Rift VIP key giveaway - not fair towards non USA users

The yesterday Rift key giveaway was posted at 2 AM GMT

Middle of the night in Europe. 

 

Before calling it unfair, and rigged to benefit USA users. I suggest mmorpg.com to post new batch of keys in time slot that is good for both europeans and usa users.

    I totally agree.  Treat us EU players fairly. Oh and something else...This FIFO key distribution method is silly. There are people that make an account on mmorpg.com just to grab the beta key. This is unfair for us old members.

    Agreed but you can't give away them based on numbers of post.

    But to have a rule for 24 hours membership to be able to enter would make a lot of sense, it would turn away those guys that just make an account to get the key and never plan to visit the site again.

    Read the post, they have 500 keys to give away. Day 1 involved 100 keys. Don't you think they would not have also EU friendly times planned for the remaining 400 keys...... you would have had point if they gave away all 500 keys, now you are just a whining kid.

    This site is all U.S  90 % of there give aways ect come up with Failed to enter  your not in the U.S . so why should this be any diffrent ?

    I'm from Europe and I got a key...might have to do with me only being able to play MMOs and surf the internet during the night.

    i got a key from other side they give away 50000 of the keye but they are alle not vip keys the chance to get in is lower than 0,01% so only with an vip key u can get in the beta tests to help trion to find bugs etc.

     

    is there a thread here opent to post in to get a key?

    I've been saying this for years, only I think it should be even harsher.  If you haven't registered, logged into, or visited the website within 30 days prior to the start of a contest you shouldn't be eligable. The MMORPG.com contests pretty much screw out long time community members.

    The seem designed to try and bring in more visitors rather than reward long time members.  That's great, except it doens't work.  Someone comes here, registers for the givewaway, wins, then isn't seen again until there's another contest.

    And yes I'm a little bitter.  I've participated in every contest we've had here for the last 6 years and only ever won 1 crappy prize.

    It seems to me like you all think it is your right to a fair chance at a beta key. 

    These keys are being given away FREE by mmorpg.com and allow you FREE access to ALL of RIFTS betas. You are paying neither "company" anything therefore why is it that you feel that you DESERVE more than other people to benefit off either of these companies charity?

    Sure if you paid mmorpg.com a sum of money each month, then it could be said that the site owes you something, perhaps if you'd given thousands of $$ in donations to RIFTS then you could perhaps deserve a key.

    Instead mmorpg.com has provided you with a free website containing up to date game information and a free forum, charged no one anything, you guys have happily used the website and forum to a large extent and now when they host a giveaway you all complain as if mmorpg.com owes you something and that they deserve to make it fairer for you.

    Let me put it this way, mmorpg.com and RIFTS don't owe anyone here anything, so to speak, what they are doing is in a sense charity therefore don't be arrogant enough to think that you deserve more of a chance than anyone else, it is all simply a gift that you might have a chance of obtaining and if you don't obtain it then it's not like you'll have lost anything!

    see those amateur f2p adds all over the website, or that massive dragon in the background, yeah our hits make them money for looking at it, rewarding loyal people in the community would only be fair we are giving them income, in an indirect way.

    I have no VIP key and would love one, I'm just not arrogant enough to think that just because I visit this site i'm more deserving than others, after all I haven't really given more to the site than say someone who just comes and reads the news, the only difference is I have made a few posts, so what.

     

    @other dude.

    Anyone, registered or not counts as a hit to those ads, they're contributing just as much as you.

    Also l2ABP/NoScript, I've honestly never seen an advertisement on here/ 99% of all sites i've visited

    I don't think I am owed anything, but I DO think giving away beta keys and then only have a CHANCE for beta is misleading.

    Don't hand away keys if you don't have place for someone. It's like selling 1000 theatre tickets for a theatre which has 500 places. It's just not right. And on top all too often we Europeans are either shut out entirely from betas or get a chance 2 days before launch or such.

    From what I've seen on the official forums and here...I don't think the community for this game is going to be that good.

    I want mah key NAO! Yes my key! I deserve it!

    Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
