43 out of 100 people are brand new to the site, and people who have been watching the game and supporting this forum lose out.
I find this to be odd that the same person won 2 days in a row and he was teh first person, I know some of you won and did not usea bot , scipting tool, but I find this to be unfair to the people who come here every day or every week, and we lose out,
Flame me all you want, but its the truth, I have no problem not getting into this, but after what I saw.... If MMORPG does not block IP's or block people from getting 2 keys and selling then its gonna continue to ruin MMo for the real testers.
Now I see why games are crap, crap testers, you will geta crap game...
I have tested most games on the market, and I got to say this beta key hand out has to be the worst I have seen on any forum yet. unless they do something about these cheaters and new accounts..

I feel you, I was comment number 12 or 13, refreshed like a mad man! but still, it is a contest, and there will always be QQ and corruption. You have to live with it and adapt to it

heh. if the give-aways on mmorpg.com or rift.com were about community, they would treat it as such, but it's not about community; it's about traffic.

They should have taken care of there fan base first before going outside.

Thats cool if we did not get in, but it should be a fair contest, and it should be ONE key per person...
Also aftering seeing people sell this.. If you want GOOD games stop the cheatiing Before beta happens.. This is what i,m tired of bad games, due to bad testers, and this is one reason, people like this... As I said some of the new accounts i,m sure did not cheat but how do we know they did not win already????
This is my point... You people complain in PVP when you class has a disadvantage, well same thing here, I can runa bot right now and win the next 2 and run many accounts, ..i,m sure some have, its not hard to do... Thats why i,m posting this very fishy to see this..
I will not do this as I do not cheat, but some of these people did, I do not care what people say, but cmon make it fair MMORPG....

You have to remember too that just because someone is "new" doesn't mean they are brand new. You don't have to make an account to read all the reviews and look at the forums and what not, only to participate in stuff. I've been coming here for years but just never had a need to post on the forums because I prefer to post in the actual game forums than here.
I went crazy spamming my F5 key and if I counted correctly I was number 71 out of 100 on that list for Day 3. I do however agree with you on the topic of people using bots or scripts to get a key. Like the guy who was the first post on Day 2 and Day 3, even if he isn't using a script or a bot they tell you to only post once. I just hope its not the people that are getting these keys and selling them because that is not what this is meant to be used for.
I'm starting to think fans are the last people who should ever get a beta key, give them all to the critics I say.

I thought this was a review for FFXIV at first. Yea, we're all pretty upset, those who can't spam F5 for hours or are super lucky. Seems really lame how some people are trying to grab 2nd or 3rd keys.

I still prefer how tera is going about it. Select about 300 people to test the content, carrying those same testers through every testing phase. Save the stress test for CBT, and OBT for try before buy.

That is exactly what the community manager over at the rift official forums said. She said they selected their Alpha testers from the community on their forums and those are the people testing the game in terms of bugs and attempting to "break" the game. She said the beta phases are more for stress tests on their databases to see how they handle the increased number of people.

Yea, their doing it right. Trion is probably the most serious I've seen a studio be about testing, and that organizaiton, from what I've been able to read up on, has big success on their mind. These keys are not about testing, but marketing,
That's not too unlike the way Rift is doing it, unless I'm mistaken. Most of the legitimate testing is being done in alpha. While there is the opportunity for beta "testers" to provide "additional" feedback, the Rift beta FAQ says that they will continue to look to alpha testers for feedback on content. Its not EXACTLY the same situation, but its similar, with a smaller group providing most of the feedback. Looking through the beta FAQ, and looking at the beta site, it really seems like closed beta is more of a marketing ploy for Rift than anything else.
Should have gave those keys to the rift forum community first...in order to keep them happy. But I guess they feel they already have those people hooked, so they might as well give the keys to other people that did not have rift on there radar.

I was quite surprised to read that on their forums yesterday, that and admitting that open beta is nothing more than marketing. It's refreshing to see developers state what we all know already but others completely deny.
I have been following this game for a good while, @ have all the community beta keys on my account, alas I don't have time to hit f5 so ye it is a bit unfair! There is a competition on pc gamer UK for a rift VIP beta key, create a plane of existence and the top 50 chosen will get a key, hope that helps!

sucks too because the beta-key trade is sooooooooo moneymaking as you all obviously know... and yet nobody wants to do anything about it... BECAUSE as the op has said... its about the traffic not ANYTHING ELSE...
more hits = more adds= more $ google pays = richer person or company whoever owns this site....
just like how massively is owned by joystiq. you can bet your ass all they care about is $ and not the actual contest as they have the same type of ruleset and does every other fansite for any game out there... its all about the hits/add revenue generated...not so much the content but the scream factor in which i mean "OMG BETA CONTEST MUST LOG IN THERE" n stuff like that....

I been around for a bit and most Betas I just pass over for various reasons...but I was lucky when I logged in to check an AO forum I was watching and saw Rift key giveaway that I signed right up and got my key the next day. It is a shame that people need scripts and bots for a fricken sign up....but what can we really do? Yell, scream, moan and wave our fist in an act of futility.....but venting is good too I suppose. Helps ease the wait for the actual Beta...lol
