I haven't played a MMO for a few years and I really enjoyed Rift so far, it's very social, fun, and doesn't require a bachelor to play.
However, they really need to work on the fun factor because GW2 will totally steal the crap out of their playerbase if they don't.
I agree with lunatis here, once GW2 comes out im sure it will fire a chunk of players out of rift's playerbase, they should try to make it more fun with more endgame and housing etc.. things that people like in MMORPG's
Aw man, couldn't be at a worse time. My last 2 exams fall exactly between those dates, no way I can play. At least I was happy to be part of the first event. Oh well, hoping to be on the last CBT!

That's the thing. I really enjoy housing, as it creates so much extra opportunities for a game (and extra content!). After playing the beta, I know it's one less game to look forward to. Not a bad game at all, just not what i'm looking for anymore. The game is quite old fashioned.
That's a great way to put it.... well, if you consider something that seems to come straight out of 2003/2004 old fashioned.
I agree the game isn't bad. If it had come out around the same time as WoW did it would really have given Blizzard a run for their money. Being released next year... eh.... it's nothing special and there's really nothing I see in the game that would keep me playing after one of the actual "next-gen" MMO games is released.
Of course no one has seen the endgame yet, so maybe there will be something there to really WOW us, but I'm not holding my breath.

That's exactly what I meant. Not necessarily the comparison with WoW, but it looks like that is the audience they're looking for.
the game is more polished than most games are when they are released, you can hear the devs say this when they talk about the comments they receive at events I'm sure that they would not be saying this if the game was not far from release, as in early next year. And for an unbiased opinion you only have to look at the majority of reports from people who have played the beta, they say the same thing, the game is close to complete and definatly more complete than most of the games released nowadays. I'd bet alot of people involved in the beta would buy the game tomorrow if it was released.
I'm sure the game could use some more polish, but what game couldn't? It is probably not a stretch to say an early release next year is likely. I hope so anyhow
I played in the first beta and the game played well, hopfully the next 2 weeks will give them time to adjust some of the game mechanics that people gripped about.

Hopefully they select new people with normal invite key other than the ones got in first closed beta, so more people can test the game giving more comments , or giving more VIP keys this time.
The shorter day beta's are MUCH better all around. Sure you get to preview the game but you shouldn't actually get to use it as your primary game. Saying that, Rift has a lot of potential and Trion still has quite a bit of time left to fix things here and there, not that it needs a complete overhaul, WHICH it doesn't.
It will now be interesting to see this next Beta and what future patches are too come.

I want in, didn't get in the first closed beta
VIP key would be nice, not as easy to come by as I had hoped.
