Hi all.
I soon will be coming to EVE and am looking forward to it. I'm just waiting on the mailman as I had to order EVE from E-bay. That being said, I have a few questions for all the players of EVE.
What's the best way for a newb to begin?
Who side or race should I start with? Or does it matter?
I'm excited about playing this. I used to be part of Earth and Beyond until E/A killed it and have been dying for another space based game.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated and look forward to seeing all soon. Thanx.

Race, isn't that important except from a RP perspective.
Gallente and Caldari don't get on, Ammar and Min don't get on. If you custom make your character you can end up with the skill Frigate 4 - that's good imo.
High mem or int for a crafetr, high perc and willpower for a fighter is the normal suggestion.
Do the tutorial, and play for a week or 2 in the npc corp everyone automatically joins. Use that time to learn the basic mechanics, then join a player corp. To join a corp go to the various recruitment Boards and decide which one suits you.
E-Bay? Why did you have to order from E-bay...? (there is a load of patches you will have to DL btw).

My advice complete the all tutorial missions for the standings reward, dont think the game is all about mining and if someone targets you it does not mean that you can shoot them.
Ask anything in the help/starter corp chan the community is very helpful.
Any suggestions: experiment, do your own thing. There isn't any major parameters to the game other than what you choose to do. If you run missions for a navy faction, you will decrease standings in the eyes of a pirate faction and vice versa. Relationships you form with people in EVE will determine who your allies/ennemies will be.
Basic game mechanics (such as race of your character) are only minor parts of the game. Yes, things like your attributes might influence skill training but skills are meaningless compared to the politics that take place in EVE. Your most valuable skill in this game will be deplomacy, I do not mean you have to sign NAP's (Non Aggression Pact) with everyone. I mean making settlements to try and keep as many people happy or, if you like to start stuff, to try and keep as many people ticked off at you.
Anyways, race does not matter in the game except as previously mentioned for RolePlaying issues. Some people like to play the game according to what the lore of EVE dictates and that keeps things quite interesting at times. As for general playing, only thing that you might want to watch is ticking fellow players off. Never know when you might be dealing with an unstable person willing to suicide himself to blow up your ship.
