Foundry = Make the game for us!

Because weekly episodes, revaming sector space and listening to their customers is Cryptic being lazy? Can't say i expected much from a forum full of venom and borg like collectiveness.

No this is a step in the right way , while most mmo i wouldn´t recommend a Architect Entertainment (sorry thats the name from city of heroes , so this is just a copy)

In STO it might help populate the planets with succesfull missions .

Thumbs up here , no negativity about this .

Why do you call them "weekly" episodes, you only get a couple of missions every two to three months and each only lasts 20 minutes.  I guess from a fanboi it is awesome that the two biggest features of season 3 are "make your own content" and "do-over the stuff you already did".

Great news, I just hope there is not a limit to creations. I have a lot of stuff in mind (like going through each season's episodes and including the best of them in a new, original manner). Got a team of writers (well, 4 of us anyways, two are published authors) that can't wait, we will make are own damn STO (within the limits of the Foundry of course).

i'm carefully hesitant to get excited about this. for every great fan fic out there there's a mountain of crap and to be honest, why people aren't a bit more pissed that they are paying 15 bucks to make their own content for a game that should offer a more engaging upfront experience I dunno.  It woulda helped alot of player housing came with season 3 to encorage more socialization.  The revamp of sector space should have happend before closed beta ended, noone liked it then.  It's kinda disappointing that it took 9 months for the people at atari to realize the game was forced out by a bad agreement with cbs...but thy are trying and I might come back because well, there ain't crap out there i wanna play maybe besides the f2p apb when it comes back.

    so say we all

We think this game is crap. The game will never be successful. It will fail miserably, resistance is futile. It will be assimilated into crap game history. 2 stars out of 10. We are MMORPG borg.

In otherwords, in comparison to a lot of other games on the market, STO isn't a contender. You can love it all you want, because it's a Star Trek game, but that, by no means, makes it even remotely good.

People disagree with your opinion and you and you turn to throwing labels on them or use some odd form of Star Trek fan insult which isn't necessary.

I don't like the game. Reasons:

Cryptic released an unfinished, unpolished, bug ridden, short on content, game in an unrealistic amount of time trying to capatialize on a signing bonus agreement between them and Atari and they failed miserably.

I ran through this game so quickly that it was ridiculous. The game was fun for 3 weeks, but after that I was bored and left wondering what to do next. There are very few games that I've ever had this sort of problem.

Weekly episodes, it's a poor attempt at trying to keep current players interested long enough for them to try to fix all the mistakes they made. It's pretty clear we're seeing a higher level of discontent from gamers with products that are incomplete or shoddy.

Frankly, like a lot of other people I'm tired of paying for a product that damn near needs full redevelopment.

CO, Age of Conan, STO, FFXIV, Vanguard, SWG, the list goes on. How many games need to be completely revamped after release to keep costumers? It's ridiculous.

This game is for Star Trek fans only. Those interested in a quality game need to look elsewhere.

CO, AoC, Vanguard, and SWG were all out before STO. If you bitched about it being unfinished, bug ridden, short on content why did you continue to keep buying the games?

If you are that upset about the games you would think you would have learned your lesson after SWG and Vanguard. If you're tired of paying for re-development then it is simple, don't buy at release, wait a year and there's your "this is what it should have been at release" game.... new to you.

Don't buy at release then, get in the beta, get a trial key.  So many ways to save money.  No one forced you to buy the game in its unfinished state.

We call them weekly episodes because you're wrong and they really do come every saturday.

The "do-over" content is significant because if you missed an accolade (think achievement) you can now go back and complete it.

Hate all you want, this update is a step in the right direction.

No its mentality like this that totally destroys games .

Its the hype up of unfinished product cause you want it now , that makes STO a total faiulre .

Infact they should start something new SUBSCRIBED BETA (your gaming experience can change and will change )

Sorry i dont bother with beta , but once  a product hits release , i want atleast it to be a functioning one .

Sure minor  bugs, lags i can stand , but global bugs that are game breaking , design philosphy that are total crap without even thinking what people would like .

