It's time to ressurect Dark Age of Camelot to its former glory. If not by a successor, then by a major revamp to the game that will bring the old player base back. I have an updated campaign going to get EA's head out of their ass and get Dark Age of Camelot off the back burner.

I'm also looking for any great video footage of your old DAOC adventures. Just leave a message here or pm me with a link to your video if you want it displayed on the website.
If you want to send me the actual file, email it to jt@daoc2.com
Currently the website is solely a petition to get a response from EA/Mythic by the power of the "Tweet". However, the site will be updated regularly, with many more features to bring the DAOC fanbase together. If there's something you would like on the website, email me at jt@daoc2.com.
Let's bring back Camelot ^^

Or they could put there mkoney into something more important that most likely wont fail.

No, but I would love to see a sequel to this game. I completely missed out on the original and there definitely seems to be a fair bit of interest in seeing another one developed. I've heard a lot of good things about the first one, especially from it's earlier days.

Another Camelot based IP wouldn't be half bad, so long as they implemented it properly. Although even if they decide to, for it to be up to this sites standards we wont see it till 2014. That is unless NCS decides to sell GW2's engine....hmmmm
To the caterpillar it is the end of the world, to the master, it is a butterfly.
I'd be perfectly content with waiting a few years if it was in development.
Did you ever see the videos of DAOC in the Crysis Sandbox?
Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZG3_f-YfPo0&feature=player_embedded#!
I think a step back with the first CryEngine would be pretty outstanding, seems to work well in large scale battles in Aion.
I'd love to see DAoC 2 come out--waited years for it...and eventually went back to DAoC 3 months ago--having a lot of fun, too
Btw, I don't have Twitter (and am not planning on getting it), but here's my /sign on the petition for DAoC 2!
either a revamp or a sequel would do great to dark age of camelot.... taht game is very weird, the gameplay feels like............(like that), and the ghrapics look like a poor version of eq2.
i really like the variety of classes but i wouldnt sub to daoc just because i like this little feature.
imo a good game mixes good graphics with good gameplay and a lot of other good features.
It's been in development for 2years now. Official word sometime Q3 Next year.

There are a couple of problems with the DAOC 2 idea these days..
A) EA... EA will bugger everything up. That alone is enough to almost guarantee failure. EA is the leading killer of not only games but of highly talented development studios. The black plague of gaming companies.. PUKE!
EA... Since EA already buggered up Mythic and it's efforts with WAR, not only the team, but the very ideas and values that created DAOC are all gone. Killed, murdred, desecrated and tossed into a pile of filth by EA. The killer of all things outside of the box.
I would love to see DAOC 2, but unless Mythic is reborn ala 1999 it won't have the feeling or the oomph of DAOC.
DAoC 2 was kind of in development for a bit, but it got axed.
Then they started making something called DAoC Origins, which was classic Camelot without any expansions. They started to make mistakes with that too, they were going to leave in the new archery system and garbage like that, probably because they didn't have any manpower/coders left to fix things.
Then that got axed too when WAR started failing so hard, because they diverted all resources to that.
Then EA more or less broke Mythic and scattered their pieces to various games.
Mythic is dead. And to be honest, they've been dead for a long time. They haven't made a single good decision in their games since 2003 (well... that's a big harsh, but they've done more harm than good).
Seriously, /level 20, buff bots, ToA, floating icons over quest NPC heads, task dungeons, instances, in game GPS maps, removing ladders, new archery system, all horrible ideas. They lost sight of what made their game good. The PvP is still kind of fun, but everything else was lost along the way.
If Mythic started making DAoC 2, I have no doubt they'd make it wrong. Especially after reading the article from EA Louse. Some moron who has no idea what was good about Camelot and what was bad would remake it and it'd be WoW 1.2.
It's interesting because I feel the same way.
More often than not I see someone post on these forums about some older game that "got it right" only for that game to make some wrong turns and then have these people pine for the days before "x expansion".
I have no doubt that even if you got the original team together for DAoC 2 it would start out fine only to take what some players consider "wrong turns".
I don't think there is an older game that people claim to be amazing "back in the day" but where they don't play it now because of whatever changes were made.
I mean, DAoC is still there. Other older games are there as well. But they need players to draw the attention of developers and publishers so that they see that players want these types of games.
Otherwise, and no disrespect to WoW, you have WoW with its millions of players and veteran gamers shaking their heads talkling about the old days but not playing the very games that they laud.

