I enjoyed the PvE section of the game but now that I am 20 and actively taking part in PvP I have become dissapointed in a few things.
The lag. I have a high end system so Its not that. Its more when you click on a guy then you warp on top of them then a second later you are back where you were.
I have spacebar bound has the "Do it" command so when I have someone targeted I hit spacebar. And sometimes my toon will start to run in that direction but then stop for no reason.
The terrain, minor obstacles (corners of building, railings, rocks) and being body blocked or cornered can be very irritating. Indeed this can be a strategy but more an accidental strategy to corner someone. What happens most the time is the latency causes you to spin back a few steps when turning a corner which happens all the time.
The repetitive nature of the battles and really the lack of skill required. I heard so much about how there would be more strategy and skill involved in the battles but its really not the case. Once again it comes down to what class combo your playing and what are the other classes in your group. Sure there maybe some skill; I would rather say common sense when chosing what target to attack and where to be during any given situation and energy conservation etc, rather than calling it skill.
The complete and utter annhilation of caster classes opposed to the "other" types. Anyone that argues this point is just arguing for the sake of arguing because everyone knows that all tank type classes need to take out the caster types first. Its a priority for both sides at the begining everyone says, "casters first, Mo/ first. And there isnt much you can do when 2+ tanks are on one of your casters. There are ice dmg spells that can work if your specced in that and other things you can do to get away but with W/ having sprint it can be near impossible for a caster to survive if a well coordinated group attacks together your casters will go down.
The chase. It gets pretty silly when one of their tanks spends the entire battle chasing one of your casters around and around and around for basically the entire battle. Basically, those two players were removed from the battle and instead 4v4 became 3v3.
W/Mo's that dont use res signet is just plain dumb.
In a well balanced group I can do some major dmg and take out a monk very quickly as my E/Ne but I have to hide and wait for the battle to begin before I make any moves. And if their tanks havent decided to take me out first. The prob with that is sometimes its too late if I fall back too far to avoid being slaughtered because too much dmg has already been done.
Overall I see an extreme increase of W/Mo lately and that is the cookie cutter non skilled route everyone is taking. I have seen a full group of W/Mo get owned, Im not saying they are invincible. I do think however, that particular combo is rediculous compared to pure casting combos.
I have done my share of owning tanks, however but lately I feel W/Mo is the pattern everyone is going for and its getting old. They are the most important class combo beside Mo in my opinion. If you dont have a tank you will lose, in a pure casting group if you don't lose the first battle, overall you will have more losses than wins trust me.
Thats another thing. There is always a chance this will happen or that will happen but overall what type of class/combo has the highest survivablilty and wins, high atop that list has to be W/Mo
This is however coming from someone who is in a guild that has only 2 people so I have yet to experience a real cooridinated battle.
Thats another thing; I am unable to find a guild that has more than just the leader as a member its rediculous.

First off, I have been playing Guild Wars in all of the beta events. I will say I found all the w/mo's distressing at first. But now, I laugh at them. If you have the right skills combos, you can fight whatever class is required. I play an ele/mo. I made the particular build I use as warrior bait. With the spells I use, ward of melee, armor of the earth, healing breeze, and a few others, I usually take 3 tanks on at a time, assuming no pesky mesmers are around. I am an earth elementalists, which works extremely well. When people start this game, they tend to use only fire, as it looks as it does the most damage. I would advise looking into other elements. Earth spells, while not as damaging, give you a lot of protection spells, armor boosting, as well as a good combo options (and Obsidian Flame.) Air spells, on the other hand, also don't do as much damage, but they tend to slow and knock people down. While I agree many people take w/mo as they are a very simple and effective class to play, they truely are not that good, once you come to learn the game. Give it some time. Also, I agree that the arena doesn't take much tatics, though a well-coordinated team will tend to do better. What really requires tatics is in how you play tombs, but also GvG. GvG is the single greatest PvP that this game has going for it. As when you play GvG, you know everyone a lot better, well-coordinated builds are a huge differnce. For instance, we used a 8 ele/mo build once. 2 of the eles were healers, while the other 6 were earth eles. We would all cast Obsidian Flame simultaneously on a single target. That is 600 damage every 5 seconds. You have to be very coordinated to do something like that, because it only take a well timed heal to ruin the build. And while your point about casters being the first targets, which is usually true, and monks being at the top of the list, which is also usually true, that is not always the case. For instance, with our obsidian flame build, we targets mesmers first, as they were the biggest threat, and monks after that. Do not worry about W/Mo, as people get more expierenced, they will not be nearly as good. As for finding a good guild, wait a little bit and I am sure it will get better. OR try and join an experienced alpha/beta guild.
PS: While monks are the most essential class by far, I really don't have a second most essetial class, as you just need to have a good set-up. Though, mesmers are great to take out monks, at the same time eles are massive damage dealers, necros..... so on. Thet all have advantages.
The GvG sounds exciting. You have restored my hope. And your right I am still very new in what skills I should use.
Thanks
