*shrug* I have 13 (well, 14 now) posts. In those few posts, I snagged a Guide title for my Ryzom beginner's guide and contributed some rather lengthy blogs to the site. I'd be a little peeved if that didn't count above 20 random comment posts, personally
Of course, I did get in the first batch from yesterday...not that I've received my key yet or anything. /angst
I certainly disagree, look at my friend, he has been a member since forever, and yet he does not even have 20 posts yet., does that mean I should have no right for a beta key? Who do you think you are to judge this sort of situation?
Sorry buddy! but I will ahhve to disagree with ya!
At least let them make some effort before stealing keys from regular posters
Anyone that has a few posts and a join date of yesterday shouldn[object Window]t be allowed to get keys.
Another way to sort it is by looking at their posts, and if they[object Window]ve only posted in [object Window][object Window]free key[object Window][object Window] threads, then they should be disallowed a key. Then again, that would just entice them to spam the forum.
I do disagree too. Coz I made this account 2 years ago, I visit this page weekly and don't think that because I don't post (for the report, I'm Spanish, so I'm not really into posting in english, coz I'm not really good at it T_T) I should have less chances to get a Key, or to sign up to any promotion this great website has.
Very much doubt that will happen, the promotion is about driving traffic to this site.
Having followed massively for a few years, I didn't know this site existed, so it has actually worked and the news & info here is pretty good.
Understand your point being raised though and maybe they could keep a portion back for older members - but then where's the cutoff?
Someone has an account for over a year and doesnt post at all (low post count) or someone with a week's membership and post's alot?
you can make it multi-conditioned, and there are other ways to get hits besides getting a bunch of freeloaders to make accounts they'll never use again
I think a lottery like the contests on the main page would work best. The problem is with this first come first serve is that its become common for VIP key hunters to obtain multiple keys from various sources with the sole intent to sell these keys. I think everyone just wants to feel like theres a fair chance at one rather than the zerg rush, which often times isnt possible for the working adult.
Meh, dont ask MMORPG.com to impose rules on this giveaway. Take your issues up with Trion Worlds. So far from what I have seen, this has been the most unprofessional, cheesy, lame beta invitiation process of any MMO to date. Instead of paying for advertising their game, they have manipulated their fans to jump through hoops to get garunteed beta access and string them along all the way using them as free advertisments. Dont get me wrong, free advertising from fans is a great method, word of mouth and viral marketing (the good kind via social networks, youtube, etc..., not the bad kind with paid employees posing as regular people) are both very effective. However Trion has strung thousands of people out over the course of entire days for single beta keys. Its pathetic and unprofessional and in no way fair for any of the people who actually have interest in the game.
So the idea that 100 keys will be given out in 1 place during a day instead of a single key, you have to expect that people are going to be jumping at the opportunity. Its 100 times more likely they will get a key here then from another source. MMORPG.com I'm sure knew this was likely as it is with new people joining for all sorts of the promotions and contests they do. The whole point of them organizing contests and promotions is to attract new readers and keep old ones coming back, its a for profit business. Alienating new members from contests because they are new is bad for business.
So again, I reiterate, your beef is with Trion Worlds for promoting their beta through such unproffesional means, not with MMORPG.com for offering promotions and contests to all members, new and old.
There is no precedent for this on our site. We have key giveaways all the time and we have never limited to new or older members and we have no plans of doing so now. Keys are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

A link to the key has been added to the op from yesterday's contest.
Agreed, I have the same problem. This is my first post ever although I visit this site on a daily basis. Does this mean I have less right then you? No, I believe not.
I have also been a member of the Rift community from near start and I still haven't had a VIP key to my name. Although I see many people who do not even have an account on the Rift forum walk away with key's they got from other sites, Facebook or Twitter.
This is just how it works unfortunately. I simply keep hoping on acces to the beta and will be keeping a lookout to enlarge my chances this way.

Agreed!
And have people spam the forum to get 20 posts?

Check out my blog, Adventures in Atys!
haha, fair point
you could limit it by stars, or better yet have the cut off when they declare the keys are up for grabs so its too late to spam
well that is what they should do to thank the people who helped building the community but...
The site wants new and more members:P

I think it's brilliant marketing. Although extremely frustrating.
nvm..
I am going to lockt his up as I've already addressed this thread.
