The game might be good in 1 year, all those patches really look like patches for beta... o_O At least people aren't paying for it. Squere finally will learn not to release unfinished games.

Releasing an unfinished game shouldn't have to be something you learn.

Not only will Square learn but I'm counting on others to learn from Square's miss on this one. En Masse, Trion Worlds, SOE, NC Soft, BIO Ware. Unfinished game will not be taken lightly.

At this rate they might as well admit they fooked up,and relaunch with something  like Alganon's soft launch scenario it might then soften the blow and gain SE some respect as they sure have lost it big time.

Still almost zero content, besides NM's for the highest level players (which there are few), and all beta bug fixes. Guess my hope resides for next March.

    What are you talking about?!

I can get a recipe for a skill I have no interest in leveling up and make a Santa hat.

    That's CONTENT!!

    It's just lame content.

The only good thing to come out from this update is free retainer. Still waiting for some real content update other then NM's and addition of same repetitive leves.

Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

Honestly I went in to options and I have the max number of characters and upped my retainers. There's no way they're going to start charging for this game so load up now people. LoL

Gee, maybe some butterflies to go with the marmots. NM's are a basic start at best.

    • New guildleves

Yay, more daily quests to go with the one's people are already tired of doing. Still got a limit on how many you can do? That's what I thought. Let me know when the REAL quests get here.

    • Many new recipes

Just what the game needs, more recipes for a borked and over-dependent crafting system. Let me know when Final Crafter becomes Final Fantasy.

    • Further improvements to the naming and organization of market wards

*sigh* You developers really just have no clue.

    • An additional free retainer slot

Good idea, now I can place two retainers full of junk in the battlecraft ward where everyone else sticks their's.

    • Improved response times on the retainer exchange interface

                 We'll see.

    • Further improvements to the user interface

                 We'll see.

    • Increased text limit for chat log input

Unless you're adding a global chat and allowing ALL  the other crap outside of chat to be filtered out of the channel, don't bother.

Still waiting on those things like storyline and environmental progression that makes most MMOs fun for soloing. Also for airships/chocobos to be added. I had expected this would have been completed in the initial release...

I so very much want this game to improve to the point that it's awesome ;-; I have no MMO. I'm lonely! But I'd be shocked if it happened. These are all welcomed fixes but against a really bad core game, it doesn't help much. It's sort of like putting a nice shirt over a festering wound. It's better than staring at the icky, but it's not really improving anything.

Honestly I think it would be better to take the game down and really dig in. I'm sure it's costing them money to keep the servers up, regardless of whether or not they're filled with people. The only reason they don't, I'm sure, is because people would be screaming for their money back on the boxes they bought. Just a few people bitching about that they could probably ignore, but EVERYONE doing it...*whistle* that would be a nightmare.

I bet they're hoping making it free to people who bought the box will foster a community of people that'll stick with it no matter what, but that's just not happening because even if all the bugs were fixed, the game itself still isn't fun. What they need to do is make the game f2p, at least until they get things up and running again. There are a lot of people in the F2P community that LOVE those slow-to-kill, hardcore grind games, which is exactly what this game currently is (at least until they remove the quest limit). Removing the requirement to buy the box is the only way they're going to get a lot of people on those servers, even if they end up kicking them all out of the servers when they're ready to start charging again.

Hell, I'd play. Well no...I'd log in, make a character and wander around staring at all the pretty things. But that's sorta like playing! Sorta. Just not enough to justify buying a box.

The crafting in Final Fantasy XIV isn't really "hard" or "challenging". It's tedious.

I couldn't decide which was worse, the crafting in Aion or the crafting in FFXIV. I think I detested both equally for different reasons...and some similar reasons.

The game is way to dependent on the crafting.. and "Benthon" is right, its not challenging its just tedious as all hell.. I can't stand doing it, it just takes to much and it gets dull.

This game needs TONS more improvements and things completely re-done in order for people to actually enjoy and play this game... (ALOT Of people.. not just the japanese players you see online atm. )

What I *used to* like,in fact love in FF, is that it asked me to use my brain. Button smashing wouldn't cut it. Yes, there was repetition for the sake of repetition (what RPG isn't ultimately), but at least it was based on a good system.

In XIV all I have to do is browse websites for recipes and spend hours lobotomizing my mind on a stupid mini-game so-called "crafting". The combat system and enemy design is dull, light-years from being on-par with previous quality FF titles. Even playing their Facebook game is less of a hassle. And that's saying something, I guess.

Not this update -- nor anything they announced as of yet -- can, let alone will, change that.

What i get out of that update is this .....

press release,we are putting mobs and trees in the game....fans:"oh really?gee thanx",well we are also giving you more lines of text to type.......fans:"WOW! i see the gaming sites and magazines, lining up for the scoop on that detail".

SE...press release we are giving you some free retainer/space..........fans: "oh really gee thanx,i didn't knwo this was a cash shop game and we had to pay for space".

Money grind was in mules in FFXI and SE saw the golden opprtunity to grind more money out of people using Retainers,it has nothing to do with listening to anyone ,but their pockets.

Market wards still there..BAH!,i really think SE does not believe their game is that bad,i truly beleive they feel that last announcement of staff changes is good enough to fool people. The like to do the same thign as all other devs do and tell everyone how they are listening, umm ya right quit with the lies,i was in FFXI for 7 years,i know SE listens to only a small core of people, not the fanbase.

The game is finished like all games that fail out of the gate, because of one big reason.....It needs a restart from scratch and NOT the game the way it is now. This is not viable to those who have already spent countless hours,so since there is no real fix to this problem,it will just remain a struggling game.
