This is a quick story of my playing time yesterday. After deciding to create a theif and a couple of hours working up thievery to above 70 (took about 2 hours) thieves in MO are all about instant gratification they are an easy class to use but a difficult one to master and often can be useful in town sieges. i was ready to cause some havok.
Running out of town with a guys torch in hand after just pilfering it from his inventory whilst he was in deep conversation with a naked man. I ran through the woods looking for a palce to stay low whilst i went back to blue. However in the distance i noticed a man. I knew he must be a slag hauler because he was facing the crushing device that overlooks the valley and lake between fabernum and kranesh. So i slowly krept up to him making sure my footsteps wouldnt be heard and the sound of the crusher certainly helped. Once i was close i snooped his pockets and found a few materials i would like. So i attempted a steal. However thievery pits your dexterity and intell agaisnt the targets intel with other factors such as weight and quantity taken into account. Basically stealing from anyone with an above average intelligence is never easy and he noticed he was being snooped.
He turned around and looked at me drawing his axe as he did so. He then struck me across the face in an atempt to turn it into a bloody pulp. Now though i was free of any moral constraints because even thoguh i was grey (criminal) he was the agressor so to me he appears light grey meaning i can kill him and not recieve a murder count which i did. I then looted his items waited to go blue and headed into town in an attempt to sell off my newly aquired good to unsuspecting crafters.
Next i ventured out the front exit to find a group of thieves hanging out and doing what thieves do best. when suddenly out of nowhere an armored man wielding a huge double edged axe came riding past lopping off my criminal head before galloping around after my associate thieves. I quickly returned to the scene now blue and managed to get in the way of one of his attacks. His overhead swing came crashing down killing me once more but this time he had now gone red due to ahving 4 previous murdercounts. in the exchange 1 of our group also went red and his name was pala. Now this enraged knight of death was on a furious rampage of bloodlust after his recent fall from blue to red. In an atempt to get back at us he hunted us everywhere we ran. Jumping fences hiding in bushes and circling trees whilst hitting him with swords and axes that mgiht as well ahve been sticks. I made 1 dash for the castle walls and he was hot in pursuit. Once i reached the wall i knew i was safe. i was now blue in a guarded area. My thief had the power of the town mlitia and wasnt afraid to use it. He foolishly followed me in range of the guard zone and 1 cry of help ended his life and the thieves flocked to his corpse like carrion.
The next scene was a scene of pride. A bunch of brigands in an assortment of gold knighly armor all wearing bits of the slain knights previous belongings and parading around in triumph. A miniscule victory compared to those faught and won everyday in Nave but to us it meant the world. We quickly built up our confidence each a lonely hyena now in a pack capable of handling a lion. i recovered a large coins worth of items from his corpse including steel ingots, and expensive armor and equipment.
The next scene we were in hot pursuit of a man riding out of town on horse. However our feet couldnt match the speed of his steed and so we stopped a short distance from the castle. 1 of us noticed another horse left unatended on the horizon so we headed over to it and decided to do our part by clearing the road of this obstruction. We drew arms and engaged the horse in combat. it wa a toguh battle and 1 of us nearly lost his life almost trampeld by this war horse. Once it was slain a lonely traveler appeared from behind a bunch of rocks shouting out why did you slay my horse.
Whilst a little bit of remorse did have a place in my heart for this unfortunate individual. I thoguht of it more as a lesson. He learned that leaving a horse alone is a bad idea in a world as harsh as this one. Qucikly he seemed to gather his senses and asked our group what guild are you we replied that we were part of his alliance and our guild was gonig rouge. Im not sure if he believed us but we didnt realise we just made 1 fatal mistake. On our return from this scene of horse cruelty a man on horseback wielding a bow seemed to appear to take vengenace on our red leader. What happened was a back and forth fight with the number slowly growing on the opposite teams side.
In the end we made one final stand inside the tower of fabernum. restricting their access and allowing us safety from arrows. bandaging inside and runnig out to swing our new found weapons we dispatched a couple of them but in the end we knew it was a loosing battle. Our numbers where matched but we were just hyenas cornered by a group of lions and swift bow justice took my life.
After tihs brutal scene, our group scattered some ended up murderers but the more savvy thieves remained blue. We never regrouped that day but im sure in the future there will be a crossing of paths for us. After going back to town i sold off my stolen steel to a happy looking crafter wanting to try his hand at steel equipment anfd in return i recieved what appeals to me most, Coin.

Haha! Nice story there - liked it!
This is the stuff people wish to hear about, and this is the stuff that actual make people want to buy the game.
Thumbs up!
Yea it was genuinely alot of fun that day for quite a few people, for the group of thieves. For the persistant players who were alway trying to prevent us stealing. For those who tried to hunt us and for the newbies who were following us watching what we were getting up to. I think a few people werent so happy with our exploits but that is the beauty of MO you can enforce your playstyle into other players MO lives. They often might not like it but its what makes MO fun for even the basic of crafters. When i used a crafter 1 of the things that i enjoyed was avoiding and outsmarting the thieves. So i guess there were a few crafters who didnt enjoy it. A few warriors who we tricked into killing them or there horses. But we payed the price for our escapades. As each kill happened and each successful steal we gained more confidence as a group which lead to our ultimate downfall.
Theivery itself is a fun skill to use. but its not a particularly profitable on at the best of times. A crafter and warrior make a hell of alot more money than a thief does. But the thief is addicted to getting that payout. Its kind of like an instant fix of adrenaline trying to steal a handful of coins that would have taken a warrior 5 minutes to get. But It has been known for the odd thief to make the big time with stealing a molva beast reciept, a rubar, gold coins, tungsteel or oghmium but dont let those who hate thieves tell you it that theives are profitable. crafters and mages though are the hardest types of player to steal from, its very rare for a thief to actually get away with a steal from an experienced crafter or mage simply becuase intelligence is the bane of a thief.

I'm so glad you have so great fun. I'm was immersed to similar level in MO beta and it miss me. Hope some day MO can give such feeling more often while more peoples can experience it.
Where themepark games try to hide that they are copying WOW, games like Mortal Online and Darkfall make no attempt to hide their inspiration

Cool story bro!
Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!
Great story!
I've never tried playing a thief in the game yet. At the moment, I don't have an available slot to do so, but I might have to change one of my existing characters and give it a try.
Again, really liked the story. MO does provide some gameplay opportunities that most others don't, and this is a great example.
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
Really nice story!
Great story! Maybe should try a thief out, sounds really interesting!
