Everything I read from the big fanboys of this game say that you have to play PVP, its the only way to go. Really, im not a fan of PVP, never really cared for it, like playing with freinds and teaming.
Problem is, I see no argument for anything else to do, quests are boring, soloing is getting dull (but I can level just as well, if not better on my own), and I just don't see a point. Im working towards level 60 like everyone else, but why? Whats the plot/point? So far im just runing around and killing things.
So, in the end, if I don't like PVP, am I wasting my time in WoW?

PvP is a large part of WoW, no matter if your on a PvE or PvP server you will be able to experiance it. With large parts of the game's content being fully based on PvP like the honor system and battlegrounds i'd say if you dont like to pvp at all (even on PvE servers where you can never get ganked and such) then WoW is not the game for you. Other things to look forward too non pvp wise is just raiding in places like molten core and such which are probabally very fun if you have a guild that can do it, but by the sounds of what your saying WoW dont seem like a game you will enjoy.
PvP is a big part of wow, there is only one problem. PvP on wow sucks. Everything is made to please everyone. The pvp is made for "sissys",
1.Safe MAPS ON A PVP SERVER?!!?!?!
2.BATTLEGROUNDS IN A INSTANCE? - Making battlegrounds for every town in game would make wow the best game ever made for 10years straight, but thats never gonna happen. What sort of a FactionVSFaction game doesnt have a town conquiring option?
3. Town Raids are impossible because guards spawn to match the number of people raiding the town and spawn at an insane rate.
4. Honour System is a good idea, however:
1.Dishonorable and honorable KILLS?!?!?! Its freaking FACTION VS FACTION!!!.
2. Once ure 60 thats the only thing left to do in game and after a week of pvping you will be bored.
well, Urban, that is mostly what happens in any PvE oriented game out there. There is just so much to see or do. if you want to keep to it, you have to find some incentive. The best one is socialize. Get a good guild and you will see getting to 60 and remaining there is not anymore a night mare but just a pleasant trip with friends.
As for PvP, it is not for everyone, but WoW structure is such that everyone can try it, test it out and see if they like it or not.
Best of both world really.
In my opinion, so far i have not done any serious pvp and i am enjoying quite well, so i would rather say that sure, you can enjoy WoW without PvP. It is surely on par if not better to the others PvE centric games out there.
Another note. there is no "point".It is a MMorpg. there is never a point. there is never an "the End, you are the hero". everybody is an hero. take it as a world more than a simple storyline and you can have more fun with it.
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
Well there's my point. In City of Heores, the point was fighting crime, and it was fun, even in Anarchy Online, there was a conflict between the sides, but it was much more evident then in WoW.
I just don't see what im shooting for, I feel no real draw into the story.
PVP makes WOW! It's all it has :P Problem is that the honour system has ruined the PVP servers! If you not lvl 60 already it will be near imposible to get there now
pve servers were empty (not sure now)
EQ2 has a better adventure system so i'd rather play that now
dishonorable kills you can only get from civilian npcs, but i do agree with your point
dont just pvp at the very end game, enjoy it through out the game
I seem to be part of the minority that enjoys WoW without PvPing a lot. I enjoy the grouping andsocialising with my friends and that's enough for me.
Not to say that I don't fight other players at all, whenever I feel like it I can go to an area where I know to be lots of Horde players (being a lvl 47 human mage, Strangleton Vale is a nice place) and turn my flag on. I'm not very good at it though, since the honorsystem was introduced I gained the grand total of 2 HK's and a multitude of deaths . But I'm still having fun with it and as soon as it's not fun anymore (Like being corpsecamped for more than 5 consecutive corpseruns) I just unflag and continue questing after a short brake.
Even though I hardly PvP at all, I'm still having fun. So I don't feel like "wasting" my time on WoW anymore then I would be wasting it on playing any other game. As I see it PvP is a nice distraction from the "main game" every now and then, but it's far from a requirement to enjoy the game. But this of course is personal, if you're not having fun with the game while not or hardly indulging in PvP. Well then maybe you should try it for a bit. And if you don't see that as an option because you don't like it then it might be time to move on to another game.

Question: How to get the best epic items?
Answer: PvP as much as you can until youre bored out of your mind, and continue doing it mindlessly just to get an item.
