Can someone explain me why they have changed the name of the game again?
As for as the name change, people on the official forums called it a marketing thing. It's easier to tell your friends that they really should look up Rift, then to look up Rift: Planes of Telara, or RPOT.
The ':Planes of Telara' part of the title was added to differentiate it from the pen & paper rpg 'Rifts' by Palladium, who they were in a legal battle with. As soon as they settled the case, the additional ':Planes of Telara' was dropped, so there seems to have been a connection.
Yea, keep it simple. I like just "Rift." I did notice the correlation between "Rift: Planes of Telara" and the old "Rifts" PnP games. I didn't realize Palladium already tried to sue Trion. Such a damn depressing world with companies throwing lawsuits around for such petty crap.

First, it was ''Heroes of Telara''. Then they changed it to ''Rift:Planes of Telara''. Now it's just ''Rift''.
The name is still in beta and may be changed even further down the road for balance reasons.
Marketing people need to justify their jobs.
I am sure that 25% more people will now buy the game!

Focus groups didn't like it I guess.
maybe they didn't want us abbreviating the game and calling it PoT
lol

I believe it has something to do with the trademark lawsuit for using the name "Rift". http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/05/11/trion-worlds-sued-over-rift-planes-of-telera/
Rift sounds better in my opinion. I'm glad they changed it, for whatever reason they did.

Anyway, here's to RIFT!!!
I would still love to see an mmo based on Rifts. Rift is looking very nice though.
