I'm not playing in the testing ::::16::

BUT, I'm already getting very good vibes from the developers of the game. They seem to be very involved with the community, which after dealing with SoE for 6 years, is a welcomed change. You will get a lot of information off the actual ddo website and msg boards. It's so refreshing to see actual comments from the developers explaining almost every step they are taking in the game... even admitting when they made a mistake or when they are going to do something that might be considered controversial by the hardcore PnP community. They want your input (as long as it's constructive) and that is important to me.

Most of what I have seen from DDO so far has been keeping me /drooling ::::34::

Any involvement with the minority who call itself community and talk a lot is something that make me raise an eyebrow.

The average player dont surf the internet or those many boards.

The average player want fun solo and with his friends in small groups(which WoW despite it awfull flaws still attain better then most MMO).  The average player dont care to group strangers, to raid, to PvP a lot or to even enter tradeskilling.  D&D was about grouping FRIENDS, not strangers.  If no friends was available, you where either soloing or not playing, you where not grouping strangers who where scorning at gaming anyway.  Enforce grouping strangers and I will laugh at the disaster it will wreck on the game.

Everything else is flashy powder. Edges at best, usually flaws since it usually enforce something that dont represent those 2 main points(grouping friends or soloing).

PS: I, personnally, like grouping strangers, but I dont represent the average player on this topic.  The average player I know was wanting to group me, but as soon as the idea to group a stranger was in my mind, they where talking about logging.  Most of my RL friends dont want to group strangers, in a VAST majority.  And they certainly dont care to come on those boards here.  So you are listening to peoples who obviously enjoy meeting strangers, which is not a comon treat of the average player...enforced grouping will always be a serious flaw, but group rewards that lead to group uberness been awarded in group only and that dont affect solo, now you are talking about an interesting grouping system (like an item that is helpfull in group of 3+, but useless for solo or duo, those items should be awarded in groups only...yet...in D&D, there is not many such items...the game rewards soloers a LOT more then groupers prior any online version).

PPS: Enforced grouping is like limiting D&D games at the guild and players associations in the college or University.  I am sorry, but the average D&D player think those associations lack and are full of freaks, and the average D&D player will rather be watching TV then playing with those freak at the association.  Yet, those ''communities'', guess who are active members of them?  The freaks at the association, you better stop listening to ''communities'' and listen to the average players need, even if he dont talk to you, you have comon sense.

PPPS: Me I am simply the person who play most game outside of those freaks associations, but I actually go play at the freaky place as well...it was just a minority of my gaming experience.  And the freaks where either all over me, or all avoiding me.  They dont like clashing ideas of the outside world bumping into their room...or they are quite happy to see ''normal'' folks bump in, not that I feel I am ''normal'', but compare to the average freak there, I definitely am...or was at least...time ravage folks and make them more marginal sometimes...image

They have not yet sent any Alpha invites out. I believe the invites will be late May early June.
