Subscriptions have not changed in amount for some time now. What they offered for free before may be they will not be doing so any more. They charge for an item that does not make you overpowered just look better .I have no problem with it as long as the game continues to improve. They use the money to improve the game.
Any game that started offering a vanity item like the steed in WoW ...has Blizzard then let people buy other items that might unbalance the game ? I do not think they have. Any other game that has ? Offhand cannot think of any but I am sure you have an example since you say they start like that and then change. Would you mind giving us examples of such games ?
Sounds like an item shop will be included in the future? Wont bother with this asian grinder I guess.
Yet you still pay for the same shit they sell in WoW
What shit are you talking about? I have never purchased any CS items in WOW or any other game. If its just fluff and doesnt offer an advantage to the morons who do purchase, then I could care less. But the difference between WOW and an asian pay to win are millions of miles apart.
You, sir, are an idiot. It's not going to have an item shop, it's going to have a vanity shop IF any at all. Nowadays all sub based games include a vanity shop, so just deal with it. But why would you EVEN read the original post in this very thread before posting ignorant comments, right?
Read it? Yes I read it. I also have been around this hobby for awhile. Asian grinder with a cash shop is what this will be. It may start at fluff items but once the game doesnt take off in the west it will add more and more advantage items. One doesnt need a crystal ball to see where this is going. Enjoy your Aion clone as long as it lasts.
Nop. It won't have an item shop. Games like AoC and WAR that have gone through an awful launch and now after several years being around 100k subs both haven't gone through the item shop path. Enjoy your ignorance.

Why aren't you complaining about all the shit they sell on WoW?
Because he assumes that Asian = Pay to Win regardless of dev statements that if they do have an item shop, it will be in the same vein as WoW. So naturally, he would see "vanity items," remind himself of the developers nationality and make the illogical leap towards PTW.
The "slippery slope" logical fallacy is something I see a lot on game forums. Wonder why?
I dont care if theres cash shop.... AS LONG as its not giving you extra strenght to gain... just for decrotation, looks only but no extra stats which is fine to me.

If Tera will act like WoW, meaning adding 4 pets and 1 mount 5 years after the game releases I may forgive it.

TERA will have an item shop in the end. It doesn't matter what the devs say. The economic realities will eventually force their hands. The AAA games are moving into f2p models not because the want to but because they are being forced to. The economy is still in a kind of recession and unemployment is sky high. Not everyone can afford that $15/mo anymore but are willing to burst spend sometimes on item malls or retail boxes like guild wars. Just watch you will see I am right.

Trends have shown that when the economy is down people turn to gaming as cheap entertainment. The only reason games move to f2p is to keep the game alive on the bring of death or to supplement what they are missing from the amount of subs the need to keep the game from being crapped. I don't forsee Tera needing to go F2p but of course they wil other items to sell just like every other AAA. That is not a cash shop however.

No, you are not right. They will sell vanity things along with their subscription model.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
I can't believe this is even a discussion. How stupid do you need to be to not understand the OP? Bottom line: look at WoW. See WoW? See how it handles subscriptions? See how it handles an item shop? Copy-paste. That's it. Subscription + paid character transfers/gender changes/server changes + item shop for things like non-combat pets and the occasional mount.
What is so difficult to understand?

They said the game will be subscription based and maybe sometime after launch they might add some things like the usual character trasnfers, gender change and cosmetic shop no need to get defensive stayontarget.

In Europe Tera will go f2p. Why? Thanks to Frogster aka Failster. EU Tera will fail on start.
Most people from EU will play NA version, because of Frogster widely know history. They also know that. They will ruin game at start, declaring that they not started well on market, so they will decide for Tera to go f2p, to get more players. Where Frogster comes with f2p, there we come to hackers, bots, censoring/deleting/ban on forums. And much more, converting f2p in pay2win game. But, wait, how, Tera is made to be p2p? Do not worry, they have programers to implement cash shop.
Game is supposed to be an adult, 18+, ingame blood? Frogster will remove blood/adult parts and make game 12+, according to their (EU/German) laws. Wrong. There is nothing with law, but their successful top management. Too many 12+ germans playing their Runes of Magic, they got insane money from them, so why they will care for 18+? Look also at Runes of Magic forums "Post your irl pics", u will see a part what I'm talking about.
Now, if this will be a bullcrap, go on, rape me and spit on me.
