General: Bible Online: What's in a Name?

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The Bible Online is looking for a new name and is asking its players to help out. Indicating that "The Bible Online" is too generic and too difficult to optimize for search engines such as Google, developers from FIAA are asking the community to assist them in coming up with a new name.

To find a new name, the publisher is having an event, where the users can participate to find a new name and win surprise prizes. Peter Rehrmann, the game manager of The Bible Online says: “It is always our goal to listen carefully to the suggestions of our users and to create the game together with the users. We will have an event to give our users the chance to find the new name of The Bible Online.”

Users can participate in the new name event by posting their suggestions in the official forum until 7th of December, 2010. 3 best suggestions will be awarded with a surprise Christmas present.

would this be a prayer meeting or player meeting?  Same thing?

It is hard to take a game like that seriously.

Given who the Dev is, it would give an entirely new meaning to the phrase, "Perma Ban"... image

That was me.  All the other suggestions were a bit lame sounding.

    How about Delusion Online?

    7 days

    Genesis

    GoodBook online

    Stories of Faith online

... I could go on all day.  It's not that difficult.  I'm sure this is just a marketing scheme for them.

It worked since I would have ignored this game otherwise.

I haven't looked at this game at all but if it doesn't have any skull cracking it's not my type.  xD

This topic is sure to turn controversial. But they should've known that before posting so here it goes!

I liked the "Attack of the Flying Spaghetti Monster" suggestion from gauge2k3. As a fellow Pastafarian, I approve!     http://www.venganza.org/   The official site of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. :]

Huh.  You know it's amazing how often non-Christians complain that we shove our religion down their throat, yet when anyone mentions anything about Christianity in general, they have no problem rushing in to let us know that God doesn't exist and our religion is a lie...

the Bible online it's just a horrible name.

how about War of Religions Online, or Godless Religions Online, or Rise of Religions online, or something like that.

Why? Do they not have the same right as anyone to design a game for those who have a common interest? Or do you propose being slanderous towards them just because the word religion is involved? Interesting...

Nice way to jump to conclusions on that. Speaks volumes about you. How you found a potential proposition for slander in that one single sentence is the exact reason why a game like this can't be taken seriously.

The bible is a heavy subject to base a game off of, for obvious reasons. People won't take the game seriously because of what will be assumed to be the intended audience, and while not everyone who has a deep faith in the bible is a zealot, most people have had enough bad experiences with those who are, that they are justifiably wary. You know, the people who smack people in the face with their bible, disregard anyone who thinks differently than them, jumps to inappropriate conclusions...like what you just did there.

As for renaming it, it's not that hard. The bible has a lot of profound terms that could make the game seem not only more interesting, but more welcoming. The Old Testament is particularly good for that. But I agree with chouji, this is more than likely just a marketing ploy to get people 'involved' and thus get the game some reknown.

Fear... what the f*ck is that ?

People create wars related religious stuff IRL and now people would to know how to do it in a virtual world ?

This is really annoying, i'm really pessimist about the futur...

And no one think about that ? no ?

It better be X-rated, because no E or T game can ever have murder, mass murder, rape, torture, or slavery.
