I'll just point out there is a simple workaround for the patcher problems mentioned here, purely in defence for the game at this stage. Anyone in the beta should always check the official beta forums.

Patcher is working fine for me, getting pretty good speeds as well. I think this is probably why they are slowly rolling out the invites. Not all devs are even smart enough to think of that, so that's at least one point in their favor!

This is why they have betas. So that the patcher problems happen and get fixed pre-commercial launch. If you are a beta tester you are a guinea pig and are not entitled to any garuntee of service, you are an unpayed employee bug testing a product for a company not a customer.
WTF!? they put a disclaimer at the bottom of their page to say its NOT something? It's not even called RIFTS, its Rift. Then yes, this game could very well blow fat ass.

I've gotten my client all downloaded, make sure you run as Administrator as I had the launcher bug twice before using Admin. No idea why I didn't do it before.
I had trouble at the beginning, it did failed twice and on the third time, it's working like a charm. Been downloading at 950 kb/s from the start of the third time! I must say, I am impress right now.
I don't have a VIP key but I was lucky to be picked!

I never had a chance to get a VIP key but its whatever. (Or even tried) I'm not whining.
I went through my way to find a comic shop with the RIFT comic with a beta key chance invite. They didn't have one but I bought one. They later mailed it to me because they finally recieved it since it was delayed.

Considering pretty much the entire rift-guide team got VIP passes, expect detailed write-ups on the beta. We're gunning to have 1-20s for every single calling done.
Why did people stack normal keys? They didn't give any bonus beyond one. I guess there were thousands of normal keys, though, so probably no harm done.
Is there an NDA? I sure as hell hope not...as I'd like to hear from you guys about the game...

I was failing miserably at getting a VIP code, but i just now received an invite to this weekends beta!
