Yup, when my free time expires I'm pretty much done with this game.

It will get better I'm sure. But I'm done paying for games I'm not enjoying. It wasn't ready to be released and they did it anyway.

Maybe they'll realize that isn't a good way to do business one day.

They have a long way to go and really they need to just destroy everything about the games interface and start over.

They are forced to release FFXIV for PS3 cause most people that want to play the game can't afford 1k+ $$$ PC, $300 for a PS3 is reasonable price and I know so many people waiting for FFXIV PS3 version.

Huh?  What world are you living in.  Just updated my daughter's PC new motherboard, 3g 4 core processor, 4gb memory and a decent graphics card that plays games well for $455 and some change.  If I put her on windows 7 it is just another $95 and that system is way better than a PS3.  You can get similar refurbished systems for close to that and many of them have windows 7.  If you have to have blue ray, you can get blue ray drives for $65 now.

    too late

The game is already considered a flop, nothing they do will rise this game to a AAA standard, it will remain as niche game just like its predecessor...

i don't understand these companies that have been rushing their games out the door especially when it comes to a large ip. do it right the first time you greedy f'ers. this game and many other games alike is the primary reason i'm holding out for gw2. as much as i hate blizzard this is an area they excel at as well vs pieces of trash such as this game.

    To see is to believe.

They said the same about Aion; and when I looked up the changes ingame, it was still the same old, essentially.  Maybe much later and when they have a trial I would give it a try.

LOL seriously ?  Game is not even 2 months old.

They clearly released an unfinished game, somthing that a big company like SE shouldnt be doing, seems to me they were out of money before the release, Ive only tried the open beta and didnt win me at all due to the huge lack of content and the release seems the same according to reviews, I wont buy this game until it looks like a real game (up to SE previous game's standard)

Yep. Too little too late. Sorry, that's my opinion.

Turbine proved there's no such thing as "too late" to fix a game.

However, I think FF14 was a niche game in the western market to begin with, and many of the devotees who were prepared to love it felt a bit betrayed by SE.

For better or for worse, they had a chance to get in before Cataclysm and steal a bit of it's thunder, but now they're not going to have the fixes in before Cataclysm releases, and folks are going to forget about FF14 for a while as they try out Cataclysm.

The Guild Wars 2 comes out.

Maybe it'll come back in a year, when folks have gotten their fill of WoW and GW2. But they seem to have blown their chance for the next 6 months at the least.

I agree with most everybody else.  To late is an understatement.  They fumbled pretty much every facet of this game and marketing and it won't easily recover.

Of course they are going to make big promises.. that's their job.

I'll believe it when I see it and even then the game is already a lost cause.  There are a half dozen things to play right now that give more for your money and another half dozen on the way by the time the game reaches a state where it can even compete.  Who are they kidding.

All MMOs have been rushed out the door and they always will. GW2, SW:TOR, Earthrise, Cataclysm, TERA, TSW most likely will be rushed and unfinished. In the end only those that have a loyal following or fan base will survive because they will stick with the game until it's fixed or taken down. People still play AOC and it has bugs and unfinished content that has not been fixed since release.

SW:TOR, Cataclysm and GW2 have a fan base and will do fine. The others however will slowly decline. Aion is an example of a recent MMO that is decent and all but it has no real IP or fan base and is in a downward spiral.

FF14 has a fan base and a devloper with 10 year of end game experience. FF11 still holds the throne if it comes to end game activities. No other MMO is as diverse and has that many different end game options. Most have just 1, Raid until your head falls off or PvP forever. Not very appealing to me personally.

I trust SE, the current game is not finished and has some bugs and quirks, overall it is enjoyable and has the right difficulty to give you a feeling of achievement. Something most MMO completely lack.

I am looking forward to the update.

For a 2010 game, this was the worst MMO released! These updates are way to late! SE should stay out of the MMO market until they play a few successful MMO's!

Actually Turbine proved both that a troubled game can be fixed, if the underlying game is solid enough, and the press is not outright horrible (DDO, LotRO) and they proved that there are some failures that just cannot be fixed and maintained as an ongoing product. No matter how many of the problems you fix. Even if the resulting long term game is superb, if the launch was horrible enough to outright inflame most of the paying playerbase, you will never recover. AC2 was a clear example of this.

Right now FFXIV is AC2. It is so flawed and has so absolutely revolted such a degree of the MMO subscribing population that there really is almost nothing they can do to recover. Yeah they may make a better or even a fun game. But virtually no one will come back. (and the parrellels with AC2 really are astonishing when you sit and look at them).

Sorry, but saying that Cataclysm will released unfinished is just a completely uncredible accusation. Blizzard is the king of polish and it's one of the reasons why people continue to play their game. World of Warcraft also has many other options to do besides Raiding and PVP, but the mainstream crowd likes to generalize it into two categories to make their argument seem stronger.

As far as FFXIV, the game is enjoyable for you, whereas games like WoW are not. A large majority would disagree and that disagreement would stem to the update being "too little too late".

Isn't that successful? It has over 300k subscribers, I don't know of any other subscription based  MMO's that caters to the English speaking market that can boast those numbers besides the anomaly that is WoW.

Now that the free trial is almost over, I wonder how many subscribers they will retain?

This is one of those games where you will have to be very patient as they fix the bugs and roll out the content.  There are no magic fixes for the game in it's present condition.  It just needs content to flesh it out.  Maybe by next summer it will be worth trying again.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Sony says.... "Yahhhhhh hold on a moment before you make that for our console"... Anyone remember when AOC was advertised to be on the 360. Microsoft was like... "Uh no"
