World Of warcraft (wow)

World of Warcraft is a great game by all means. The world is gigantic the fighting engine is great, and the many quests that are throughout the game are a challenge by far. But alot of people are angry because they have to pay to be able to play the game. I think the game is worth paying for, it's not even that much. My suggestion is to use the pre-paid gaming cards, that have the two months on them. What do u think?

    What I think?

Well I think that I will skip WoW and get Guild Wars instead, I'm still pending but the chances that I will buy it this week is pretty high ::::01::

Why pay WAY too much a month if you can get a game that is just as good for a better price ::::35::

100% disagree. Players are complaining about technical issues like downtime, the need to queue during peak play (I don't even play WoW and I queue plenty IRL, let alone having to queue to play a game that I've paid subcription costs!?), lag, etc.

The only people who complain about Pay to Play are those who either cannot afford to play or don't have a regular income. The cost to play WoW or any other MMOG is what the market will bear (as another poster elegantly put it) - competition plays a large part in keeping prices down. $15 seems the average cost per month for subscriptions (might be less), and if you make a price comparison per buck per hour, MMOGs are far and away one of the cheapest forms of entertainment. Admittedly, initial capital for the Pc and retail box can be quite steep.

People can either play GW or stick to free MMOGs. The best deal at the moment is SoE: play all of their products for around $21-22 per month.

This isn't a WoW topic - it's a Pay to Play one, and it be interesting to watch the development of GW's pricing model (not just because I'm studying accountancy either).

I have a couple of RL mates that are giving their copys away atm.. but people will aways want something for nothing and we all know that for most good things in life there is a price tag.

With any mmorpg I would advise folk to but the minimum amount of gametime to start off with, at least wait and see if you actually like the game before parting with more money (Eh Paul? lolz).

WoW is a good game. Nothing ground breaking, but I enjoy playing it. Servers are fine as long as you dont go to the ones that are allready jam packed. Great game if you dont have hours and hours to spend online.

If you wanna turn this into a WoW vs GW thread then...

Guild Wars is a nice little game, its fast and fun, but its not an MMoRPG, its not about character development. If you play GW like an MMoRPG you are gonna run outta content fast and for me anyway, PvP is fun some of the time but can get old, just like PvE in a pure carebear game does.

I wont put down either game, they both have fun parts and they both have faults. I would recomend buying either game.

How is WoW doing on lag and server issues? was planning on trying it again, but got discouraged, decided to get Guild wars instead, kind of dissapointed, it feels more like a single player game then a online, only human interaction i have had is someone walking up to me and saying "Gimme all ur muny or i pwnz j00 ass"

umh i kinda agree with the comment about putting minimum time into the game to find out if you really like it.. or!

i think people that are not sure (skeptic?) wether to buy a game or not, shoulda tried out the possible beta. if that wasn't possible then they should either try to get a hold of a friend and try it - or at the very least wait for a possible trial.

until then, guild wars look promising both gameplay wise and payment wise..

(i myself are pretty stupid, ive bought ffxi, swg and wow only to find out that i'd be playing them for like 2 months each.. now i don't even find the time at all because i got a girlfriend - but with the release of RotW i might subscripe to swg again image)

WoW is complete crap IMO.  The community is horrible, PvP is stacked and repetitive, and customer support sucks.

Fun for the first week...but a waste of money overall.

Just because someone has a free game or lower monthly rate for multiple games, doesn't make it a better deal. If the games suck, like GW or any of SOE's games, then they have no value at all.

I don't understand all the people who complain about a $50 box and $15 a month subscription rate for playing one MMOG title. Like Riotgirl said, this is the lowest cost of entertainment you will find. If you people can afford the computers to play these games , then you or your parents can obviously afford to purchase the games and monthly fees.
