Trion has said that the Riftstalker is the tanking soul from the rogue tree.  Whether it will be a full fledged tank that can do end games or just a medicore tank that can do 5 mans we don't know yet but it CAN tank atleast some of the content.  This has been confirmed by Trion.

There is such a thing as evasion tanking. Not saying this class can or can't. Just saying.

That is exactly what this sounds like to me as well.

Eh, not exactly. Rogues have LESS viable tanking souls, sure, but there are at least 1-2 of them that can tank. Clerics can tank better, sure. Warriors have more dedicated tanking souls than all the rest, sure. But all Callings can tank, or at least off-tank. Mages have their elemental pets (Earth, Air, Water), and necromancer minions to do this with.

If you're following Rift Rolebuilder you're far behind. That's like 1/4-1/5 of the souls, and its the starting souls AKA the simpler to understand ones.

I mean, this is a game where Mages can heal, Warriors can be reliable healers, and Clerics can fulfill all roles. Yes Rogues can at least off-tank, they just have considerably less options to do so with (whereas Warriors have far far more, and Clerics have a good bit more).

Are we on the same game here?  What mage is healing?  What warrior is healing?  What cleric is doing all roles?

The Chloromancer Mage heals with the power of Life.

The Paladin Warrior heals with the power of the Vigil (or a patron spirit if you're of the Defiant faction).

A few Clerics are all over the place. Justical, Sentinel... etc.

He wasn't quoting you...at all...it's fairly obvious who he is referring to.

Also, everything I've heard (I follow this game closely, it will absolutely be what I'm playing in a couple of months from now) says that some specific rogue-centric builds will be able to off-tank, but none of them will be able to handle true end-game raid content. It isn't even about mitigation, but aggro generation.

    We'll see though I guess.

"The Riftstalker is a defensive specialist who bends the planes to enhance his constitution and shift in and out of the physical dimension."

Well... it sounds like a tank for me.

Interesting idea, sounds a bit like a Death Knight from Vanguard, but that was a heavy armour class.

The mote must be something you give another player so they (or you?) can summon you to their side.

Sounds like shadowstepping. Allways thought that was a cool ability.

I am very interested in the classes this game is introducing!  I have noticed that they have released the warrior, rogue and priest type this week which means that hopefully today they will release details of the dominator!!! Please Trion?

So a pretty-rogue? Eh, not impressed, really, giving classes common to other games different names doesn't make them unique.

    Everyone on this site:
1: MMORPGs are DOOMED, and I have the answers to save them!
2: THIS game's gonna kill WoW!
3: I wish things would go back to the Golden Age of MMORPGs, which only existed in my mind...

And I'm not impressed with your comment.

The Riftstalker is a blinker-teleporter rogue. I believe it also has certain magical attacks.

I agree. Perhaps looking at a game without relating it to another would help understand the class system better. If you look for similarities you will find them. This game has trees...sigh, so does WoW, a stealthy class, well it must be a clone of a WoW rogue… I will now be disappointed because it isn’t a unique game. Wrong. Look at the game from a different perspective and you will find that it IS unique in its own way. Stop comparing it to previous games and take it as a fresh piece of creativity.

I'm just amazed that people managed to not just go 'yawn, WoW has it!' to the mages, and the warriors etc, but also to a uniquely named class called the 'Riftstalker'. Yeesh.

I really enjoyed this class article for Rift, the most interesting one seen in a while.

This would probably be my class if I get to playing RIFT, I like to have a bag full of tricks...

I must be missing something because I just went over to the rift website and I can't seem to find this "class" in the class section.

Is RiftStalker maybe an alias for another (rogue) type class?

It's a rogue soul. They haven't updated their info on the website recently.

Ah k, must be the last one in the  "Coming soon" section.

Weird imo that such info would be present on 3rd party websites and not on their own after a few days allready.

    Not really...

But ANYWAY! The website is now updated! With the 3-4 new souls, and the Sanctum faction base/city (hate calling it a city since it really is more like a base) writeup and video.
