i dont know which one to do, ive played Coh and WoW, liked them both very much, but still i dont know which one to become dedicated too! please post suggestions or just vote.
CoH will take slightly longer to level all the way up.
CoH is faster and superhero like, where you will be outnumbered on every fights. In WoW if you have 3 enemy against you and they are all higher level then you, it wont be an easy fight ever if you even can do it, in CoH, 3 enemy against you is normal...10 against you while you solo is prolly the equivalent of 3 or 4 in WoW for the rating of the encounter(if all minions). So do not compare a 1 mob vs 1 mob, it is not applicable.
CoH groups can substain 8 characters instead of 5, but after 4 it is extremely harder since the game is really fast.
IMO, CoH is more complete then WoW on what they do, yet WoW is chaotic everywhere, so WoW do a little of everything and never master anything. So if you want to do various things, go for WoW, if you want more deph, althought it is nothing astonishing, CoH definitely have more deph then WoW.
Travels powers and metro station completely left WoW behind in the dust when it come to travelling efficiently and not wasting time running again in that long boring travel...yet WoW is not that bad on this topic, but compare to the Champion of the topic that is CoH, it is doing poorly. There is no customization whatsoever in WoW, your an orc, you look just like most of the others orcs...Zzzz...CoH is again the champion of customization, if you dont look like a popular hero or person, then you are unlikely to find someone looking like you unless maybe you have a very weird taste(like trying to look nude or whorish).
Really differents games. I would never play WoW as long as a nice game like CoH is out there! But that is a personnal choice and you ask in the CoH section, I am sure the WoW section will see it differently.

i like both of the games and have played them both. Wow is a little more uncontrollable and sometimes very hard to just go along by yourself without getting killed in 5 seconds by horde. Even when city of villians comes out it will still not be as frantic ganking and killing uncontrollably, and Coh doesnt have a bunch of people finding new ways to hack...i think
well of course CoH is gonna win on the CoH forum silly. I personaly was not a big CoH fan but now that PvP is comming im gonna start playing again. so IMO i think CoH when PvP comes out will be a better game then WoW but then again theres always the chance they could screw up the PvP.
In my honest opinion, I'd have to say CoH over WoW, and not because this is a CoH forum. I don't play either of them now, but I only played WoW for a month and played CoH for about seven months! That should kind of sum it up right there. However, it really comes down to personal preference. If you want a casual game with missions and are a big time comic fan then stick with CoH, but if you want more out of a game such as more semi-hardcore gaming, items, trading, PVP (CoH doesn't have it as of yet), then go with WoW.
CoH is purely made just to have fun. You never have these depressing moments, when you fail to create this or that item, the community is really fun and helping I think, it's very easy to get into this game, but it also may get repetitive, but that's why people take a small break from a game and come back later on.

Nah, not really... many reasons can be behind that.
ok, this is such a biased poll. In the first place if you ask that in the CoH forums you'd obviously get more ppl that say CoH is better whereas if you post it in the WoW forums you'd get more ppl to say that WoW is better.
It depends on what you mean by "better." I personally think that they're both good games. I played WoW and created the strongest guild on Lighning's Blade, but, it got boring. You can only do the same thing over and over so many times! I've only played CoH for a few days so I can not comment on how it stands with the repetativeness that most mmorpgs face.
Why ask the question in the first place? I say try both of them again and see what you wanna play more. They are very different in sytle so I'd say you cant compare them, just play both til you get bored of them and move on. Usually when you become dedicated to it, it starts to get boring. Thats the first step I think. Thats when it becomes more of a job then something you do for fun.

Yes, there are many reasons behind that! After playing WoW for a month, I felt like I had to play seven days a week to keep up with everyone else and get my money's worth. Not only that, but I got tired of getting in certain teams where loot sharing was NOT implemented and having money/item hungry people taking all the loot and then wanting to sell it to others on the team eventhough it was just dropped. Then as I got into the upper levels, I felt lost and that all I could do was farm mobs for special item drops while trying to level. Still to this day, I have no desire to go back, not one.
Now as for CoH, it's a very unique MMORPG that not other one out there even comes close in similarities with heroes and all. I have played for about 8 months now (just went back again for the 8th time a little while ago). It can get repetitive, but then again, what game DOES NOT get repetitive? Yes, alot of people say that CoH gets repetitive with the missions and all, but it's more laid back and doesn't leave you feeling like you "have" to play for each dollar you sinked in for that monthly subscription or to keep up with others. That's what I like!
I'm not really a casual player, but I do play CoH alot and I always have something to do like badge hunting, missioning, TF, AVing, helping guild memebers, and now that PvP is being introduced, I can imagine the possiblities with guild battles and much more associated with that.
Now, before some WoW fanboy comes here and flames me for the first paragraph, I'm not saying WoW is a bad game all around. Actually I think WoW is unique in its own ways like with mounts, powers, weapons, character personalities and lot of other things I'm not thinking of at the moment. However, when it comes down to the "nity grity", it just wasn't for me nor was my hard earned money. Simple as that.
Again, it's all based on personal preference, no one is actually better then the other. An argument/debate can go on and on and on just like when EQII vs. WoW posts where showered all over the boards especially in the WoW/EQII boards of course; they eventually led to nowhere. Personal preference...make up your own mind.

