You know how some games offer acheivments for hardcore players.
Like finish a round using only a pistol, or do it in less than 2 min so on and so on.
Sometimes its cool, your like "hey I just got an acheivement" and sometimes you feel like
going out of your way one day when your bored to get a couple that seem crazy or fun.
Then along comes Vindictus, The game that makes you complete acheivements.
Oh what you didnt finish that mission with enough points? well do it again and this time you can get
another acheivemnt but you can only do 1 at a time, so if you want to progress you better keep doing
the same mission over and over and over and over untill you get enough points to pass it.
WHO THE #$@% thought this was a good idea.
So if your looking for a game with very repetetive combat and a forced acheivment system, try vindictus.
And dont forget to load up on cash shop items youll need em.

That successfullly squelched the very small curiosity I had about the game. Thanks for saving me time.

I play it and find it to be a decent game, fast action fighting that most other games don't offer, yes it's repetitive but so are most games, and please don't tell me you are a WoW player, That my friend is the king of all repetitiveness lol, do the same instance over and over and over and over and umm...LOL over and over again just for stupid gear, screw that. I play Vindictus because the combat is different than other games and the fact that it is just buying time till my main game comes out. So for a free game I can't complain about Vindictus....and no you don't need to save up and buy all kinds of cash shop items, yes it makes the game easier but you don't NEED to. I'm almost max level and haven't bought 1 cash shop item.
No I dont play wow.
And you must have more patience than me cause i couldnt take it.
I admit that most games combat can be repetative but forcing me to return to the same instanced map
over and over just to get more points drove me insane especially since the maps felt like they were randomly generated.
I admit that the actual combat was refreshing for the first few minutes untill i was like "wtf why do i have to keep doing this"
then it lost its charm.
Also DCUO has similar combat, excpet the game is ..you know good lol.
I have been considering this game but since I live in Europe have not been able to try it yet. Well thank you for this post I am now not really going to bother.
I found the same to be true except for the cash shop. I haven't had the need to buy anything either. Right now it's one of the games I load up once in awhile for an hour or so at a time. It's fun, worth checking out, but likely won't hold anyone for an extended period of time.
Its gets extremly repetitive fast. Don't take my word for it TRY it yourself. I got in one of the closed betas and was like WTF, after trying so hard to get into beta.
Doesn't *make* you do anything.
There's a title system where each adds to your stat total, yes, but a lot of the hardest ones are only good for bragging rights. Kick-killing 1,000 gnolls doesn't seem like something you *have* to do once you realize it only gives +1 Str. Most Lanns/Fionas at the current level cap have about 400. If you have to force yourself to do it simply because it's there, then it's all on *you* for being completely anal.
I for one chase titles like none other, but you don't see me going for any of the crazy ones like "kill a boss this way 50 times". I leave that to the foot-stomping ADHD kiddies.
As for battle points?
You only need so many to move on, so it makes it usually take 3 rounds to get to the next level, but again, if you wanna be completely anal about getting them all - that's on you.

EXACTLY you HAVE to do the SAME missions 3 times atleast just to pass it? how does this in any way sound like a good idea?
The dev team was sitting around one day going "How do we provide less content and still keep people playing for hours?...we could make them play the same quests over and over"
well aparently that was the winning idea.
Reusing content is a winning idea. Would you rather have far less to play?
One level takes maybe a month to make and it takes you 10minutes to play through. If you wanted it your way there wouldn't be a game to play, they would still be making levels.
That's not really any different than any other MMO. Back in the day in EQ I'd see the exact same zone/dungeon for months trying to get a particular item. Same with WoW, Aion, Lineage2, Mabinogi, Conan, Dungeons & Dragons, FFXI, etc. CoH technically had different missions, but once you do about 20 of em, you'll see their just the same map textures with different objectives.
My point is why are you going to complain about something that is in most MMOs? Hell even consoles before there were save points you would see the same damn levels a hundred times just to die an inch farther than the last time. *grumble*stupid Battletoads*grumble*
I find the bosses to be fun to fight.
So I don't mind fighting them more than once.
That big huge red gnoll in the first campaign was a blast to fight.
They honestly need a map at the end of every boat where you just run down every boss fought prior in a row. I'd do that a million times over.

