EQ2 Trial ......

docminusdocminus Member Posts: 717

Well, I am usually not the kind who whines & complains right away, esp. not if something is for free, as e.g.
EQ2 Trial of the Isle. ::::01::
But let me see now:
Wasted time to set up my router (it is not 1 or 2 ports, noooo, umpteen ports that have to be opened)
Used luckily a copy of a magazine. but had to downloaded of course patch. ::::10::
Start game - ::::34::
client & server version not compatible. Grrrrr. :26
Okay - check forums & support.
Seems like the program can only be installed in C:sonystation...
excuse me? come again? ::::12:: I don't want to install to C for backup & saftey reasons!

anyway, tried all the tricks acc to a forum post - didn't work. So, try to post to the forum - I can't! I have to use my confirmatiion code I received via email. *I DID*! Still can't post! ::::25:: ::::26::

I must have wasted at least 3 hours or so on this, got tired of it, so I am sorry to say, but I deleted EQ2 trial. I was really looking forward to it. ::::37::

Sorry for the rant - I usually don't do that, but I have to ventilate somewhere - and for all you who got the trial to work, good for you, I am happy for you. Too bad for Sony though, a customer less.

    hmm that's odd

I know many people who used D:Programfiles... or some other sort and it worked fine

That's very odd. I would contact support (via the phone) to see if you can get some assistance

The free trial should be practically the same setup as the regular game...and right now I have mine in F:Program FilesGamesMmorpgsSonyStationEverquest2

So i would assume the free trial would be similiar. Sorry for your frustration man

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

My friend had the same problem last night, he was using a copy from PC ZONE,  anyway he got his working by... installing the patcher from the eq2 site and making backup copies of the PAKS and i think the UI folders from his current directory. Then he just copied the folders to the new installation and all worked well. I will try and find the link he used and post it for yah...but all he did was google the error and only one link appeared, just use qouteations around the error message...
