Hooray for SOE selling out for the all mighty dollar once again. I wish SOE would actually give 2 cents about what it’s hardcore community wants versus the community that logs in twice a week. Granted there are more of them than there are of us. But come on we are your loyal fans that play everyday and aren’t the weekend warrior. Please please SOE stop selling out and making your game garbage. You can make more money if you listen to us versus selling out I promise you.
Of all the playable races you could have chosen you chose the Vampire. Come on that is just weak sauce and you know it. Twighlight and Trueblood fans congradulations your dream has come true.
EQ2 Extended such a scam. I don't mind you scamming people that aren't in the know SOE go ahead screw a few more dollars out them to make your wallets fatter. Why you didn't make it possible to for EQ 2 extended players to be able to transition into a EQ 2 Live account only hurts me and all the other loyal fans that have been paying your monthly subscription for months or years or even since launch now.
Ranting aside just smarten up a lil bit about what you are doing to the community. Your making it more theme parky wowesque with every new ontent you try to add. Maybe I'm reading to much into it and I should just let it go. Maybe you are making your EQ2 game for the casual players and EQ Next is going to be for the hardcore people I don't know I can only hope. I am big fan of the EQ,.EQ 2 enterprise don't get me wrong I just think they are making poor executive decesions as of late and I would encourage it to stop.
End of Rant.

There are very few corporations that do it for other reasons. It's a concept of a fiscal nature most likely and not something designed to annoy their client base. Companies have stock holders, investors, promise of profit enough for other projects, investments, and of course bonuses. One can't really just blindly lash out at the very game that gives you enjoyment for seeking other methods of revenue.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for speaking ones mind at any point to make statement. But not many of these will post customer service results to their stock holders instead of quarterly financial results. The ones that invested in this game, want return on the investment. The gamers want to believe that their game is different and will reward the hard work spent on line without giving the farm away to the casual gamer. They have learned the casual gamer is easy money and that will continue that way until interest in the MMO genre by the casual player dies off.
After what this company has done to SWG and to VG, and seeing the EQX joke, I know well I am not playing any SOE title again. I bet I am not the only one.
So EQ2 is becoming a teenage girl game..."The forbidden love of a vampire." "Can they find happiness in world set against them?" Yeesh.
lmao hope on friend :P
EQ2 is nothing anymore in SOE's mind then a testing ground to refine their approach for EQnext... if you think EQ2 is casual now, wait till you see what they will do with the new title.
Cash shop fuelled ultra casual themepark play... think a rebranded fantasy themed Freerealms lol.
SOE dont give damn about the 'hardcore', your nothing to them.. just relics from a past they wipe out more every day.
Sadly I agree with you 100% I haven't been living in the dark about this. I mean EQ1 is not EQ1 anymore. It is by leaps and bounds way more casual friendly than it was 4-6 years ago. Granted it is still labled "Hardcore" by todays standards but nothing as to what it was. As for EQ2 just hurts me more and more everytime I log on. My last great hope is for EQ Next which I am sad to say I almost have no hope in it. I want to I really want to I just don't see the golden age coming back. And I don't see any other fantasy game out there trying to bring it back either.
I may just hang my MMO hat up for a couple years and maybe come back after the themepark games have shut down. 2011 games seem like the year of themepark games by leaps and bounds Guild Wars 2,SWTOR,Rift,and a few other heavy hitters. Maybe in 2012 the industry will stop this nonsense.
Has SOE actually stated they are working on another EQ game?
They made fairies a playable race when they were trying to get back in the fight against WoW so we can probably expect the vampires to be more Twilight than Nosferatu.
But Neriak is one of the best starting areas in the MMO genre...I guess there's a chance they can get this right.

You're not, my guild included.
Companies have other reasons to make games?