MMORPG - the mindless grind= RPG haha but in all truth all mmos will have a grind at some point thats just how they are designed. MMORPGs are set up to stall plays so it takes longer to reach end game.
If your going to ban the trolls please for our sake ban the Fan Boys too.
Your trying to get away from work not work more. MMOs are supposed to be fun. You know like how games are supposed to be. Don't you remember when games were fun?
Sorry, but I take issue with players like you and your ideologies.
"yes it's repetitive but so are most games"
I assume that that's your excuse to blatantly shove other players aside when they want something "more".
"please don't tell me you're a WoW player"
You make it sound like being a WoW player is a bad thing. I really don't like that tone.
"so for a free game I can't complain about Vindictus"
This is why so many players abhor F2P. F2P, on its own, sounds like a definition of classy cash cows that only serves to ruin MMOs. I mean-- can't we raise the bar? I get copped everytime I try and compare a F2P MMO to a P2P just because one's standards are lower than a homebrewed NDS game while P2P (or rather, the more popular titles) are the definition of MMORPGs today.
I really wish that players of F2P games understood the market and raised their own playing standards with F2P MMOs. I really wish they did that. It might not be a great solution, but it has the potential to be a solution at least.

Thanks for the anecdote, but your experiences =/= everyone else's. I've heard complaints about the Cash Shop that were tossed on the merry-go-round on the official Nexon forums and it doesn't sound like what you're explaining.
Plus, Nexon's falsely advertising about their game: On their charter, they say that the Cash Shop only sells items that don't affect or imbalance gameplay. The reality is that they do sell such items. I'm told that this is legal false advertising - but I don't live in North America - I don't know.

I played the game in closed beta. It is a fun game to plink around with every now and again but does not hold my attention for long periods of time.
My main problem with this game stems from gender locked classes. I freaking HATE having to play a certain gender just to pick the class I want to play. Every game that has this strikes me as ridiculously lazy and I usually dont put much time into it.
It saddens me that people are going to ignore Vindictus because the OP doesn't enjoy it. As a fan of the MM(insert letters here) genre, I find Vindictus extremely enjoyable. Clearly it is not to the taste of everyone, though.
The game has great graphics, tons of polish, a responsive community team, plenty of community events, and as welcoming a community as any I've encountered. And that doesn't even go into the game play.
When compared to other games that use the same fundamental system to deliver content: lobbies and instances, Vindictus is not the most groundbreaking nor the worst offender. Yes, the missions are super-linear. Yes, you have to play some of them a few times to unlock others. But then again, if you enjoy the combat (the whole point of the game) then it isn't a grind, it is the game itself. Beating the ever-loving guts out of some beasties (who look awesome) is what the game offers: and it gets it right.
There is a reason that Vindictus won top honors among all Korean MMOs this year, in addition to the myriad other awards and accolades the game has received. Just because the game isn't for you doesn't mean it is a bad game.
If you have enjoyed any of the following: Phantasy Star Onine (and version), Monster Hunter (any version), any classic beat'em'up (TMNT, Final Fight, Streets of Rage, etc.), then please do give Vindictus a try. You will be well rewarded. If any of those games gives you the howling fantods then try it anyway, maybe you'll like it.
As for the bit about the cash shop items, you absolutely and emphatically do not need any of them to play Vindictus. Buying vanity clothes gives you an imperceptible increase in item drop rate and a minuscule amount of extra armor (that doesn't make one bit of difference anyway). There are no cash shop weapons, or crafting materials yet. The coin system was a bit strange to me, but you'll still get gobs of playtime without purchasing any additional tokens from the cash shop. Getting an extra inventory slot is a huge convenience, but hardly required or game-breaking. I honestly can't figure out what the OP was talking about with regards to the cash shop.
Its a really nice game with a decent amount of polish. The combat is refreshing. And I find alot of enjoyment crawling the dungeons for an hour or two a day. Been playing there actively for about 2 months now.
The majority of the community is really nice. Fairly respectful and mature. So far, made a great deal of friends, formed a nice little guild with people I've met there and have been enjoying runs together. The boss fights are challenging and fun if you run Hard Mode (Macha). And I don't mind running them more that once, twice...heck three times.
Basically, if you love crawling dungeons, you will probably enjoy Vindictus.
