The low level experience has changed much, with the pre level 10 ingame dropped armor i can barely survive a fight against an equal level mob on my new paladin on my free account i loose over half my health every fight....
But then i heal up to full health in 2 secconds after the fight.
Some of the quests are fun, others are as in the old days
Good armor may change the experience but mobs do hit much harder at these very low levels which makes the experience less of a chore and more excited.........
I might even return and level a worgen warrior when the Cataclysm arives...

At least someone noticed. Get to lv15 and try your 1st dungeon. I was all ready to charge in on my tank with faceroll mode activated and then suddenly my health was dropping really low, the poor healer was healing me on every GCD she had. The first boss hit hard and had a ton of health that I was not expecting and our 1st boss in wow had the age old tactic of "kill the adds 1st plz". Most happy. I was sitting at 480health on my tank and the boss had 8900 at lv15 it was sweet. Change for the better!
Really? All the videos I have seen, including the ones released by Blizzard to promote Cataclysm show a player pratically 1 shotting every trash mob.. and taking on 2,3 and 4 mobs at once, and barely losing any health whatsoever.. /shrug
Surely you would want the game to be challenging and to make you think about what you have to do to survive?
I really don't understand what your problem is. If you want things handed to you on a plate please stop wasting valuable resources.
leveling 1to10 is not to hard but more challenging then before... I leveled atleast 20 chars in the last 6 years and things just changed. I take more damage now, but i heal up wthout food in less then aseccond to full health.
Its rather clas dependent tough, after my paladin i started a warrior that chaincharged through mobs.

This is a positive post by the OP, not negative. He's saying it's good, not bad. Not that it's too hard, but that it's harder and he likes it that way. Compared to the people saying "OMG still so easy with my heirloom gear and blues I got from my 80 handed down to my newb char, lawlz!", this is probably more accurate. You can never trust a video or another person even unless you try it yourself or there are concrete facts to support it (unless it's something like..."Dude, smearing poop in your face is fun! You've never tried it so there's no way you can know!"...)
I can say that deadmine is quite interesting instance. There are... interesting mechanics in the boss... Let's see... We have the first boss will teleport itself and people around the room and then goes berserk and literally burns into a pile of ash.
The second boss is sitting on top of a giant Oaf, master Blaster style. When you kill the "mount" he will jump on the head of some of the group and start throwing bombs all over the place.
The third boss is a giant scare crow and need to be taken down using the broken scare crows around the room. In beta this was really challenging.
The fourth boss will make fog at certain intervals and summon shades to kill you before popping out middle of nowhere and attacking again.
And... then final boss is just hilarious.
All in all, there are WAY more mechanics to the fights than before (that was ... Tank and Spank x 5). You also get some interesting mechanics from the trash mobs, like one ability that will deal damage to people standing around you, but not to you.... oh and PLENTY of fire/poison/stuff to STAND in and DIE.
All in all I think it did a great job of teaching people how future instances will also work and not to stand on the bloody lava/whatever. And oh.. to be prepared for everything.

I had the opportunity to play for a couple of hours earlier this week and if THIS is 'harder' then how easy was the game before the patch.
It took 20 seconds to find a group for a low level dungeon (Deadmines) i had LFGed, during my former WoW times, for hours on end.
Well, now you get a perfect setup with defined roles and guess what, nobody is dieing - at all.
I used to play in 2006 before The Burning Crusade was released, and from what I remember
- the instance took 5 times as long
- we used to wipe multiple times
- you had to get along with a rogue, rogue, pala, mage, mage setup
So if what I see here is 'harder' than how WoW was before, I can barely imagine how easy it would have been before the recent patch.

I got myself subbed again and jumped ontoo an old paladin character..
He is about level 40, and plays totally different now, he has great gear and is overpowered as allways, but plays totally different.
THe quests on shimmering flats are just awesome, its good that i can dual spec for just 10 gold and after trying tanking build which has also awesome DPS, i am going to try and heal a dungeon right now..
The basic game has improved much with the last spec, its fun for new players and its fun for alts Again

I wondered if you can mix and match specs somehow, but the game practically tols me that I'd have to chose one path and couldn't mix until I'd spent 31 skillpoints; Well probably there's a way though later on?
What I ran across btw, although I specced holy on my level 1-15 priest I still dealt damage and soloed trashmobs conveniently. It kinda merges with my overall impression. Back when I last played the game I could barely scratch trashmobs with pure holy.

good luck with that, was going to download free trial but theres an indefinite que to log into anything battlenet related with 600k spam bots in que
You cannot mix and match specs anymore. You have to use 31 points in one tree and then you can spend 10 points in another, making it a single tree build as it was before. Then again, I have almost always seen specs built like this even before Cataclysm. (they used to be 51/10/10 or something).
You have dual spec at level 40, so you can have two of them, but not at the same time ^^
