FFXIVCore.com has let us know about a pair of 'large scale updates' planned for Final Fantasy XIV. The updates are scheduled to go live in November and December and will include a huge variety of bug fixes, enhancements, improvements, adjustments, etc. FFXIVCore.com has the full list of changes coming broken down by those to be deployed in November and those coming in December.
Goal-Oriented Content & Comprehensive Tutorials
Together with the aforementioned improvements to gameplay, the availability of "goal-oriented" content and items, and the need for comprehensive and clear tutorials are issues that will be immediately addressed.
In the hopes of providing players with opportunities to engage in such content as soon as possible, the November version update will see a reduction in the amount of skill points required to reach rank 20. By effectively reducing the amount of time necessary to reach rank 20, players will sooner be able to gain access to class quests and high-rank guildleves.

Too late.
Nice, gives me another goal to work towards and that extra space will certainly come in handy

Finaly.
LOL seriously ? Game is not even 2 months old.
The moment my levequest updated about killing something before the animation happened and the mob even took damage is the moment I logged off and never logged back in.

I think someone forget to tell the devs that the game was for the PC.

Put my account on hold.
I'll look back in late December/Janauary when they claim all of this will be implemented.
Until then, I sadly admit I can't even log in to play a FREE game. (since they aren't charging anyone right now)
Wake me when the updates are completed, please.
"TO MICHAEL!"
I'll be resubbing when the PS3 release comes around. Until then, I'm just going to play games that have content and check the XIV fansites to see the reaction to the updates. Hope they can get it together.
Playing - EVE, Wurm
Retired - Final Fantasy XI, Anarchy Online, Mabinogi
Waiting - ArcheAge, Salem
Yep. Too little too late. Sorry, that's my opinion.
Its never "Too Late" to improve something. While I understand that by "Too Late" your just saying the opportunity for FFXIV to win you over has passed, its certainly never too late to try and improve.
I was looking over the notes and I think I will give it another go after the 2011 patch, the drag and drop feature, I think at that point enough of my problems will have been addressed to try it again. I absolutely love the Graphics and animations so I really hope this game gets on track and succeeds. I know I gave up on Tabula Rasa and now its gone... (still sad) man I wish TR would have made it...

it's not too late, but they better get their butts in gear and start putting out quality patches fast. the PS3 launch might still save them but only if the game has vastly improved by then. and i mean V A S T L Y...
Yeah I bought the game at launch but haven't opened it yet. I'm waiting to see how much has changed by the PS3 launch, then I'll finally consider giving it a go. By the sounds of these updates though it seems the disaster of the PC launch has given SE a much-needed wake up call.
It all sound very promising.
I'll be back in January to see for myself if the changes are satisfactory in practice & not just in theory.
At least they are trying. The game bombed so hard, i'm sure the option to trash it & limit the loses was on the table.
I read it through - and what I read sounds great - but I am tired and feeling sick so I may have missed it; any mention of combat bug fixes? I'm getting fairly aggravated with mobs constantly resetting on me (especially you, billy goats -.-) or waiting 10 seconds for "Readying Phalanx..." with my action bar greyed out just to then get "That action can not be performed."
If those bugs can get squashed, along with party members randomly appearing dead when they're not, I'd be extremely happy.
I think the light at the end of the tunnel being that, I highly doubt this game will ever be ported to the PS3, is probably being seen by Squenix loud and clear. They obviously see a strong need to finally cater to PC gamers as completely as possible.
They have a long way to go and really they need to just destroy everything about the games interface and start over.
They are forced to release FFXIV for PS3 cause most people that want to play the game can't afford 1k+ $$$ PC, $300 for a PS3 is reasonable price and I know so many people waiting for FFXIV PS3 version.
Agreed. With MMOs you only ever get 1 launch.

2 months old and the'yre finally fixing *SOME* of the shit that should have been fixed before launch. Seriously, who at SE played this game and went .."hmmm yes, this game is ready for launch!"?
Say that to CCP
Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!
Seriously, most games that fail at launch, never recover. This is the key issue Square-Enix ignored.
Had Square-Enix actually listened to their testing base they wouldn't be where they are. had they listened to everyone on the beta testing forums screaming, "Hey this game isn't done yet, you probably want to delay the game." They could have done better. Now the game will pretty much be a dead duck, as is the fate of most MMOs that fail their launch.
EvE was released in a different time frame, pre-WoW, an era where MMO communities were much more forgiving. That's not to mention that in the grand scope EvE really isn't THAT successful, it's a niche game with a very small player base.
Cataclysm will kill this game. Wake me up when it goes F2P.
Isn't that successful? It has over 300k subscribers, I don't know of any other subscription based MMO's that caters to the English speaking market that can boast those numbers besides the anomaly that is WoW.
I'm probably going to wait until shortly before the PS3 release. That way I'll still get a bit of a PC head start but hopefully have that much more content to play.
