Any games like UO?

Lazi0220Lazi0220 Member UncommonPosts: 5

Played for like 6 years on Formosa server, also few months on different private shards, many of them are similar but not same as the original version.

The most significant different is the population, since UO is few of the oldest game on earth, population went lower and lower isnt a surprise.

Many of new games promote themself as "Another UO-Like", but in my opinion, none of them are as good as, closest I would say Darkfall, but forget that grinding forever fest.

Any idea of any current / in developing game are gona be the next good UO-Like game?

Craft of Gods reminds me Ultima Online a lot. Not the whole concept of the game but a lotf of features and mechanics I find similar.

Even Uo isn't anything close to Uo anymore, so what do you expect?

Skill based games with similar mechanics

    EvE Online

Very similar game, but with a different training system. However you can do most everything you could do in UO, just in space.

    Mortal Online

UO but... very very beta like software and low population

    Darkfall Online

UO but extremely grindy, low population, and horific UI.

    Asheron's Call

Slightly different take on a skill system, but very action based combat. Lots of levels... kind of grindy.

Of the above listed Games I'd recommend EvE and AC. However, AC is almost as old as UO... so if graphics and huge population are your thing, then EvE is better. If you can look past the old school graphics, AC can be a hell of a lot of fun.

I started myself in UO back at release in 1997. Great game, loved it... but they changed it to something I couldnt stand about 10 years ago so I left for other things. To me, Eve is the closest thing you can get to what UO once was, with modern day systems, pvp, grouping, and conquest.