Sometimes I'll tag along a group of them and drop a "Flash" to mezz mobs which are like 3 levels higher than them (but all greys to me) and let the mow them down one at a time while I just hang around and drop RA to fix up their endurance... I get no XP out of it but I do get the enjoyment of feeling useful..

I prefer CoH over WoW.
However I feel like addint to this comment.
Personnnaly I am all for NBG(need before greed), I am against first looter get the loot and for a random system, and I can deal with someone that win it keeping it or selling it or whatever and not following the NBG comon sense, it is acceptable. Everyone have right to dream to get the loot and sell it and become rich, and altought personnally I always NBG to someone in need unless I dislike the person heavily, I can accept peoples who want a random and selling items.
However, I find it pretty rude and unacceptable when peoples selling items they earn with a group dont offer a first sell picking to their group member. See, warrior03 win a caster item. In a group made of strangers this is fine and acceptable(especially when caster already win another item that is better and caster is extremely happy with say item, sharing the loot pie is definitely acceptable), yet eventually the opposite will happen to say warrior and peoples have memory, but the key feature is he WON a random pick. Acceptable if not ideal. However, when I see warrior03 selling the caster item for a price that a group member was ready to pay him to have the item, outside of the group and to strangers(bazaar or open market) while say group member is offline, I get REALLY pissed. I think it is someone duty to offer to everyone in their group to buy the item before going to sell on open market to strangers, even at the price to trace them back if you change mind. If warrior03 have a plan for friendY, but friendY say he dont want item. It is the duty of warrior03 to see if anyone in the group want to buy from him before going to bazaar.
I will group a person who win a random way for a loot and sell it back, as long as they offer a first pick on any new price they set for say item. It is comon sense and respect of the peoples you group with. You have a right to win loot and sell it, but you also have duties.
(In the exemple above(early PoP), I was the chanter who win my C5 spell back in EQ, so I was happy with the group, extremely happy with the group, when warrior win a FT2 item with better stats then what I was wearing, it was fine, I mean he have a right to earn stuff as well and can use the money...I was ready to pay the guy 80k for the item back then, he told me no, he keep it for a friend...fine, it is acceptable, later I log...the next day I learn he sold the item for 50k in the bazaar...I was extremely angry...add to the fact that in 300 AAs camping the same damn spot(a lot of time hehe) I was unlucky and the same item never drop again(ornate armor bracer), needlessly to say, I never group that warrior ever again...he didnt have to be nice with me, but before selling in bazaar to strangers what we earn together and I was ready to meet his price...well...I was really angry and consider he didnt deserve my presence in his groups(and you know a chanter not grouping you systematically back then in old EQ harm you a lot as a warrior as far as groups goes...especially when it is the chanter with the most AAs on the server despite crappy gear, and that nearly everyone agree I was at least a decent choice if guildies chanters where not available, like silver is always good if gold is not available)).

I played both and I reallly liked CoH but my friends play Wow so that is the game I am playing now. MMORPG can be fun soloing, but if you play with friends its a whole different experience. My advise would be to play the game that you have the most friends that play around the same time frame as you.
I was also wondering how good COH is, right now im playin WOW which gets me bored ive been playin it since it came out. All u do is lvl get killed and gank people which get boring at times whin u hit 60 highest lvl it gets realy boring couse u have nothin to do.. Im hoping COD is defferent couse im planning to buy it and it seems like its my type of game.. And yet thats just me <---- my horny face
About three days ago I was getting a little bored with WoW and reinstalled CoH for a change of pace.
I played CoH for about 5 hours. Those 5 hours of CoH made me appreciate WoW oh so much more. There are numerous things that CoH does well, but most of these things WoW does better.
Here is what I don't like about CoH:
The "Nerf Hammer" always looming! Will I be next? What is going to happen to my toon? Will I get a respec out of it? Will it matter?
Nerf Hammer also related to Gimping my toon fears... too much anxiety in choosing powers... if you choose the wrong power and slot it the wrong way it will greatly influence your hero's ability to play the game!
Along the previous lines.... the only GOOD tactical travel power is Superspeed which kinda sucks cause as a blaster i would like superjump or fly!
The Grind is too much it makes the game about getting to the next level for the next power, instead of finishing missions and saving lives.
XP Debt, as if the grind wasn't bad enough now you've got debt and if your a Blaster you will have alot of this fun xp debt.
I really love the grapics and the feel of the game and maybe if they ever take a page from WoW's book I will come back. I think what makes WoW so successfull is that its not a chore to play and that you go out and have fun and still the xp comes in steadily.

