Thinking of comming back

-z3r0--z3r0- Member Posts: 5

Hey all I am thinking of comming back to EQ2. I quit the end of January.

I have read on some other boards that EQ2 is dying and not to many people are playing it anymore and its now hard to find guilds because of this.

I played on the Permafrost server before and I always had a hard time grouping do to my low level and I am afraid after some of what I read that it will be even worse now.

Just wandering how you guys are seeing the servers and what not.

Thanks,
Tommy

I quit back in february and came back when they put the offline market in.  I like a lot of the changes made recently.

I play on Mistmoore.  I havn't had a problem getting a group together yet. But then again I solo as much as possible.  They've made the game more solo friendly since you left too.

I was a Scout before and they got nerfed pretty bad right before I quit. Did this change any at all or are they still pretty bad off?

I think I quit in Feb, was playing an Assasin on the test server with a regular nightly group.  Too many changes were happening at the time with crafters and Scout classes in general.  Was something to do with the Agi nerf at first then they toned down Assasins damage considerably which broke the camels back for me.

But I did reactivate 3 days ago and so far it seems somewhat dull and lackluster.  I may try starting a new class that is effective solo as well as needed in a group.  But first I need to find some folks on test that want to do a nightly group routine again as there is absolutely no one left from my previous group or guild.

Isn't this the same person who borked the SWG I used to love?

I'm not sure if EQ2 is dying, that seems a little exaggerated, to be perfectly honest I havent seen much change in players.  If anything the population is spread out now, no 1 zone is particulary overcrowded due to players advancing at different speeds.  For example your mid level population is starting to hit Enchanted Lands and Zek, which used to have only 10-15 players when I was in my 30's, now has closer to 90.  Lavastorm and Everfrost, have closer to 40 players in each.  If I had to hazard a guess at population size on my server, I would probably go for about the 3k during peak hours as a rough number.  24 servers? 72k.  Obviously, I'm guessing at these numbers, but running around, there are a lot of people still playin :)

If you have a hard time grouping due to low level, you could consider the solo content they added.  Sony now has a way for you to go through pretty much every level, following a set of quests designed to advance you through the zones.  You will see 5x as much solo mobs in outdoor zones and even new solo instanced dungeons.

If you play, you should enjoy it :)

Well, I am on Splitpaw and this servers pop has decreaded dramatically. There used to be quite a lot of players where they had 2 zones for NEK and EL too. Now they just have 1 almost every nite. Though you have to count in that lots of yanks transfered to oggok from Splipaw cause the server downtime, but so far I have no trouble findig groups when I am in EL. AS soemeone said most ppl have moved up to higher zones and out of the lvl 20-30 zones.
