That there is no such thing as bad publicity.  Alot of people on these boards take every possible opportunity to bash the game, but I am not sure it has the desired effect that they are shooting for.  I think that the amount of coverage that it gets on these boards has intrigued alot of people about this game.

First of let me say that I am currently playing Vanguard for my first time and I must say that I simply love it and will be playing it for the for the next few months anyway. Playing 3 player with my brother and his wife so we have no trouble finding a 4th to group and it is an amazing game(despite a few bugs).

That being said I can honestly say that at this moment I am fairly certain that if any other AAA MMO does not release before I am off of Vanguard then I will absolutely be giving MO a shot.  I played Darkfall and really liked it and the only turn off I had was not the grind like so many others, it was the fact that after the grind you are the exact same as everyone else who did it.

I can honestly say that if it wasn't for all the haters I would not be so intrigued by this game.  I mean there has to be something about a game that makes people who hate it spend so much time on these forums.  (I am sure that 1/2 the posts in this thread will be anti MO comments even though I am just wondering if anyone else feels the same as I do)  These boards are one of the busiest boards on the site and you can't even come to the site without MO being discussed in the 5 most recent posts on the front page.  It's like free advertising for the company they claim to hate and I can't help but find myself more and more curious about MO with each visit to this site.

Does anyone else feel who hasn't tried MO feel the same?

I agree with you completely.  There is no such thing as bad publicity.  This is why I post on the MMORPG.com forums.  I post the truth and the haters post hate, either way MO is getting notoriety.  Thanks for everyones participation.  I couldn't have done it without you.

I agree. Its not a bad game, Im sure.  I was in beta and tried post launch, but the only thing I cant get around is first-person all the time...that was the only thing for me.  Having the hybrid third-person and first-person in Darkfall was great, and along with the earlier game-play, it is why I probably played that game more than 8 months, which is more than I've probably played any other single mmo in the past 5 years.

So, no need to hate on the game, but there's always a reason to hear honest opinions.

There are two or three "MO Haters" who literally have several thousand posts of MO hate on these boards.

Haven't tried MO due to all the poor reviews, so I disagree with you. I think its the reason why more people haven't even given this game any thought.

I agree that the negativity is what pushed me to go with Vanguard instead of MO (totally different games, I know).  But just think about how many people are aware of MO due to negativity that wouldn't of known of it otherwise and how many people follow these boards simply because of the controversy.  If SV does fix the bugs that are out there and actually releases the content patch they are promising, then what would be the reason for all the people following these forums due to negativity not to give it a go.

All I'm saying is that all the negativity about this game is only creating more interest and if the bugs get ironed out then this game could really take off, and alot of that interest may have come from "haters" keeping these forums active.

I think that if someone is considering to buy the game, and sees like 10 negative posts about the bugs and bullshit GMs does, they will reconsider. So yeah, there is bad publicity.

jimmy, I've been around this genre long enough to know that promises are almost never realized. Maybe that is the difference.

I've been playing MMO's for almost 10 years now and I know there is no "Perfect MMO".  I would never go into a game like MO with my eyes closed expecting the polish of WoW.  My only point is there are many games on this board that many people feel are no good and their forums are dormant.   Many people coudn't even tell you that these games exist.  I can see that by reading these forums that a MO is providing a good time for some and others would stab their mother if it would just shut the game down for good.   I am sure if I tried MO i would enjoy it for a few weeks then the bugs may or may not drive me out.  All I am saying is if the most glaring bugs do get addressed there is alot of people who have become aware of this game through negative publicity and if there was no major issues for a few months with this game then what would stop those like me who like come to the MO forums for the flaming wars to give it a go.

LOL, I remember wandering around Dark and Light beta wondering where the hell any kind of mob was. I wandered around for like an hour before I said this totally sucks!

I am still on the fence about MO myself, the beta wasn't that great but I do love some of the concepts of the game. I read both sides of the arguments, but I have been in a bunch of MMO's with tons of bugs (thinking back to Vanguard when it first released). Sometimes you can forgive the bugs if you still can play the game and have fun.

This is the million dollar question for those of us who haven't tried it.

If I were to read that what's in-game now (not promised in the future) worked, I would have already bought it. It seems from the outside looking in, that this is not the current case?

If there was a train wreck simulator game you know people would try it.

Mortal Online is by far the most talked about game per subscription on MMORPG.com.  There are more trolls in this games forum then any other games forums.  The Mortal Online forums are almost as busy as the damned General forums on this site.  It just goes to show Mortal Online is getting a lot of free press here.

The mortal online forums are no-where near as busy as the forums on this site. Would you please stop bending the truth.

I think it seems like an accurate statement if you read it proper.  For a game that some claim has under 3k subscriptions sure gets a lot of coverage here.  Curious as to what game with less subscriptions you think gets more coverage.

Maby because they used the game engine illegally and got sued and lost the case so they had to pull the plug.

If it's not broken, you are not innovating.

Ahhh dark and light, I think that was my favorite mmo as far as the world goes, however empty it was.. It was so awesomely huge with amazing scenery and travel mechanisms.. Hand gliding up mountains, into hidden valleys, drifting on the winds.. ahhhh. Last time I checked out the DnL forums, a month or two ago, there was a post about how DnL's concept is being reworked as an asian mmo of some kind.. hmm.

Mortal had a pretty nice world, but it was kind of on the small size at the time (beta)
