Almost every single way of improving your character/pet is done with items bought from the cash shop. I know many who have spent thousands of dollars (each) on this game.

Upgrading is also chance based, all of it. To make an uber pet will cost you about 800 dollars, or much more if you get unlucky.

If that's your kind of thing, you're rich, and you want to spend a lot of money to be uber at a game, then this game is for you. If you can't afford to waste money like that and you're sick of getting owned by people who can, then this game will probably frustrate you.

I really can't understand the mindset of individuals that would do this.

There was a guy in a game called ERupublik that spent over $15g's to get power.  That's just retarded.

I wont be surprised if some of those "power-ed" up toons are actually the game company's own staff, trying to entice player population to spend money, by showing the population you spend or get owned . It wouldnt be a very terrible marketting strategy and wouldnt take alot of effort either.

    <QQ moar plz. kkthxbai.>

No they arn't, I know, because i'm one of them. I'm also friends with a group of people who themselves each spent a fortune.

Quite simple, they suck pretty much.

I asked one from perfect world once and the responce was "i cant pay to win", if you think about it they would never play a subscription game becase everyone is on a level playing field in those games, so playing these "FTP" games they get to feel all powerfull and stroke there own epeen all day long lol.

I myself only spent a few hundred on it, but on past games before i've been sucked in and end up spending a lot. No it has nothing to do with sucking. I think it has to do with the mind-frame of some people. If you spend all of your free time playing the game, youll get sucked in, you end up spending a little, then some more, then more, some people become really addicted and they end up spending a fortune.

The game is gambling afterall, almost everything you get from the cash shop involves gambling, and gambling itself is addictive. They've combined addictive gambling with addictive type of mmos just to get as much money as possible out of people they suck in.

As for P2P games, I dominate in them just as I do in F2P games, the only difference is P2P is much cheaper.

I guess I've always wanted to know why players spend so much money (well period) but at least why they spend so much money on sub-par games.  I guess they simply aren't so sub par you players like you.

Friend sold his car 3 weeks ago for $17,000 and he spent 1500 of it on zen for BOI, he has 3 zodiac pets and full soul gear till lvl 90 which is gemed blessed etc etc (he is lvl 60) my char is lvl 82 and i can not kill him his pets and gear are to op.

Its a god damn joke tbh as i payed for 5k zen which was around $50 and barely touched the sides of my char when i look at other powerful chars they must of at lest spent over $500usd to get there (almost every lvl90 char on my server has zod pet), i don't mind some P2P games as i have a decent job and can spend 50 a week on them but this game takes the cake

LMAO, seriously, I quit BOI and all F2P games once and for all because they're just designed to have you gamble your money away. Yes, I dominate at BOI, I have all the best stuff and I didn't spend that much on the game. I have several thousand dollars worth of stuff, i only put a fraction of that in. There is nobody else like me on the server.

I will only touch P2P games from now, and yes, I excel at those too. The difference is people arn't all spending thousands of dollars on it, it creates a bad atmosphere imo.#

As for you, you're obviously a spiteful jealous little scrub.

  • DukeDuDukeDu Member Posts: 73

You people are talking about spending THOUSANDS of dollars on a chieldsh game like BOI? Are you people insane??? My god, you people are sick.

As for the game, its' ok, it ain't great, it ain't the worst either, it's ok, but seriously, there are way better F2P around, I' can't recommend it for anybody. The only true value of the game it's the 2D gameplay, wich some people love.

Every perfect world game is pay to win, thats how they make money.

  • silenossilenos Member Posts: 116

QQ much? I never understand people who want the best armor, the best weapon, the best everything. I have a lvl 92 magus in this game and never had to spend dollars on it. My items aren't the best but they are decent and good enough to level. You can get enough ingame money for your needs, you only have to spend dollars if you're impatient and can't save up or you're a stupid showoff freak who wants to be the best of the best. Not to mention the fact you can always buy cash shop crap for ingame money.

I want to reborn as a Sylvari.

haha who would be jealous at you being so epic fail??? anyone who is a noob is always fallen into this gimmick. f2p are not meant for long term gameplay more like breaktime from any major mmo. on the brightside there are plenty of subscription top of the line mmos coming out very soon.

Out of those "very soon" games only GW2 has chance to suceed.

Gotta give it to Perfect World though.

They get that money in at a nice rate.

"We got rid of the trinity." How'd you do that? "Now everyone can heal." Sounds like you just took the mechanic and spread it thin. "Well no, there's one class that can do it better than others." I see, so they're healers. "No. They're.." -mind asplode-

    120% is a HUGE understatement..

The posts about how it's a scam that want you to "gamble" everything for a "chance" at being powerful are 100% true.

Put a price on everything and make everything random as hell really is their  business plan.

Game wasn't that bad and had a lot of ways to proceed through the game, but when you get around 60-70 (in a few days even..) you realize the truth of the game and how insane it is with the randomness, cash shop, crap pets/items unless you're willing ot pay out of the ass, etc., etc..

Such a shame really, has a lot of nice features in between the mess the zen (cash shop) stuff makes it.

I actually liked all of the features, it does so many things right that other F2P MMOs do wrond or completely ignore. But the core game is crap. The only thing close to action this game has is a 2dish viewpoint.

Hmm nice,as observant as i think i am,i never really thought of that ,you know you are probably correct :D

I mean i know devs have players inside their games,no question there, but never really thought of them purposely beefing up their players to force others to use cash shop.Even if not on purpose,it woudl happen indirectly as they would have access or some secret cheat code to have the best gear.

I'm just glad I stopped playing this game long before I got addicted and spent money on it. Pure pay to win. It is a decent game, very addictive, but too much cash oriented!

My husband, known as Data in the abyss server when he quit was the #5 magus. And even now hes still in the top 20. He never spent a dime. As a Venezuelan citizen he is not allowed to. His pets were nice but he never had a super uber pet like most in the server did. He worked very hard to get what he had by taking advantage of cash shop sales and spending his in game coins to buy the zen the zen spammers sold. He was every bit as good as the next person and all it took was hard work. I bought some zen myself at holidays or my birthday and I had decent gears. I didn't have as much time to put into the game like he did, but I was in the top 40% of Slayers. My pets had great growth and such but I never spent the time to put zodiac skills on them.  So yes, I agree this game is a pay for power game. But you don't always have to spend real money to get it.

I remember Data! I was up on that magus list too (RelytDnegel) but yes this game is p2w. I would never go near another Perfect World International game again.
