Runes of Magic: New Instance Brings Big Challenges

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

When the next Runes of Magic updates goes live, a new instance will arrive that is sure to bring big challenges to players. Called Kawak’s Tomb, the instance is filled with puzzles, booby traps and five guardians. There is also a small scarab that will come to mean more than meets the eye at first glance.

Be it flipping the correct switch in one room, dodging spikes in another, or defeating opponents in the correct order, the new instance will put the heat on even the most experienced and best equipped players. As soon as the coast appears to be clear, the next guardian emerges, itching for a fight. This is assuming that players are able to find and open the half-concealed passages that lead to the bosses. A stronger opponent waits behind every door - a legendary general, a mutant beetle and three Rune Guardians possessing magical powers stand in the way of the golden sarcophagus of Kawak Angerfang.

I do like the idea of booby traps and puzzles in my dungeons. Makes me miss the old days of pnp gaming!

Do not bother with this game unless you want to pay more then your standard subscription prices to keep up with the rest of the existing (high end) player base.

When you pay as much a subscription rate for upgrading your items (thru +1 item shop gems for example) and you end up marginly better cause the failure rate is so high, thats just a rip off.  And if your gonna troll at least try to make a valid arguement not just an 8 word response.

In case you aren't baiting/trolling, PnP = Pen and Paper. Think Dungeons and Dragons, Shadowrun, World of Darkness etc.

It sounds like a exiting and fun game.

Ulag seriously shut up you dont know what your talking about. Runes of magic is a easy game just like wow. All you have to do is farm sell what you farm and just buy items people make using cash shop. Ive spent 21 bucks total in 4 months and vastly rich. And as strong as anyone who used cash shop stuff it just takes a little patience farming and skill. Next time you wanna post non sense make sure no one who actually played the game is around.

Not a bad game but at high levels it is hard to compete with those with a lot of $$$ to use on shop. I played it off and on. My biggest complaint though is the character animations. They suck pretty bad. Especially hair animations. They tend to look like crap when you wear a cape etc.

You can get max level without using cash shop if you have a good guild, problem is most guilds in the game don't last long from my experience. They tend to die out after a bit. So you are stuck looking for another one.

go start a guild with people in the same situation.  make some of that gold coin and buy diamonds off of other players.   i see it happen all the time.  they usually have more fun than the people who shell out $100 bucks a month.

Oh give me a break, that is a load of nonsense.  Very few of us have the time to play enough to that.  If you only spent $21 your equipment is not good enough to do the top end instances.  You can easily out spend normal subscription money on this game without even trying.  The game is almost good enough for a sub, but the item shop and high failure rate for upgrading things just ruins it.

easy like WoW? rofl lmao! it crappy laggy buggs stuff cast you a fortune if your not in love with slow useless grinds!

if yes this game is sure for you, sorry to bother.

if not guys trust me: lame stuff try to ripp you off without any support or savety.

same cheap asian crap as anyone else you can find in sorta "free" games, but with nice graphic & char cusmomization.

slow leveling, lame lost of XP when die, high end gear cost a fortune or need to forward like 300$ per slot.

    have fun!

try before buy, even if it's a game to avoid bad surprises.
Worst surprises for me: Aion, GW2

     "New Instance Brings Big Challenges"?

From what I remember, the instances needed to be toned down to even consider playing it without spending cash, but now they are ramping it up even higher in the new one? Yikes, guess I won't bother returning back for this one.

ill come back to RoM when they release more races, classes, and new content (new as in not recycled ideas)

the server i play on has very few ppl who can even do RT. i play grimdel, so our resources must be spent on costume gear that wont drop when u get pk'd, AND statting that cs gear, and then a set of " instance " gear used for raids and seige. due to this split, it cost either a lot of time or a ton of money or both if ur retarded to be end game ready. carebear servers dont have this aspect to the game so can focus all income and diamond purchases on 1 set of gear.

kind of unfair in an economic sense, but pve server would put me to friggin sleep. open, droppable pvp is why i play this game, period, cz everything all the ppl who hate the game say is true, but they leave out the fun stuff and in game events that can keep u busy and engaged for a long time...

anyway, about a new instance...pfft, if most cant do RT, then a new dungeon even harder isnt gunna get alot of play on my server. they did however raise the level cap, which means new gear, which generates more cash shop sales to stat new gear, sigh, ur getting the picture.

hopefully mages will get their balls returned to them in this patch. or at least be nessasary to do new instance

Sadly the last thing this game needed was new content and a level cap raise.  The developers need to step back and fix all the broken and buggy content before moving forward.  There has been a max exodus of end game players lately with some new people coming in.  Those new people won't last long though as soon as they realize how so much of the content is actually broken.  Class balancing is a joke and no I'm not just talking about the op scout situation (lolwardens).

The best thing about this game is Siege Wars and the only good thing coming out of this patch is siege is being re-released on a new engine though I don't have much confidence in runewaker at this point .  I will keep my fingers crossed.

As for spending cash yes this game can get very expensive especially if you let it.  You have to set a limit for yourself and stick with it but believe me it is VERY hard to stick to that limit when they release the "gotta have" things from item shop.  The ONLY time it's even worth it to buy diamonds is when they have double diamond sales.

This game is a  P2W, go and grind statnames forever, and them go to the next estance grind better statnames, and them go to the next, and next..

  • PheniePhenie Member UncommonPosts: 14

I just wish they would fix all the current problems before moving onto brand new content, but still it might be interesting to try. Let's hope it's not buggy...