Well you are right. With MMORPGs, games shift focus as time marches on. Some people like the way things used to be, more often than not, changes are changed in a last ditch gambit by the companies to hook in casual players, and they end up breaking their own game. Sometimes they make the game TOO HARD so that players just quit. The end result is the same, people talk about how god the games used to be, but can't go back.
Ultima Online was killed by its own devs
EQ was half killed
DAoC was killed without a doubt
SWG was killed in a legedary fashion.
This and World of Darkness would be the only two MMO's that I would pre-order site unseen. There is a huge potential for disappointment here, but I would have to try. There are many reasons I don't play DAoC these days, some of them RL based. All I really need to get back in the game are a better engine, larger playerbase, and more dev support. Graphics for me take a back seat to community quality and gameplay. DAoC's community "back in the day" was second to none, and its three-way RvR system has never been copied. Hell, if they went to an Istaria style system with different ways to subscribe, and dropped the overall price for the "premium" subscription ($12/month), I would start playing again.
EA should definitely do some research, either with marketing, or by dropping the price of the original, to see if DAoC is worth resurrecting before just writing it off.
If they made a modernized version of DAoC 1, then I would be all for it. They just have to make sure they don't take out much of anything and leave it be. This is the MMO I've played then longest as it had the most for me to keep coming back to.
count me in too, I would certainly purchase and sign up. K

Played:
WOW - GW - WAR - AOC - CoH/CoV - EQ2 - SWG - FFXI - DAOC - EVE - VG - L2 - RFO - DFO - DDO - LOTR
they are already making it it called GW2.
My understanding about GW2 is that you fight against otehr servers that randomly rotate weekly...
That has nothing to do with DAoC in it's prime where you fought..hated.. and perhaps grew to respect the enemy realms and their members. Also... everyone will have access to every class... BLAH. GW2 is nothing like DAoC...

yes i would like to see DAOC also come back i really miss playing this game
They already were it got canned.
/bump
Anyone else have some footage/screenies of their old RvR days?
They'd have to get rid of new frontiers easymode insta travel for me to even consider it. That killed RvR and turned into a bunch of mages standing around launching fireballs at each other.
lets face facts here. If games like this were remade today. they would be nothing like what they were before. they'd be made to fit todays current player base. A watered down version of a game you've played 100 times already.
Ok, I will sign a petition for DAOC 2.
There is no reason why a company can't make a 'three realm' rvr style game similar to DAOC.
But......it is not easy. DAOC had what? 30 classes? I can't recall.
The three distinct realms and huge number of classes (different classes in each realm) is more work than most game developers are willing to do today.
Guildwars 2 is at least describing their three server rvr as Inspired by DAOC three realm rvr,
GW2 is the only thing close we will see for at least 6 years. maybe ever.
fyi I am a casual player, I played DAOC when it was released, mainly had one character, a Skald.
Dabbled in all three realms for years, did some weaponcrafting. Did some rvr combat but not as hardcore as most players.
loved the game. I would be excited to see a new version made.
Midgard rules all!
best DAOC fan creation ever right here---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlCco3tJx4w
which is what killed DAOC. People say it was Trials of Atlantis, but really I think it was the fact that They turned pvp into easymode that killed it.
I can understand making pve fairly easy in DAOC, as the real end game was PvP, with a dungeon raid thrown in once in awhile. Instand travel and catering to the instant gratification crowd killed PvP.