Funny you should bring that up. Got done reading the WoW boards and I see Nerf this and Nerf that all over the place. Every MMO has Nerf issues
Nerf Hammer also related to Gimping my toon fears... too much anxiety in choosing powers... if you choose the wrong power and slot it the wrong way it will greatly influence your hero's ability to play the game!
What power is the Wrong power? Every power I've played has been fun and nothing seems Wrong. Although now they are making travel powers actually travel related (on test they have implimented a -50% acc to SS and SJ) Easiest way around the restriction is using /binds
Along the previous lines.... the only GOOD tactical travel power is Superspeed which kinda sucks cause as a blaster i would like superjump or fly!
This I disagree with 100%. I've got a level 45 blaster who uses Combat Jumping and Super Jumping a lot for tactics in combat. My Ice controller is always flitting about the combat getting into better positions to slow my opponenets. My scrapper actually uses Teleport to enter combat. use his AOE strike as an alpha and then TP out.
The Grind is too much it makes the game about getting to the next level for the next power, instead of finishing missions and saving lives.
XP Debt, as if the grind wasn't bad enough now you've got debt and if your a Blaster you will have alot of this fun xp debt.
Been playing for over a year, only noticed the grind when I soloed. When I play with teams, always having fun, don't even bother looking at XP. I'm always looking forward to completing story arcs and now it's Arch Villians
Well, that's my 2 inf. What it all comes down to is personal preference. You don't have to like CoH, just like I don't like WoW (was in beta and 1st month...didn't care much for it...Give me a mob of hellions to fight anytime over 2 wolves)
your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't
I've played both of them about the same ammount of time, and I'd definately say CoH is the superior game. It is just more...fun... The missions are challenging and fun, I love exploring the places, even if I've been in a similar one its cool beating things up... I LOVE the character customization, I spend almost all my inf on costume changes just because i always get new ideas for a design, but i do keep my "classic" look I've had since level 1, It's just who my character is.
In WoW though... the quests are never fun, due to the pvp aspect of the game, i don't mind getting attacked by someone while questing but when that person is 10+ levels higher its just horrible. Didn't help that i was fighting wolves at levle 40...the exact same as when i was level 1 just in a different location, in a random spot, walking around, for no reason... Bandits sitting on the top of a hill, just walking in their pre-defined paths, the quests to kill them are just like, ya these guys are bad, go get em. The armor is horrendously ugly, not to mention how bad the capes are, ugliest capes ever, even daoc ones are better. It's just sickening how bad the characters look.
WoW just is not a fun game after awhile. Quests stop being fun at 30, instances at around 40-50 and pvp at 45. The game is balanced around "group" pvp but that never happens, for all the times i spent in there, i never once got into a non-zerg group pvp situation, it was either zerg, or 1v1 or 5v1... its just not fun.
WoW has a great system, alot of good ideas, but to me at least it doesnt put it together in a way that makes it a enjoyable experience, i played to level, never once i did i really truly enjoy a quest, it was just a grind in a different way, a boring way, alot of running, ALOT of running
on a side note I'd have to disagree with cumbom's "review" in every way, shape, and form. (how did you asses ALL the travel powers in the 5 hours you played? mysterious)
As for the topic, I'd pick CoH over WOW. Both of them will wear thin after a while. But in CoH, grouping is king - and they provide you with a server wide search so you can always get a group (this tool should standard issue in mmo's). It's just lots of fun.
It's the game that makes you ask "what do heroes do when they are not saving the day?" the awnser is cancell your account! But I always renew, because its the only mmo that attempted to make combat fun (and succeded).
Well I play both games and I still like CoH a bit better than WoW, even though I like my fantasy type Rpg's cause I use to play EQ for 3 years and games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior were my faovirte types of games to play when I was growing up. Even though the majority of players play WoW, they have some 60+ server and many of them are highly populated. I still can't find a group in WoW and had a friend push me through some quests. But I guess I haven't tried hard enough to find one. It all really depends on your tastes, do you just want to run the mean streets of a city and beat up badguys with super powers, fly through the air or run at super speed, or do you want to run around swinging a sword and cast spells and sit and wait on your mana and hp before you can fight again. Try one, and if you don't like it, try the other one.

best quote ever. If you want to know infomation on a game, read up on it and not as for yes/no opinions.
BTW, if you like to kill, level and adventure, then CoH and WoW is good
If you want to buy stuff, earn money, adventure, kill, level, etc. WoW is better on that.
somthin like that, don't take my word for it. do some REASEARCH.
