I have to post an illogical fanboi support to Turbine(althought I never even try any of their past game)!
I hope they are stressed now with all this fanbois HYPING!
If you dont agree that D&D will rule them all... DIE HERETIC! (pretty logical uh?)
PS: Arguing with me over this topic may have similar results then arguing with Ste about Vanguard...or arguing with Exploror about PvP...or trying to figure some sense in what Tiamat is saying...You have the right to smile inward and wait to see me flame the game soon after release, since it may happen if they screw some ''basic stuff'' about D&D and I wont even listen to anything about their current vision of soloing, irrelevant, they will see the light before release...but talking about this is going to get you nowhere now, D&Donline for President!
PPS: Did I forget to say D&D online will be the best thing since sliced bread?

It should be good, but rule them all? I dunno about that
The thing that will make or break this game, since its so strongly based on it, is the quality of the quests. If the quests suck this game will go down like the Titanic. Well, that and generl gameplay.
you must be getting D&D mixed up with Darkfall...its okay though everybody makes mistakes.

Acually, Turbine will probably save that slogan for LotRO, lol.

You should at least try the Asheron's Call 2 expansion pack. They did a great job on it.
I hope it does well.. I would like to try D&D.
You're badly biased. Nothing fundamental has changed. Kill 4000 dillos for another level or maybe 2000 by mixing it up with some speed quest zergs when your quest timer comes up to repeat the same content every week for the next year.
As for DDO, it should be very good if Turbine can follow through. But it will not be as big as WOW or L2. It's going to appeal to a particular audience, a good sized one to be sure, but still a particular audience. DDO is breaking the mold by removing xp from killing critters. This opens the door to all kinds of new gameplay. You may still have to kill things to complete your goals but you may also have to bribe, stealth, steal, blackmail, etc.
Structurally, it looks like it will feel like guildwars with central shared "hub" cities for trade and intrigue and instanced adventure areas for soloers or groups.
I've been impressed so far with what DDO has shown.
The adventure is in the journey itself.
No, probably what he means is Vanguard
I would be as rabid as the OP in illogical fanboying of a D&D MMO, however.. I despise Greyhawk and hold a slight dislike for Eberron. We'll see how this one goes when it goes.
w00t D&D
To all of those that even express a slight concern or doubt or lack of faith(everyone who post beside zensaber who get an approval nod)...

I think what he means is d&L will rule 'em all!
Mhhh..........that's what I call an interesting quote..........and such a novelty too..........
Well D&D PnP when it first launched was something to respect nowadays. You have to remember that developing and playing a PC game versus PnP will never ever be the same, it just can't be done.
With that said do not expect to be playing a D&D PnP video game. I for one cannot wait until this game comes out, it is most promising but I will not say it will rule everything. My biggest wish list release is for Lord of The Rings Online.
On a side note, I used to play the original D&D PnP 1st edition when it was somewhat new, TADA.
I, for one, am glad that they are acually making a D&D game that ISN'T set in the friggin' Forgotten Realms. FR has been used in just about every D&D PC game (and console) since the 80's.
Time to move on, I say
Oh, and yes, DDO WILL rule.
While I'll agree that FR has been well used....it is also deep and comfortable, it has a lot of history. Eberron has some new things that are inteersting, like the 'forged but it doena't have the history of FR to pull stories from. FR has great heroes that we all know and recognize by name...Eberron does not. Still really want to start playing though...one of my PnP groups bailed on me...need my D&D fix on a more regular basis!
Yeah, I don't feel that there is anything particularly WRONG with FR really..it's just a tad too generic for it's own good. Maybe I think that because I am so familiar with it by now. To me, FR = standard vanilla fanasy at this point.
Also, you mentioned that ONE of your PnP groups bailed on you? *Sigh* Must be nice to have more than one group lol! I don't have any right now
It'll be good..I hope. All the RPing will be crazy haha, But I don't know about it ruling them all