Thinking modern day gamers are not hardcore enough to grind trough your content in 3 weeks or less .

Shows outdated thinking , making timesinks that are ridiculous is another , and forcing people to invest everything and respec into ship side combat . is another thing thats not star trek .

Sorry Star Trek had space battle but majority of the episodes where played tada ... on planets or interior of the ships.

So you say Star Trek online is representing the fans ?

And the saying dont buy the games , definetly people didn´t buy the game . i know hardcore real life star trek fan.

Who bought CO just to participate in this game beta , and found it total crap .

Those post in beta gotten spammed away ? honestly i no longer have  love for cryptic , doesn´t mean i cannot see this issue postive side .

But since there is no other Star Trek online MMO , i can understand fans having to put up with the garbage atleast this announcement gives them something , finally they can do there STAR TREK stuff in a unfinished game .

No Star Trek fan would touch this game

I really don't know who this game is for.  Maybe those just completely fed up with orcs and elves?

Ahhh, the flames of conflicting sentiment...

The revamp of sector space, while late, is most certainly welcome, and once you turn off the cartography view, really pretty and immersive. It's still a 2d plane, but at least it feels like space.

As for the UGC, I think a lot of people sell themselves and others way short. Sure there is some bad fanfic, ship designs and fan-based stuff out there, but a lot of it IS good, and worth looking at. And it certainly beats the cookie-cutter missions (not the story line or episodic missiosn, those are decent) that predominates the game now.

Anyway, my point is that the game IS getting better. Some people will bash, some will preen, it's just part of the whole forum experience. Honestly, they could give out a free gold-plated Mercedes to every subscriber and somebody would bitch about it, just like they could never improve anything and there are those who would be perfectly content with it the way it was at launch. Personally, I stand with those in the middle of the road... I like the idea, their implimentation wasn't great, but getting better, and I'm happy to see the game game improve.

And a few words of wisdom: Whether you like the game or not, Atari and Cryptic haven't come close to scrwewing it up as badly as SOE did to SWG. :)

I resubed for one month before due to the breen series,  rofl.  Same old game.

I might resub again after they fix sector space just to give it a try.  However I have serous doubts that it will be any more of the same as it is currently just more daily repeatables.

As the saying goes: For those who already believe, there is no proof necessary. For those who don't believe, there is no proof possible.

It doesn't matter if Cryptic suddenly imploded the game, completely redid it, and it turned out to be the most awesome MMO on the face of the planet... the fact it wasn't good in the first five minutes to most people means it will never be good. As far as content, I'm running episodes 7 levels below me because I leveled so far past them on all the content I've played... the non-content issue baffles me. Theres plenty of it, and sure some of it is repeated, but tell me an MMO that doesn't have that. In STO, it just's highlighted more because of the "random" missions. Other then that... Cryptic has been communicating about everything they've been doing to their players. They've been taking all kinds of feedback and making the game better. Much faster than I've seen other titles do it, thats for sure. Its certainly not perfect, but its not as bad as forums make it out to be...

Ambrosee this is true now , wasn´t true in the past sadly .

Thats where the mistake went , its harm done . its definetly true now , they are taking more and more serious consideration to there community . cause its about time they worked on it .

If they had this kind of commitment and this kind of commitment should be maintained in the beta especially on the day of release. instead of stuffing everything you didn´t like into one black hole .

Other thing tell me why i should invest 500 euro into STO game , just to play my ST experience with a borg officers and set crew , and have totally no interaction with it . other then just beam down planet kill kill back to ship .

This alone should had been handled in the beta , there are tons of features alone that could have immersed a beter Star Trek experience , all you gotten as reply dont like it GTFO kind of reply .

Serious there is a difference , and sorry STO forums when i almost wanted to subscribe wasn´t a attractive community with people whinning all day about there feed back ignored .

Sure some feedback are just whines , but other feedback was genuine .

Sorry and really i read trough the whole STO offical  forum and the forum convinced me not to subscribe to STO instead of spending a big chunk of money on it .
