Compared to its predecessor Kung Foo which i also played there is a noticable difference. You pointed out a major theme about Jade Dynasty and Ether Saga. Originally kung foo was very ether saga....artwork, settings, characters the whole bit. They really destroyed the CB by letting us skip right to max level but oops.....we had no skill points to go with them >.> so a bunch of level 60's wanting to explore the endgame content for the devs and test but no way in hell we could do it.
They redeemed a bit with the over haul. ES is still present but like i noticed as well, alot more JD now, artwork seems a bit more crisp and vibrant. Those who are PWE game players will certainly notice it too. Also i dont believe they had the Reaver race in the Kung Foo original, but thank you for choosing them since the humans were old news. More into the battle system and a bit more detail on the skill sets (perhaps skill point conservation etc?). Would of been nice to see the pvp but im sure, like i had noticed playing this version, the amount of servers opened limited player interaction severely. I played 3 hours without seeing anyone.
Im not sure if it was just me or not but i did find the translation to be just a bit off still and just off enough, that you have to read the quest twice to understand it. I know a few times i was left scratching my head because of a vague oddly worded paragraph.
Did you encounter any bugs while playing, hindering play or otherwise? I know for one the game ran beautifully on max settings and i didnt have a common problem in pw games of rubber banding on steep hills or with a speed boost, which was a nice change for once. I did notice some 'hurried' landscaping with certain buildings or objects floating in spots or clipping noticabley.
I believe CB is till the 15th, tho im not positive. Maybe give us an update after it closes, final thoughts as it were. Thanks for the review, could of used a bit more but good none the less.
And just a personal note to those who want to play this game, i have to warn you. Like the reviewer said it is one of the better F2P companies out there and their games give alot for free. But the competitive folks out there need to keep an eye on their wallet because item mall is something they have an issue with. Perfect World was one of their babies. The content was fantastic, graphics were beautiful, pvp was fun and it was all sunshine and rain bows. 2 years later, the economy for the free folks is next to impossible and cash shoppers rule (just take a look at their Territory War Map ; D ). Some of their other games have worked it out okay but the included player run economies can sometimes turn bad for people who really want F2P.
But all in all, their games can be fun and addictive but self control is needed for the competitive 'i need it now' folks or you will be BROKE. Legend of martial arts is pretty slim now and no where near some of the depth of the other games of PWE, We should know how this ship will sail when OB (live) comes. Oh and one more request for the reviewer....if theres a dungeon in that game can you show us? I love dungeons and i was so quest overloaded i hadnt gotten to see one yet.
