. (hope they make the buggers smaller too, they fire like crazy)
