Aion a game for a lonewolf?

ikarrianikarrian Member Posts: 122

Greetings, I'm an old MMO vet being currently bored of what the market have to offer atm.

Had few mates that played Aion over a year ago, and they quit because of the grindfest. But now i keep reading good stuff.

And since 2.0 patch i keep going back to the site and read about the classes and races, wich i would like to play.

I'm not really that much into PVP anymore, left that behind, being (red) PK in UO for nearly 8 years.

So i wont get bored of the game being constantly ganked when trying the game as solo adventurer?

Was thinking either Chanter or Spiritmaster. And try some crafting, unless its useless because of RMT's.

Pick a chanter. It is a great class. There is almost no ganking now, pvp was nerfed. Also, the drop rate is 10 times greater now, and there is not much grind. Crafted items are still one of the best but crafting can be very time/resource consuming.

I think a player could do well enough solo.

I played mostly soloing up to lvl 46. The nice thing about Aion is that there are areas where you will need a group and yet one can find places and quests to solo.

The game shines a bit more in a group but one can level well enough solo. I got to lvl 46 before I had to make a decision on what games I actually had time to play so I decide to drop Aion. Also, I didn't really think it was a grind fest having played an actual grind game.

Althou i read spiritmaster gets the ability "Spirit Erosion" wich increase drop rate of rare items.

But its nice to hear that its possible to solo well.  When it comes to craft-grinding i dont mind it as much, not sure why.

I can craft all i need by myself? if i want to jump on high-end instances when i reach 50, and all i got is my own crafted gear. From lets say maxed out crafting. But i can solo gather what i need to craft me the best gear?

Yes you will be able to solo craft all your gear. They increase the drop rate of fluxes so that should make crafting a lot cheaper. Since crafted gear is better than drops for the most part you should be set. Also there are solo instances at 18-22, 37-44, and 50. So you should have no problem soloing in Aion.

Nice nice, Even as Spiritmaster? i assume they rely on healing pots for themself?

Althou i wont decline joining up with other people, ie. joining a guild. :)

Any Racial suggestions for Spiritmaster? Asmod or the other Ely? magma/fire or wind/spirit, not sure wich is prefered.

Chanter is a class that every Aion player should try at least once, it's a phenomenal class that can hold its own and has really nice melee abilities for solo grinding.

Hows the aggro system? long range or medium? no aggro from behind etc?

There are little to no addons for Aion because most thing you would add on you have.

The aggo system is base off distance, your level, and the mobs degree of diffuclty.  Some elites can aggro you from a looong way away so be careful. On your mini-map there are red dots for mobs, green for NPCs, white for treasure/ungrouped players/non-aggro mobs, blue/light blue for group members/alliance members.

If you target a mob you will be able to see a field of aggro for that mob on your mini-map. Also if the mob is humaniod and their field is touching another's when you aggro you will bring them too. Some beast (goats) do the same as well.  When you are 10 levels above a mob they will no longer agro you.

Oh! that does sound nice. I'm also hearing about a crap loads of botters, have they been taken care of yet?

How about spells/skills/abilitys, are they bought at trainer NPC or automaticly added once level reached?

Botters have been dealt with for the most part. Its rare you see them.

You have to buy spell from trainer but you can buy them at anytime. So you don't have to wait til you reach the desired level.
